Chapter 114: Mom, Don't Be Afraid

However, the hungry children did not care about Sun Jian's threat at all and still came forward to snatch the food. All the people around them looked at the three new intruders in silence.

It wasn't until Sun Shou took the three of their backpacks and ran away quickly that the children were stunned and all chased after Sun Shou.

Sun Jian finally breathed a sigh of relief. He really didn't want to do anything to these children.

After finding the building, Xu Xuening knocked on the door.

"Who is this?" The familiar voice came from the door. Xu Xuening, who was standing outside the door, suddenly couldn't hold back her tears.

Mother Xu staggered over to open the door, and as soon as she opened it, she saw her daughter, whom she had been longing for, standing in front of her.

"Mom!" Xu Xuening couldn't help but hug Xu's mother in front of her, crying in pain.

"It's good that you're here, it's good that you're here." Xu's mother also hugged her daughter, tears slowly overflowing from the corners of her eyes. It took her a long time before she noticed the two men standing in front of her.

Looking at the two men at the door, her expression changed from gloomy to bright.

Sun Jian looked at his brothers. They also noticed that Xu's mother's expression towards them was very strange. However, they couldn't put their finger on what it meant. Did Xu's mother think that they were live-in sons-in-law? That didn't make sense either. Her eyes looked a little defensive, not like the look of someone who admired a live-in son-in-law.

Sun Jian guessed slowly in his heart, and put on a smile, trying to give Aunt Xu a good impression. However, he didn't know that his grin made the middle-aged woman in front of him even more alert.

"Who are these two...?" Xu's mother asked slowly.

"Oh, by the way, Mom, let me introduce you. This is Sun Jian and Sun Shou. They are my teammates." Xu Xuening introduced the three of them, "And this is my mother."

"Teammate?" Mother Xu looked at the people before her suspiciously, as if unsure if her daughter had been coerced or forced into a lie. However, she looked around and saw nothing like it. The three of them looked too calm.

Sun Shou looked at Xu's mother, who kept shifting her gaze, and said gently, "Aunt Xu, thanks to your daughter's care along the way, we have been able to get to where we are today. We have heard her mention you along the way, saying that you are a very strong woman."

After hearing Sun Shou's words, Xu's mother felt relieved by her daughter's smile. The fact that she could still smile at this time showed that things were going well recently.

"No, thank you for taking care of my daughter along the way. I know it must have been very hard for you to get here." Mother Xu looked at them gratefully and urged them to come into the house quickly.

"Mom, I'm here to take you and Uncle An away from here. By the way, where is Uncle An?" After entering the house, Xu Xuening couldn't wait to explain his purpose to his mother.

"Your Uncle An has a job and won't be back until tonight," Xu's mother said, clutching Xu Xuening's hand tightly. "It's so chaotic out there, why did you take us out?" Xu's mother was puzzled. "I heard the world outside is hell, the whole world is ruined, and there's no safe place. Ah Ning, is that right?"

Xu's mother looked at her daughter with anxiety, and she was terrified of the outside world.

Xu Xuening, who had experienced all this before, understood that her mother was frightened. She immediately stepped forward and held Xu's mother's hand, wishing she could pass all her courage to her mother.

The four hands of the mother and daughter clasped together tightly, the temperature of the two palms surprisingly consistent, as if the left hand was holding the right hand. However, one hand was rough and almost cracked, while the other was still as delicate as before.

"Mom, don't be afraid, I'm here." Xu Xuening's gentle voice sounded in Xu's mother's ears, so soft that it seemed to carry magic, slowly taking away her fatigue and her panic, as if returning to the peaceful and tranquil world they once were.

"Don't be afraid, I'm here to protect you." Her daughter's voice sounded firm and strong, stronger than any other time she had ever encountered. That voice touched her, as if it had dispelled all the fears she had felt for the past few days.

"Don't worry, Mom, I will protect you. You won't be hurt by those monsters." Xu Xuening slowly hugged her mother.

Sun Jian looked at the lady crying again and fell silent.

Go out with Sun Shou and leave the space to the mother and daughter.
