Xu Xing ignored the two fools, walked up to the little girl, squatted down, gave her a gentle smile, and took out a can of eight-treasure porridge from his pocket.
"Little friend, are you hungry? Here, brother will give you some eight-treasure porridge." Xu Xing's tone sounded exactly like he was coaxing a child.
The girl nervously accepted the eight-treasure porridge, constantly glancing at Xu Xing's expression. Her neck was hunched as if she were afraid he would suddenly hit her. Only after taking it did she smile sweetly and say, "Thank you, brother!"
Xu Xing didn't give her any expensive food, mainly because he was afraid the girl's body couldn't handle it. A person who is starving cannot immediately replenish a large amount of protein.
Xu Xing didn't know how long it had been since he had been so kind to a stranger.
Ye Kai, standing nearby, thought that his boss only showed that kind of smile when he was facing Su Xixi.
Xu Xing is not a kind person. In his heart, he even wants to be a bad person. He has done things like kicking old people and tearing apart beautiful female celebrities in the apocalypse.
But for some reason, he showed the same concern for children as always. Perhaps it was because he couldn't find any children at all in the early to mid-stages of the apocalypse.
Xu Xing watched the girl happily drinking her porridge, feeling extremely comforted, but then some inappropriate words came from the side.
"Young man, do you still have any food? Give me some too."
It turned out to be that man; he smelled the scent and came running over.
"Get lost!" Xu Xing only replied with one sentence.
The man saw someone a size smaller than himself daring to insult him. He glanced at the accomplices, but they were no match for him. So, he became extremely bold and tried to snatch the eight-treasure porridge from the girl's hand.
Xu Xing grabbed his hand and asked the girl, "Who is he to you?"
The girl glanced at the angry man with fear and said in a trembling voice, "It's... a strange uncle."
As she spoke, she burst into tears. "Brother, my... my parents work in another city, and my grandparents turned into monsters and were eaten by that group of fat pigs. That's when I met them."
"Oh, so you're not her parents? I was originally planning to drag you a little further away to beat you up, but now I don't need to anymore."
Xu Xing grabbed his arm and stood up straight.
"Young man, what do you think you're doing? If you want to stand up for this girl, you'll have to ask my fists for permission first."
The woman who was eating in the kitchen heard the commotion and quickly ran over to help.
Wang Hu grinned maliciously and blocked her path.
"What do you think you're doing? Trying to stop me? Be careful, or I'll accuse you of indecent assault." The woman pointed her finger at Wang Hu, framing him.
"Pah! Why don't you take a piss and look at yourself? What 13 things? You're no different from a lump of pork belly. Even a piglet would call you 'Mom' if it came next to you!" Wang Hu wasn't buying it. He was also a master at cursing.
Xu Xing, who was in the living room, had long been impatient. He snorted coldly, grabbed the man's arm, and twisted him outwards.
A sharp crack followed by a scream echoed throughout the house, clearly indicating a broken bone.
The man's face was full of pain, and he hurriedly tried to beg for mercy: "Big brother, please spare me, I was blind and did not offend you."
Xu Xing acted as if he hadn't heard, grabbed the limp arm, pulled it back, and when they were at a suitable distance, he stretched out the sole of his old Beijing-style shoe and kicked the man in the chest.
Peng!
With a muffled thud, the nearly 300-pound man was sent flying backward, landing heavily on the sofa.
His body's fat and muscle actually provided him with a good cushion, preventing him from dying on the spot. Instead, he suddenly vomited a mouthful of blood and tried to use his other good arm to climb off the sofa, but to no avail.
"Brother, the teacher said we can't hit people," the girl said, holding Xu Xing's little finger.
Xu Xing smiled and wiped a grain of glutinous rice from the corner of the girl's mouth: "Brother didn't hit him, I was just loosening his muscles. From now on, you can come with me. You'll have enough to eat every day, and I'll help you find your mom and dad, okay, little girl?"
Xu Xing's promise to feed her every day was true, but his offer to help her find her parents was pure nonsense. The world is so big; they might have already been infected by some zombie.
Upon hearing her parents' words, the girl's eyes immediately lit up with hope again. After thinking for a moment, she nodded in agreement.
"Alright, come with me first." Xu Xing ignored the screaming man and the woman who was being stopped by Wang Hu and hurling insults at each other.
Instead, he took the little girl's hand and led her to the innermost part of the house, the children's room. When he opened the door, there was a slight stench of decay, but there was no sign of any zombies.
I reckon it's already been taken care of by that spotted pig from before.
The girl seemed used to it and didn't seem to mind. She sat quietly on the sky-blue bed.
Xu Xing took out some snacks and put them aside, saying, "Wait here for a bit, I'll be back soon. Don't go out if there's any noise outside." Children's rooms are usually very soundproof, so Xu Xing wasn't worried about the girl hearing anything.
The girl nodded and said to Xu Xing, "Brother, my name is Xia Tiantian. You can just call me Tiantian from now on."
Xu Xing touched the girl's hair, then turned around, closed the door for her, and then revealed his ferocious face.
Carrying the scalpel and the "pig gun" (a type of scalpel), Ye Kai returned to the living room and found Ye Kai squatting on the sofa where the man had been.
She slapped the man's face repeatedly with both hands: "You're so arrogant, aren't you? You even dare to hit a girl who's only ten years old. Bullying the weak is one thing, but you even dare to be fierce with the boss. I think you don't know what death means!"
