"Why didn't I see it?"
Fang Qingxun noticed that everyone else could see the difference, so why couldn't he see anything? Wasn't it still pitch black?
It's normal that you can't tell.
Fu Xiaxia patted Fang Qingxun on the shoulder, speechless at Fang Qingxun's dull senses; he hadn't even noticed such an obvious difference.
Fang Qingxun looked at Fu Xiaxia with a wronged expression. What do you mean it's normal not to notice? He's not that slow-witted, is he? He just hadn't observed carefully before, okay?
Shi Yuan laughed out loud when he heard Fu Xiaxia's words.
"Shi Yuan, what are you laughing at?"
"Pfft, no...it's nothing."
When Fang Qingxun heard Shi Yuan laughing, he knew he couldn't do anything to Fu Xiaxia, so he didn't hold back and went up to playfully fight with Shi Yuan.
Listening to their conversation, Jiang Li knew he hadn't misjudged; it seemed the polar night was about to end.
Gu Jin shared the same thought as Jiang Li and spoke up.
"It seems the polar night is coming to an end."
Jiang Li nodded in agreement, and then everyone spoke.
"Why don't we just rest here for the next few days? We're not in a hurry anyway. Why don't we wait until the polar night is over before setting off?"
Gu Jin: "I'll listen to you."
Fang Qingxun and Fu Xiaxia: "We can both."
Shi Lin: "No objection."
Shi Yuan: "Okay."
They all agreed to stay where they were. They were in a city now, and the next step was to cross a mountain. Anyway, the polar night was probably about to end.
It's safer to enter the forest at dawn than to go into the mountains at night.
The group set up camp where they were, and each day thereafter the sky became brighter than the day before, from pitch black to hazy gray, and then to full daylight, all within a week.
The group originally planned to observe for another day before setting off the next day, but they never saw nightfall, and the polar day arrived unexpectedly.
The group quickly accepted it, after all, the weather had been quite abnormal lately.
The advantage of the midnight sun is that you can see everything around you, instead of it being pitch black. Driving is also much safer, and daytime is always more convenient than nighttime. The downside is that we all have to wear eye masks to sleep.
The next day, the group continued their journey by car. Around noon, they officially entered the mountains. Many of the trees in the mountains had begun to sprout new branches, whereas many trees had been frozen to death due to the extreme cold, and their leaves had disappeared.
Several months have passed since the extreme cold, and the trees are slowly recovering. It seems that plants are much more adaptable than humans.
Once inside the mountains, the journey was smooth and unobstructed, and no wild animals attacked us.
The mountain was quite large, and the group couldn't drive out for a while, so they decided to stop and rest. After getting out of the car and observing the surroundings to make sure there was no danger, they rested near the car.
They ate lunch, mostly dry rations, since they were in the mountains and didn't know if there were large, fierce dogs. If the smell was strong, it would attract wild animals and cause trouble.
The group was resting on the benches when suddenly, "whoosh!"
A peach pit was thrown at Fang Qingxun.
"Hiss, who dares to ambush me?"
Fang Qingxun was suddenly hit by something and jumped up in anger. Everyone had clearly checked that there was no one here! Why would someone suddenly throw a fresh peach pit at her? And where did this peach come from, and why is it so fresh?
The group searched around, and Jiang Li finally fixed his gaze on a large tree not far away.
A white monkey was hiding in the big tree, and it was winking at the group while holding a big, juicy peach in its arms.
"Look, over there, is a mischievous monkey."
Jiang Li pointed to a tree not far away and said.
Upon hearing Jiang Li's words, the group looked over there and indeed saw the little monkey perched in the tree.
"Hey, this monkey is really ugly."
Fang Qingxun looked at the little monkey in the tree and said disdainfully.
As if the little monkey could understand Fang Qingxun's words, it threw the peach in its hand back at Fang Qingxun.
"Ugh, you ugly thing, you get upset when I talk to you, and you even hit me, huh?"
Fang Qingxun's short temper flared up, and she picked up a pine cone from the ground to retaliate.
The human and the monkey were fighting fiercely, and Fu Xiaxia laughed as she tried to break them up. Fortunately, they were both exhausted in the end and finally stopped.
"Little monkey, come here and I'll give you something delicious." Jiang Li looked at the monkey that was always not far from him and decided to lure it away.
The monkey tilted its head and thought for a long time, but in the end it couldn't resist wanting to eat the banana in Jiang Li's hand, and tentatively walked towards Jiang Li from a distance.
She carefully took a banana from Jiang Li's hand after landing, walked a few steps away, peeled it slowly, and ate it. After finishing, she wanted more and looked at Jiang Li again.
"You still want it, right? Come here and I'll give it to you. I won't hurt you," Jiang Li said softly, squatting on the ground.
As if it understood, the little monkey came over and sat down next to Jiang Li, slowly peeling and eating a banana.
Where are your parents? Why are you all alone?
Jiang Li handed over the banana in her hand and whispered.
"Jiang Li, how could a beast understand what you're saying?"
Fang Qingxun also sat on the ground, watching the little monkey eating bananas and muttering to himself. The others also came over.
"squeak!"
The little monkey seemed unhappy that Fang Qingxun called it an animal, so it stood up, bared its teeth, and barked at Fang Qingxun.
"It's quite intelligent."
Shi Lin noticed that the little monkey seemed to understand.
