Chapter 142 Mysterious Footprints

To avoid any accidents, the group traveled at a very fast pace this time. Apart from refueling and stopping briefly for a meal, the six of them took turns resting and driving. After discussing it, they decided to return to the first base, where they had spent the most time and felt the strongest sense of belonging. Moreover, they had become familiar with Captain Wang and his team.

They were driving on the highway. When they encountered a broken section, Jiang Li put the car into his spatial storage, and the group climbed over it. Since there was nowhere to step, Jiang Li had many items in his spatial storage that could be used as temporary bridges, so they could cross without any problems.

If there are obstacles, it will be even easier; Jiang Li can simply put it into his spatial storage.

So the group was moving quite fast, and they also noticed that because of the extreme heat, there weren't many cars on the highway, and they hadn't encountered many zombies.

It happened to be Shi Yuan's turn to drive that day, while everyone else was taking a nap at their seats. Not long after they started driving, Shi Yuan's voice rang out.

"Brother, boss, wake up! Look outside!"

"What's wrong?"

Gu Jin and Shi Lin had just fallen asleep when they peeked out the window, still half asleep. The others woke up when they heard the noise.

"This is a service area, what's wrong?"

Shi Yuan slowed down and continued speaking.

"No, look closely, those cars, those cars!"

Shi Yuan was unusually a little unsettled. The group had just woken up and were squinting as they looked toward the service area.

The group looked in that direction, and upon seeing it, Jiang Li and the others immediately came to their senses.

Under the sunlight, Jiang Li saw that many of the abandoned vehicles downstairs were flat and resembled large pieces of iron, laid out on the ground.

"What's going on?!"

Jiang's heartbeat was somewhat erratic.

"Yeah, how did they all get crushed into pieces of metal?"

Fu Xiaxia was also somewhat shocked.

"That's a bit scary! Was it flattened by something?"

Fang Qingxun was also stunned.

"No, the building didn't collapse, and there were no large rocks nearby."

As Shi Yuan spoke, he slowed the car down a bit more.

"It couldn't have been smashed; nothing could be smashed so flat."

Shi Lin also offered his analysis from the side.

In a short moment, Gu Jin considered many possibilities, and then continued to speak.

"It looks more like it was stepped on and flattened by something!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the others stared at Gu Jin. Gu Jin's words made them afraid to think any further; the thought was terrifying!

"What enormous creature must it be to trample all these cars like this in one go!"

Fang Qingxun sighed.

"An elephant? Could it be a mutated elephant?"

Suddenly, Fu Xiaxia blurted out this conjecture.

When it comes to the largest land animal, the elephant is undoubtedly the one, and perhaps only the elephant possesses the weight and strength to match it.

"Very likely."

Jiang Li nodded and said.

“Indeed, the wild animals in the zoo have long since escaped. Jiang Li and I encountered tigers before, but they hadn’t mutated yet.”

Gu Jin thought of the time when he encountered a tiger and Jiang Li came to his rescue.

"Look over there! There's a huge footprint on the ground right there!"

Jiang Li, with his sharp eyes, noticed another anomaly.

Sure enough, the group saw a deep footprint in the spot Jiang Li pointed to!

The footprint was deeply embedded in the soil, measuring one meter in width and over two meters in length.

Upon seeing this, all six were surprised, and then fell into deep thought...

Staring at the huge footprint, the six remained silent for a long time. Before they knew it, Shi Lin had also stopped the car in the same spot.

"Hey, brothers and sisters, are elephant footprints really that big?"

Fang Qingxun was the first to speak.

"No! Absolutely not! This footprint isn't from an elephant."

Fu Xiaxia answered affirmatively.

"An elephant's foot is only about 50 centimeters long, it can't be that big!"

Jiang Li also spoke up affirmatively.

"What could that be? It scared the hell out of me."

Fang Qingxun shuddered involuntarily.

In fact, not only Fang Qingxun, but the others also felt a chill in their hearts.

"Captain, should we get out of the car and take a closer look?"

Shi Yuan said softly.

"No, there are too many unstable factors here. We should leave this place as soon as possible."

Gu Jin was a little worried, fearing that there might be other things left near the service area. Suppressing her curiosity, she quickly told Shi Yuan to continue driving.

"good!"

Shi Yuan slammed on the gas pedal and drove away quickly. A few minutes later, the car was already far away.

The footprint startled everyone; after all, fear stems from the unknown, and that enormous footprint was truly beyond their comprehension.

Jiang Li couldn't imagine what kind of enormous creature could leave such a large footprint.

Animal mutations and zombies have already exceeded the scope of human knowledge.

"Don't overthink it. We'll just avoid running into each other after we leave here."

Seeing that everyone was still a bit dazed, Gu Jin comforted them, saying that he had also observed that the footprints were not in the direction they were currently moving, so they probably wouldn't be able to reach them.

After driving for several more days, everyone was a bit tired, so they decided to find a place nearby to rest for a few days before setting off again.
