Chapter 28 The Spirit of Contract

Xu Xuening felt depressed when she heard what Xie Yan said.

In the room, Xu Xuening watched Xiao Hai fall asleep, and she touched her son's hair with satisfaction.

After the storm, they saw the beginning.

There are still ten days left before the outbreak. At 03:25 on September 10, Xu Xuening looked at the time displayed on her mobile phone. It would be more than an hour before dawn, but she felt a little anxious.

"Come out with me."

Seeing Xu Xuening's son sleeping, Xie Yan couldn't bear to disturb her and gently reminded her.

In the study, Xu Xuening watched Xie Yan take out a piece of paper.

"Thank you." Xu Xuening looked at Xie Yan, thought for a moment, and thanked him. "If it weren't for you, I might not be alive."

Before Xu Xuening could finish the long thank-you speech in her mind, Xie Yan's words got stuck in her throat.

Xie Yan: "Xu Xuening, the end of the world is coming, what are you going to do?"

Before Xu Xuening could finish the long thank-you speech in her mind, Xie Yan's words got stuck in her throat.

She thought about it, then shook her head at Xie Yan, "I haven't made up my mind yet. I plan to go north."

Xie Yan: "Leaving here?"

Xu Xuening: "Yes, in another 10 days, it might be impossible to escape from this city even if you want to."

Xie Yan: "In that case, when this thing explodes, do you think other places will be safe?"

Xu Xuening smiled bitterly when she heard Xie Yan's words. Of course it wasn't safe. The last time, six months before the apocalypse, she, Duan Wei and the other two had been on the run, they had encountered countless obstacles.

Not to mention the long traffic jams on the highway, some villages have simply broken the road surface, leaving no chance for people to pass.

After so many years of national construction, roads connecting every village, and huge amounts of money invested, the situation has become even more crisis-ridden because of natural disasters and man-made disasters, as well as the actions of individuals.

She shook her head. "No, it's not safe outside either, but staying in this city is just seeking death."

Lincheng is not a small city. With a population of one million, it can be said that when the zombies come, it will be a feast for zombies.

The spread was so fast that a zombie crisis broke out in almost the entire city.

She still remembered that night of escape. The dust filled the air, like a winter haze, making it impossible to see anything beyond five meters. Various red lights flickered in the misty dust. She didn't dare stay in any place, for fear that a zombie would emerge from there and pounce on her.

She was still frightened when she thought of that night.

Xu Xuening took a deep breath, putting the horrific memories of that night behind her. "Mr. Xie, thank you for saving my life and Xiaohai's life. If possible, let's leave this city as soon as possible."

Xie Yan raised his head and looked at her. "Why, Miss Xu, is she so forgetful? It seems that she is planning to fly solo with her son."

Xu Xuening felt depressed when she heard what Xie Yan said.

Xie Yan did not forget to remind Xu Xuening, "Have you forgotten that the contract you signed with me not long ago requires you to stay with me? I think that modern people have a sense of contract. Even if the end of the world comes, Miss Xu should not break the contract, right?!"

Xu Xuening really wanted to kick him.

Before Xu Xuening could finish the long thank-you speech in her mind, Xie Yan's words got stuck in her throat.

What a wicked capitalist! The apocalypse is about to come, and he's still thinking about that damn contract! Even if they all stayed, could they still help Xie Yan make money from the zombies?

Xu Xuening forced a smile and looked at Xie Yan with all her strength, "Mr. Xie, you are really persistent. You are a good businessman."

Xie Yan looked at Xu Xuening with a forced smile: "Thank you very much. I am just a very principled person."

Xu Xuening was helpless. "Then what are you going to do? Are you going to let me stay here and die with you?"

Xie Yan looked at her dimly, "Who wants to die? Miss Xu, you are joking."

Xu Xuening glared at him angrily: "You threaten me!"

Xu Xuening: "Are you going to stay here? If that's not committing suicide, what is it?"

Xu Xuening felt depressed when she heard what Xie Yan said.

Xie Yan: "You should have known in advance that a disaster was about to happen here, right?! If so, didn't you ever think about preventing it?"

Looking at Xie Yan's serious expression, Xu Xuening was stunned for a moment. She shook her head and said, "I don't have enough ability to stop it. Even if I want to stop this crisis, it's just like an ant trying to move an elephant. I'm overestimating my own abilities."

Xie Yan looked at her, watching her face gradually turn red, and then she lowered her head in embarrassment, not daring to look him in the face.

The spread was so fast that a zombie crisis broke out in almost the entire city.

He pondered for a moment. "In that case, I promise that if the apocalypse still breaks out that day and this city is still in irreparable ruin, I will take you and your son safely out of the city and head north. But before that, Miss Xu, please remember the contract between us."

Xu Xuening cursed in her heart, the sky was about to fall, and this man wanted to drag her and her son to be buried with him.

Xie Yan seemed to know what Xu Xuening was muttering in her heart, "Of course, Miss Xu wants to scold me, and I can understand that. However, a contract is a contract. If Miss Xu breaks the contract and escapes from the city early, I don't want to see any accidents happen outside the city."

Xu Xuening glared at him angrily: "You threaten me!"
