Chapter 130 Settlement

After making their decision, the group set off again in their speedboat, heading towards the Dragon City base.

After traveling for almost a week, the group was exhausted, so they turned into an abandoned city to find a place to stay.

The speedboat slowly entered, and Jiang Li looked at the devastated city after the disaster. His lips pursed slightly. The group remained silent throughout the journey until they saw an office building that was relatively undamaged.

All the glass on the outside of the office building was shattered, and the once-smooth marble floor tiles were now covered with light brown mud and sand.

The building, which is more than ten stories high, is only one-third submerged by the floodwaters.

The signs of the receding seawater were becoming increasingly obvious, and Jiang Li felt that the water would recede completely in about half a month.

Taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, they parked the speedboat near the building, and the group stepped into the building one after the other.

"Ugh, it's so dirty."

As soon as Fu Xiaxia stepped in, the black soles of her shoes were covered in brown mud.

As soon as she finished speaking, the others immediately stepped in, following in her footsteps.

Jiang Li looked down at her foot, which she couldn't retract in time, and frowned.

Gu Jin smiled and said after seeing it.

"It's okay, it'll be clean after a quick sweep."

After everyone disembarked, they cautiously scanned their surroundings, while Jiang Li quickly stored the speedboat away from his spatial storage.

They found no other people's footprints in the office building, indicating that no one had lived there.

After searching for a long time, the group finally found a relatively clean and secluded place, which was the storage room near the top floor.

Its location is relatively high, so when the flood comes, the water pressure is relatively smaller. Except for a piece of the door panel that is damaged, the walls are in pretty good condition.

Most importantly, this storage room has no glass, so resting here doesn't feel like living in a bare house. The size is about right for the few of them to live in, while the other places are no longer suitable for living.

After so long since the apocalypse, the door lock had long been rusted, and Gu Jin quickly dismantled the door.

After entering, Jiang Li placed a large lamp in the middle, and the group took brooms and other cleaning tools from Jiang Li's space and began cleaning. In no time, they had cleaned the storage room spotless and even replaced the door with a new one.

After finishing the work, Jiang Li took out the seawater he had collected earlier from his spatial storage and handed it to everyone to use for washing their shoes.

Jiang Li handed Gu Jin a new pair of shoes, which Gu Jin took and placed aside.

"We'll change later. You should rest first. Who wants to go with me to deal with those footprints outside?"

When they came up, they left a bunch of footprints outside. If someone with ulterior motives noticed them, their situation would become very passive.

"I'll go."

Shi Lin spoke up, and then the two of them went out to clean up the mess.

Jiang Li looked around the storage room. The space wasn't very big. Jiang Li took out three tatami mats and, along with Fu Xiaxia and the others, placed them against the wall, turning it into something like a large dormitory.

After placing the tatami mats, there wasn't much space left. We could only fit a small table, but once the table was in place, it was difficult to walk around. We could only take it out later when we needed to eat.

On the other side, Gu Jin and Shi Lin first looked around the office building, and after finding nothing amiss, they began to cover up the footprints they had left behind.

This task was quite complicated. By the time the two finished and returned to the storage room, an hour had passed. After changing their shoes, they locked the door from the inside.

The first thing the group did after settling in was to rest. The temporary peace allowed time to slip away quietly, and their biological clocks began to remind them to have dinner.

The group had all been woken up by hunger, and rubbing their rumbling stomachs, Fang Qing asked.

What are we eating today?

Jiang Li was the first to wake up. When he woke up and saw that everyone was still sleeping, he took out a book to read. When Fang Qing asked him something, he said...

"Are we having barbecue today?"

They ate very simply at sea, busy traveling, and didn't dare to eat too much.

"OK."

Gu Jin had no opinions on this matter; he would just agree to whatever Jiang Li said.

"I agree."

Fang Qingxun and Fu Xiaxia also raised their hands in agreement. The storage room was too small, and there was no room for the group to eat barbecue. So Jiang Li put the tatami mats into the space and took out the barbecue equipment.

The corn that Jiang Li planted in his space is ready to be harvested. He picked two off and will roast them over charcoal later. He also took out a few sweet potatoes.

After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, they went back to bed. The next day, Gu Jin and Fang Qingxun changed into their old shoes and went out to check on the situation outside.

When they returned from outside, Jiang Li and the others were having breakfast.

Jiang Li glanced at them, handed each of them a breakfast, and asked.

"How's the situation outside?"

The two accepted the breakfast, and Fang Qingxun spoke before Gu Jin could.

"That's good. The water level has dropped a few centimeters compared to yesterday."

"It seems the floodwaters are starting to recede."

Shi Yuan spoke up.

"It depends on the situation."

Gu Jin said while eating breakfast.

Upon hearing this news, Jiang Li was not very happy. Seeing her furrowed brows, Gu Jin asked.

Are you worried about the future?

"I was just thinking, with the weather going from cold to hot, and with all sorts of natural disasters like hail and floods, what else might happen next?"

Jiang Li took two bites of the steamed bun, chewing as she spoke. She thought that although she had never experienced a tsunami in her previous life, based on her memories from that life, the zombie outbreak was probably about to begin.
