Chapter Ninety-Six Methods

"Do you remember how we hunted in the mountains before? We can use that method."

Jiang Li suggested.

"It's okay if we don't have a pot right now."

Gu Jin glanced at Xu Yunxu and the others; with them around, Jiang Li couldn't use the space.

Xu Yunxu and the others didn't know what method Jiang Li and the others were talking about, so they all looked at Gu Jin and the others with questions.

"We don't need a pot. We can just pick up the animal carcass, put it over a fire, and roast it like a suckling pig. There's a small street lamp here that was knocked down by an animal, so we can use that as a frame. Then we can find some ropes. If we don't have any, we can use some thick tree branches."

Both sides agreed, so they split into three teams and headed toward the three gates. Fang Qingxun, Fu Xiaxia, Shi Lin, and Shi Yuan were in one team, while Jiang Li and Gu Jin were in another team with Xu Yunxu and Lin Miao. The other three members of Team Three formed a separate team.

The group quickly collected streetlights and other items that could be used as ropes. Xu Yunxu and his team members looked at Jiang Li and the others' shoes with envy. These shoes could save a lot of energy, but they could only admire them from afar.

Because Jiang Li and his group acted quickly and found a lot of things, they set off first to start working on it, while the others followed behind.

Although the small lampposts are smaller than usual, they are still quite heavy. Two people can only carry one at a time, but they found quite a few ropes.

After leaving Xu Yunxu and the others' sight, Jiang Li put a few of them into his spatial storage. He could then pretend that he had found them nearby and wouldn't have to move them from a great distance.

Jiang Li and Gu Jin were the first to arrive outside the base. They found a spot a bit far from the gate and started setting up scaffolding. By the time Jiang Li and Gu Jin had finished setting up one side, Xu Yunxu and Lin Miao had already arrived. Luckily, Jiang Li and Gu Jin had taken care of the wild animals on the way. Otherwise, they wouldn't have arrived so quickly.

"You guys start setting it up, Gu Jin and I will go find a few more lampposts."

Jiang Li said to Xu Yunxu and the other person that it would take three poles to support it stably.

"good."

Xu Yunxu and Lin Miao said at the same time that while Jiang Li and Gu Jin were looking for poles, they went to find some branches to start a fire.

When Gu Jin and the others returned, the two had already started a fire.

"Let's go find a wild animal carcass."

When Xu Yunxu saw the two return, he said, "We can't let Jiang Li and the others do all the work."

After Gu Jin and the others finished, a fire lit up at the other gate, which was in the direction Fang Qingxun and the others were heading. However, the last gate remained unlit.

"Oh no, something's happened."

The four of them spoke at the same time, and then quickly ran towards the door.

When they arrived, they found the three of them surrounded by a bunch of snakes. If they hadn't lit torches and kept waving them, they probably would have died. Although they were temporarily safe, they could only stand there and couldn't move.

Xu Yunxu and Lin Miao rushed to help when they saw this, and Gu Jin and Jiang Li also came to help. With the help of Jiang Li and the others, the three of them were in much better condition.

"Lead them out of the base."

Gu Jin spoke to the others, then led the way out of the base's main gate.

The others followed, followed by a whole bunch of snakes.

Jiang Li and Gu Jin turned the flamethrower up to its maximum and kept waving it at the snakes, while the others found tree branches to light fires to deal with the snake swarm.

The snakes were burned to death and charred, emitting a foul odor. After finally dealing with the snakes, the group had no time to breathe a sigh of relief when they heard a vibration coming from not far away.

"Oh no, the wild animals nearby have already smelled the scent and are coming. We have to leave immediately."

Jiang Li and Gu Jin exchanged a glance and then immediately headed towards the base's gate. By the time they arrived, they could already see black dots not far away. The group ran into a nearby building and then climbed upstairs.

By the time everyone climbed upstairs, the pack of wild beasts had arrived. Below were all sorts of wild animals, some of which were fighting each other as they ran, while various flying creatures were also flying in the sky.

"I wonder how Fu Xiaxia and the others are doing."

Jiang Li said worriedly.

"Don't worry, they still have the skills to survive."

Gu Jin comforted Jiang Li.

“Look over there, aren’t those the people you were talking about?”

Lin Miao pointed to four figures in a building across the street and said, "They're a bit far away, so it's not very clear."

Jiang Li and Gu Jin went to another bedside. There seemed to be four figures in a building across the street. Jiang Li took out a pair of binoculars from his backpack and looked inside, confirming that it was Fu Xiaxia and the others.

Jiang Li handed the binoculars in his hand to Gu Jin, who took them and glanced at them.

"It's them."

Fu Xiaxia and the others on the other side seemed to have noticed them as well, and waved to Jiang Li and Gu Jin. Jiang Li also waved back. At this moment, no one made a sound, for fear of attracting the attention of wild beasts.

I felt relieved once I confirmed that the other party was safe.

Actually, Fu Xiaxia and the others had just finished their work when they noticed that the fire hadn't been lit at the other door. Knowing something was wrong, they rushed over to check, but they arrived quite late and were from the furthest place. By the time they got here, the wild beasts were coming, so they just randomly went into a building and missed Jiang Li and the others.

Some of the wild animals in this area had already been lured to the vicinity of the plaza, and some had been dealt with by Jiang Li and his team. However, the base is quite large, and there are still many gathered here now.

Wild animals have a more sensitive sense of smell than humans, and the smell becomes even stronger after fire is used. They all rush towards the source of the fragrance. The third door is full of snake corpses, and many wild animals are heading towards this door as well.

A vast herd of animals rushed through the gate towards the food. There was only one animal outside, and it would soon be devoured. They were worried that the wild beasts might return, so they had to close the gate before they did.

Fortunately, Jiang Li and his group had already obtained the remote control for the gate when they first came, so they could close it at any time.

Once most of the wild animals had left, leaving only a few scattered ones, everyone closed the doors. The wild animals outside had finished eating the carcasses and, unable to find their way back, began to run in other directions. Some animals remained in place, fighting each other.

There aren't many wild beasts left in the base, and the few of them can handle them easily.

The group met up downstairs, and a wild animal saw them and tried to rush up, but was quickly dealt with by the group.

"What should we do next?"

After the group dealt with the wild beast, Xu Yunxu asked if they had completed their mission.

"Let's go check the back mountain; we don't know if any other wild animals have gone out."

Gu Jin replied.

"The wall behind the mountain has already collapsed, so even if we drive the wild animals away, it doesn't seem to make any difference. They'll just come back anyway."

Jiang Li raised his question: the back mountain couldn't stop the wild beasts at all.

"Maybe the base has some solutions. I remember Captain Wang went in the direction of the back mountain."

Gu Jin noticed that Captain Wang hadn't gone to rescue the hostages, but instead headed towards the back mountain. They must have come up with some plan.
