“I also saw that Captain Wang was heading in that direction.”
Fu Xiaxia also spoke up, saying that since Gu Jin and Fu Xiaxia both saw it, it meant that Captain Wang really did go to the back mountain.
"We're planning to go to the back mountain, what about you?"
Gu Jin looked at Xu Yunxu and the others.
Xu Yunxu and the others exchanged glances, and finally Xu Yunxu spoke up.
"We won't go; we plan to rescue the others."
They knew their own limitations; there were definitely more wild animals in the back mountain, and they probably didn't have the ability to escape unscathed. However, he admired Gu Jin and the others; they had the ability and confidence to still decide to go to the back mountain under these circumstances.
"Okay, then until we meet again."
"Okay, until we meet again."
After exchanging greetings, they went their separate ways.
As Jiang Li and his group advanced, they killed wild animals along the way. It seemed that there weren't many wild animals left in the base, and the ones in the back mountain had probably been lured away.
Halfway there, the group suddenly heard a series of loud "bang, bang, bang" sounds, which were deafening.
Gu Jin quickly covered Jiang Li's ears, protected her, and squatted down. She looked towards the source of the sound, which was the back mountain, where a fire was lit. The sound lasted for quite a while before stopping.
Jiang Li and the others had no idea what had happened, so they sped up and rushed over.
As they approached the back of the mountain, the number of wild animals increased significantly. The group fought their way in and finally learned what had happened.
All the lights near the wall were on; Captain Wang must have turned on the power in the area, as the whole area was clearly illuminated.
There used to be a certain distance between the wall and the back mountain, but now the middle has been blown up, creating a ravine. The wild animals have been divided into two groups: one group is in the back mountain, and the other group is in the base. It is clear that only a small number of them remained in the base.
Captain Wang and his men split into three groups: one group fought off the wild animals in the base, another group stopped the wild animals in the back mountain (a few of which could still get through), and the others prepared explosives, presumably to blast the ravine deeper.
No wonder the base brought so many people this time; it turns out they had this in mind. This is indeed the most effective method so far.
Jiang Li and his group joined the battle. The beasts on the ground were actually not too bad, but the flying ones were the real challenge. The ravines and obstacles couldn't stop these winged creatures.
There are bats, bees, and all sorts of birds, which are really annoying, especially the bees. They are small, and it's fine when they are together, but if one of them is separated from the swarm, you won't even notice it. Although you can use fire, there are always some oversights, and getting bitten by one is terrible.
Jiang Li and his group cooperated seamlessly, and the fight became increasingly enjoyable, with almost no openings.
The group formed a circle, covering each other, and took turns using flamethrowers and pistols. Wherever they went, there were corpses everywhere, all of them wild beasts.
The six of them immediately relieved the pressure on everyone, and many people began to imitate Jiang Li and his team's fighting style. However, this requires teamwork and mutual trust, which not everyone can do.
"Quickly, cover your ears."
After a while, the captain called out to everyone. He had also seen Jiang Li and the others coming over. He mainly wanted to remind them that the people here had already gone through the process once, so the procedure was very clear.
When Captain Wang reminded everyone, they all retreated. Jiang Li and the others had already put on earplugs when they saw the bomb, and now they followed the troops, fighting off the wild animals as they retreated until they reached a safe position. Captain Wang gave the order.
"ignition."
The group holding the remote control pressed the button simultaneously, and another loud bang rang out from the ravine. The wild animals that tried to sneak out of the back mountain to the base when no one was around were blown to smithereens.
Even wild animals that were very close to the ravine were not spared; they were all either killed or wounded.
Once the noise subsided, Captain Wang immediately led his men to guard the vicinity of the ditch. The smoke had not yet dissipated, and they were unsure if the ditch could keep out wild animals. They had to stay nearby and deal with any wild animals that came out, leaving them no chance.
Sure enough, soon after, wild beasts leaped out of the smoke, only to be hit and fall into the ravine.
Captain Wang and his men bombed the ravine seven or eight more times before no more wild animals came out. The wild animals in the back mountain seemed very angry that the group was reluctant to leave. They were angry that they could not cross the ravine to hunt their prey, but in the end they could only return to the mountain.
Now we only need to deal with the ones on the ground and in the air.
The problems on the ground can be solved quickly, but those in the air are a bit more troublesome.
There were simply too many flying creatures in the sky for them to deal with all at once, so they decided to find other people and return to the dungeon. There were very few wild beasts left on the base, and the people from the base would come to clear them out later.
Jiang Li and his group had a brief conversation with Captain Wang on the way, and learned that the cattle Captain Wang and his men were leading were riddled with bombs, and their backpacks were also mostly filled with them, with the main objective being to drive the wild animals back.
While saving lives is important, more people will die if the wild animals aren't driven away.
The main force moved forward, heading towards the place where the survivors had been. As they approached, they saw Xu Yunxu leading the group out and heading towards the entrance to the underground city.
"Is something wrong?"
Captain Wang and his men asked a few questions.
"There was an animal attack just now, so it's no longer a suitable place for people to stay. Therefore, everyone has decided to come out and head to the entrance."
