Chapter Forty-Six: The Hunt

The group found an open space, cleared the snow, and then Jiang Li took out a small table and several small stools from his spatial storage so that they could sit down. He then took out lunchboxes and handed them to them.

The lunchbox Jiang Li took out contained braised chicken that she had made herself.

After finishing his meal, Jiang Li took out the gas canister, opened a can of meat, poured it into a pot, added some water, and started cooking.

Then the group quickly climbed the tree, found a good spot, and lay in ambush.

Gu Jin naturally stayed on the same tree as Jiang Li. Fortunately, the trees were all very sturdy, otherwise, it would have been impossible for two people to stay on one tree.

Gu Jin first swept the snow off the tree trunk and let Jiang Li sit on it, then she went to sit on another tree trunk herself.

The aroma from the pot grew stronger and stronger. Following the scent, Fang Qing couldn't resist taking out some snacks from his pocket and eating a few bites.

Luckily, there was no one around, otherwise the smell would probably have attracted people.

After a while, everyone heard noises coming from the woods.

Jiang Li and Gu Jin looked into the woods and saw black figures running out from the depths of the forest, clearly visible in the snow.

They were enormous and very fast; as they got closer, you could tell they were wild boars.

"shot."

Gu Jin pulled the trigger as soon as he uttered those two words, and the others followed suit.

Jiang Li didn't hesitate; he aimed and fired in one smooth motion.

This time, Jiang Li used the gun that Gu Jin had given him before. This gun was very powerful, and a single shot brought the wild boar to the ground instantly.

Jiang Li's aim isn't as good as others; sometimes he misses or goes astray a few times.

However, Gu Jin and his group almost always got headshots. Gu Jin, in particular, was cold and decisive, invincible, and dazzling.

Even Fang Qingxun, who is usually the most carefree, has a different aura.

Jiang Li glanced at Gu Jin, then immediately turned back to focus on firing.

For Jiang Li, this was not only a hunting trip, but also a good opportunity to practice his marksmanship.

After all, there aren't usually so many opportunities or so many animals for him to practice with.

The smell of blood wafted through the air, attracting more than a dozen wolves.

The wolf tried to drag the fallen wild boar away, but Jiang Li and his men weren't about to give them the chance. A few shots later, the wolf also fell to the ground.

Other small animals were still coming out at first, but later they disappeared completely.

After the group killed more than a dozen wild boars and more than a dozen wolves, no more animals charged at them.

There were some dark shadows in the distance, but they didn't approach. Jiang Li took out his binoculars and looked in that direction, discovering that they were wild boars and wolves.

The wolves and wild boars didn't fight. Jiang Li felt as if they were staring at him, and they didn't charge at him again.

It seems the animals of the apocalypse have become smarter. Knowing that coming over would be futile, they all turned around and returned to the depths of the mountains.

Jiang Li put down his binoculars only after they were out of sight, assuming they wouldn't come out again.

I told everyone what I had seen, and then I started to climb down the tree and sort through my spoils.

Gu Jin climbed down the tree first, opened her arms, and waited for Jiang Li under the tree.

"I'll take you down."

"Need not."

As Jiang Li approached the tree, he jumped down. He hadn't trained for nothing; he was confident he could handle this height.

Gu Jin smiled and said nothing more.

"I'll go put the pot away first."

I went to the pot, added water and kept boiling it. A layer of white foam had already floated on top, but fortunately it hadn't boiled dry, so it would still be edible later.

After storing the items in his spatial storage, he and Gu Jin went into the forest to collect the prey they had just killed.

Fu Xiaxia and the others had already dragged back several wolves and wild boars that were farther away, and they all decided to store the food in Jiang Li's space.

When we got close to the base, we took some more out and put it in the car to tow back to the base. Since everyone would definitely not want to eat wolf meat after having wild boar meat, we planned to exchange the wolf meat for points at the base.

Among the prey were two rabbits and a chicken. Everyone was quite satisfied with the overall harvest, mainly because Jiang Li had his space, so everyone could take their hunted animals back with them, and there was no issue of not being able to store them.

After they finished packing, they lingered in the woods for a while and found several kinds of wild mushrooms. After confirming that they were edible, they picked some, which would be perfect for stewing pork tripe soup.

It was already four or five o'clock when the group returned to the foot of the mountain. They had burned off their energy quickly from the exercise, and Jiang Li, thinking about the meat they had just eaten, suggested having hot pot. Of course, the others had no objections.

Jiang Li took out the RV she had previously stockpiled from her spatial storage, intending to eat there, where she could turn on the air conditioning and make it warmer.

"Wow, girl, you even have a motorhome! It feels like your space is a treasure chest!"

"I just put it in when I saw it. Anyway, there's plenty of space, and I might need it someday. Look, I'm using it now."

"Yes, it's good to take precautions." Gu Jin agreed with Jiang Li's answer.

The group entered the RV and turned on the air conditioning to warm up the room.

Jiang Li asked the group questions.

What kind of hot pot base would you like?

"Spicy."

Upon hearing the sound, everyone turned to look, because this time it wasn't Fang Qingxun who spoke first, but Shi Lin.

Jiang Li couldn't help but look over as well.

Everyone found it unbelievable, especially Fang Qingxun, who looked like he had seen a ghost. He seriously suspected that Shi Lin had deliberately avoided talking to him back then.

Shi Lin was unusually embarrassed by everyone's stares, and of course, he didn't say anything more after that.

"My brother prefers hot pot," Shi Yuan explained, helping Shi Lin out.
