After walking for a while, the group saw an artificial lake ahead. On either side of the lake was an arched stone bridge, both of which looked exactly the same. Several zombies were wandering on the left bridge.
The group chose to walk across the rainbow bridge on the right, where they did not see any trace of zombies.
Once on the bridge, Jiang Li still retained some interest and admired the scenery for a while. The artificial lake was quite beautiful, with exquisite sculptures carved in the center. Unfortunately, the center of the lake was dry.
There are also several skeletons below. If it weren't for these, it would be quite nice to wander around here.
As soon as they stepped off the bridge, they discovered a dozen cats on the bank, heads down, gnawing on the corpse of a zombie.
"A mutated zombie cat?"
Fang Qingxun naturally gave them names.
Because it was obvious that they had become like zombies, and were even larger than ordinary cats, so they must have mutated. Their fur was falling out severely, and some of their flesh was already rotting. In particular, the eyes of these two cats were glowing red.
The moment Jiang Li and his companions discovered the mutated zombie cat, the zombie cat also discovered them!
"Meow—! Meow—!"
These two cries are anything but cute; compared to normal cats, the cries of mutated zombie cats are much sharper!
The mutated zombie cats simultaneously abandoned their food and pounced on Jiang Li and his companions.
"So fast!"
Jiang Li exclaimed in surprise and dodged to the side.
Seeing that its attack had failed, the mutated zombie cat landed and pounced again.
Jiang Li drew his knife in time and held it in front of him.
"Ding, ding—!"
The mutated zombie cat's claws gripped the Tang sword, making a crisp sound, while the others on the other side blocked the zombie cat's attack.
"Huh? It's fast, but it's weak."
The brief collision prompted Jiang Li to make an analysis.
The mutated zombie cats were very fast. The people blocking the attack had to take out their guns. The zombie cats were fast and numerous, so it was really difficult to hit a vital spot and kill them in one blow.
"A proactive attack is impossible; these zombie cats are much faster than us."
Jiang Li cautiously took a step back, his mind racing as he considered how to respond.
"Wait for their attack, look for an opportunity when they're in the air!"
Jiang Li addressed everyone.
The zombie cats charged at Jiang Li again, this time two at once. There was no time to fire, so Jiang Li tilted his head back and bent down to dodge the first attack.
Immediately afterwards, he braced his hands on the ground, flipped himself into an upside-down position, and when the second zombie cat arrived, he seized the opportunity and kicked the zombie cat in the stomach.
The second zombie cat was kicked about five meters into the air by Jiang Li. Gu Jin, who was standing nearby, was ready and quickly fired, finally killing the zombie cat.
The other cat had already rushed towards Shi Lin when Jiang Li dodged it, but Shi Lin dodged it again, and then Shi Yuan shot and killed it.
The group then worked together, using this method to kill the mutated zombie cats one after another, until they finally dealt with all the cats.
These zombie cats didn't pose a significant threat to them this time.
Jiang Li always felt that the zombie cat after its transformation was silly, only knowing how to attack based on instinct, without any skills whatsoever, except that it was faster, without any other unnecessary movements.
These mutated cats must have eaten zombie flesh and become infected before turning into zombie cats.
The commotion they made attracted the zombies from before. After dealing with the zombies, they quickly moved to a different location.
Finally, the group arrived at the entrance of the cross-river bridge. The bridge stretched as far as the eye could see, but thankfully the weather was good and there was no fog on the river.
There were a few scattered cars on the bridge, and the group did not see any zombies or any danger for the time being.
Before they came, the group had discussed that if they didn't take the bridge, they would have to take a detour, which would take four or five more days and be more dangerous. The bridge would be faster, but there would be no place to hide, and if they encountered any danger, they would have to tough it out.
However, after discussing it, the group decided to take the bridge. Since they would encounter danger no matter where they went, they might as well save some time.
Jiang Li took out a car from his spatial storage, and after everyone got in, they officially entered the cross-river bridge.
5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes...
For the first half of the trip, everyone got along well and everything went smoothly.
And so, without realizing it, Jiang Li vaguely saw the exit of the bridge.
Her heart was somewhat at ease.
"Phew~ Thank goodness everything's alright, we're almost there."
Fang Qingxun spoke up.
However, Gu Jin noticed something amiss the next moment.
He saw that a large group of zombified seagulls had gathered on the riverbank and were eating the corpses of some zombies. After Gu Jin stopped, the others also saw these seagulls.
"Damn, are we really that unlucky? We didn't see any of them at all, where did so many come from?!"
Fang Qingxun muttered to himself.
They didn't have time to think about the problem too much, because at the same time they discovered the zombie-like seagulls, the zombie-like seagulls also discovered them.
Seeing the flock of seagulls taking flight, the group's expressions changed slightly; there was nowhere to hide.
"Speed up."
As Gu Jin shouted, Fang Qingxun floored the accelerator and sped towards the other side.
Jiang Li took out a flamethrower and handed it to everyone. They had some experience dealing with flying animals.
