Chapter Fifty-Three: Aggressive

These past few days, apart from Fang Qingxun who was absent, the group has been busy making jerky.

Once these are done, there won't be any more to do for a while; it'll be enough to feed several people for a period of time.

During the few days Fang Qingxun was away, Jiang Li stayed in Gu Jin's room, while Gu Jin slept in Fang Qingxun's room to avoid Jiang Li getting tired from rushing around every day.

Fang Qingxun returned on the afternoon of the third day. After he returned, Captain Wang informed Jiang Li and the others that they would set off for the back mountain the day after tomorrow.

The day Fang Qing returned, Jiang Li went back to his small building.

It seems that a few new families have moved into the building recently. There is one more family on the first floor and one on the fourth floor. Jiang Li has never seen the people inside, but he has seen the lights on in these rooms.

He went up to the third floor, knocked on He Shan's door, and handed her some pork jerky that Jiang Li had made himself.

After that, I went back to my room and waited until the day I was to leave for the back mountain.

In the morning, Jiang Li dressed neatly, slung his hiking backpack over his shoulder, and set off with Gu Jin and the others to the back mountain to meet up with Captain Wang and the others.

There were a few people in the group who weren't part of Captain Wang's team; they were there on assignment from the service hall.

There were three men and one woman. Jiang Li recognized the woman, and Gu Jin also recognized her. She was Chen Sisi, who was always at the stairwell at the beginning of the apocalypse.

I never expected to run into her here.

She looks much more normal now than when I last saw her. This time she didn't make her face look deathly white. But thinking about it, it makes sense. These days, even getting enough to eat is a problem, let alone having cosmetics.

To be honest, even without makeup, Chen Sisi's face is still quite pretty. Plus, she wasn't wearing glasses, so the area around her eyes was red from the cold, making her look rather pitiful. No wonder she was able to come with the others to do the mission looking like that.

Otherwise, who would bring along a woman who is completely helpless in this situation?

When Chen Sisi saw Jiang Li looking over, she quickly avoided his gaze, for she had personally witnessed Jiang Li killing someone.

Chen Sisi hid behind Gao Zhangwu. Gao Zhangwu sensed Chen Sisi's movement and asked.

"What's wrong?"

Chen Sisi was initially afraid of Jiang Li, but thinking about Gao Zhangwu's attitude towards her and knowing that he liked her, she became bolder and then exaggeratedly spoke ill of Jiang Li to Gao Zhangwu.

On the other side, Jiang Li glanced at Chen Sisi and then ignored her. After a while, he felt a gaze on him.

Looking in that direction, he saw the man next to Chen Sisi looking at him. When the man saw that Jiang Li had noticed him looking at her, he quickly looked away.

Chen Sisi, feeling a little guilty, stepped back slightly. Seeing this, Gao Zhangwu became even more convinced that Jiang Li had bullied Chen Sisi.

Jiang Li glanced at them and then ignored them. If Chen Sisi didn't repent and continued to cause trouble, he wouldn't mind teaching her a lesson.

The wall that was knocked down by wild boars on the back mountain has been demolished and rebuilt. A relatively large door was left in the middle of the wall, which can be used to transport supplies.

Jiang Li looked up at the mountain from the foot of the mountain. The trees here were the same as those on the mountain Jiang Li and the others had visited before, with only bare branches remaining. However, this mountain was much larger than the previous one.

After everyone arrived, Captain Wang led them up the mountain, because there was a mountain behind the wall, and they couldn't drive.

Captain Wang had informed them in advance that because the mountain behind them was quite large, they might have to spend the night there for a few days, and everyone would be eating their own food, so everyone had prepared a lot of supplies.

The snow in the mountains was very thick, and the group was wearing many heavy layers of clothing and carrying backpacks, so their movement was very slow.

Jiang Li and his group followed at the very back, carrying hiking sticks.

The group followed the route the wild boar had taken down the mountain, and there were traces of people from the base walking along the roadside from the previous incident.

The higher you go, the more animal tracks you see, but since everyone's mission is to find out why the wild boars are going berserk, no one is hunting.

After walking for a long time without finding anything, Captain Wang told everyone to rest and replenish their energy.

While eating to replenish his energy, Captain Wang explained the situation in the mountains to everyone.

"A little further on is the place where our people clashed with the wild boars before, and we haven't been able to go any further than that."

Jiang Li looked up and indeed saw some bloodstains by the roadside. He didn't know if they were from wild boars or humans. Some of the bloodstains were covered by snow, while others were still exposed.

Jiang Li and the others exercised regularly and were in better physical condition than the average person. While everyone else was resting, Gu Jin and Jiang Li wandered around the neighborhood.

Seeing Jiang Li and Gu Jin trying to stand up and walk away, he shouted loudly.

"Why are you two acting alone? Didn't you hear Captain Wang say to rest where you are? If you wander around now, you'll run out of energy and hold the team back."

Captain Wang looked at Chen Sisi with an expression as if she were an idiot, thinking to himself, "If you're going to cause trouble, don't drag me into it."

Jiang Li turned around and looked coldly at Chen Sisi.

"Keep shouting, keep shouting, shout louder and you'll trigger an avalanche. You want to die, but nobody wants to go with you."

Besides, we weren't even on your team to begin with. What's wrong with operating alone? Captain Wang didn't say anything, so what right do you have to say that?

Everyone who heard Jiang Li's words cast disgusted glances at Chen Sisi. How could she have no common sense? Didn't she know that shouting would trigger an avalanche? Besides, what did it matter to her whether other people left or not?

"Seriously, if you're looking to die, don't drag others down with you."

"Who says otherwise? Being on the same team as her is bad luck."
