Chapter Thirty-Nine: Honey-Glazed Roast Suckling Pig

The group left the service center and headed home. Captain Wang said he could arrange for someone to take the wild boar to their lodgings, so they were heading back empty-handed.

"Oh, if only someone could make roast suckling pig, just thinking about it makes my mouth water."

Fang Qingxun had wanted to eat the wild boar as soon as she saw it, but unfortunately, none of the people in her team knew how to cook, so she could only dream about it.

Although Fu Xiaxia is a woman, she has never cooked before, and the other men have even less experience. However, they can cook the food properly, but the taste is not very good.

"Actually, I know a little bit."

After Jiang Li finished speaking, the group stopped and stared at him with bright eyes. Even Shi Lin, who was usually quiet and reserved, looked at Jiang Li.

Fang Qingxun and Fu Xiaxia rushed up to Jiang Li and asked if it was true, as everyone wanted to eat something delicious.

"Well, I might know a little bit, but it might not taste very good, since this is my first time cooking wild boar meat."

Jiang Li suddenly felt a little uncomfortable being stared at by the group, wondering if he had said something wrong.

Fang Qingxun was very excited after hearing this and frantically signaled to Gu Jin, hoping that Gu Jin would speak up.

Gu Jin understood Fang Qingxun's meaning. He actually wanted to eat too, but he was too embarrassed to ask. Finally, under the gaze of others, he spoke up.

"Jiang Li, could you help me make a roast suckling pig? We can all eat it together."

"It's possible, but I'm afraid I won't make it taste good."

Jiang Li also really wanted to eat roast suckling pig. He had never eaten roasted wild boar before. He used to make it into jerky, which was convenient to carry and preserve. He could only eat it a few times. So he was very interested in Fang Qingxun's suggestion.

"It's okay, it's okay, it would taste even worse if we made it ourselves, and I trust your sister." This time, before Gu Jin could speak, Fang Qingxun couldn't wait to speak.

“Yes, yes, I believe you too.” For once, Fu Xiaxia and Fang Qingxun stood on the same side.

Although Shi Lin and Shi Yuan didn't say it, their expressions conveyed the same meaning.

"Alright then, but you can't say anything if my cooking is bad." Jiang Li had to give them a heads-up first.

"Sure, sure, how about today? Fresh is always the best," Fang Qingxun said, pressing her advantage.

"Sure, do you have any seasonings over there? If not, I'll bring some with me. Also, we'll need a roasting rack for the suckling pig, but I'm not sure if the temperature is high enough to roast it properly."

Jiang Li still needs to go back and take his wild boar meat back to his room, and also prepare the things he needs.

"It's alright, we'll give it a try. As for the frame, I'll ask Captain Wang for some materials and I can make it myself. As for seasonings, we have salt and sugar. I'll go to the supermarket to see if I can buy anything else I need."

Gu Jin said that all of these issues could be resolved. As for the seasonings, he only had the basic kind, and he couldn't cook, so he didn't know what else he needed.

"No need to buy any, I have some ingredients here, I'll bring them over." It's just some seasonings, Jiang Li has that much to spare.

After making their plans, the group went their separate ways to do their own things, and Gu Jin went back to Captain Wang to ask for the materials.

When Jiang Li returned to the sixth floor, Captain Wang's men were already waiting at the door. After having the pork moved to the living room, he thanked them and gave them three sausages as a delivery fee before closing the door.

The wild boar meat that Captain Wang gave Jiang Li was quite large, more than half of what Jiang Li had requested, and Jiang Li was very satisfied with it.

Jiang Li already has several wild boar meat in his space, and he plans to make some of it into various kinds of jerky.

Spicy, five-spice, and Sichuan peppercorn flavors—enough for Jiang Li to eat for a very long time.

Jiang Li had actually wanted to bring a few live wild boars into his space to raise, but he needed to make contact with them to do so.

I couldn't get close enough to make contact, otherwise I'd probably get knocked away, so I had to give up and wait for another chance.

He put the half-headed wild boar meat into his spatial storage, then found a box, put all the seasonings he would need later into it, and then set off for Gu Jin and the others.

Gu Jin and his group were a large group, so they rented a detached villa with a yard. The villa was located at the very back, with only one side adjacent to other villas and the other side without any other houses.

There is a passageway between the two villas, which provides excellent privacy.

The courtyard was surrounded by a high wall, which was covered with shards of glass, probably put up by Gu Jin and the others later.

The main gate was a large iron gate with a smaller gate in the middle. People usually used this smaller gate to pass through, but since they knew Jiang Li was coming, they had opened the smaller gate in advance.

The gate is only opened when a vehicle is needed.

Three cars were parked in the yard, filling the space completely, leaving only a narrow path for people to walk on.

I wasn't planning on roasting the pig in the yard today. It's so cold out there. If the wind blows and it starts snowing, the pig won't be cooked, and we'll freeze to death before we are.

The house has two floors, and the interior is all unfinished. Downstairs, there are two bedrooms, a bathroom, and the living room, kitchen, and dining area are connected together.

The rooms in the villa are a bit larger than the small suite in Jiang Li's apartment.

Jiang Li didn't go up to the second floor, but based on the layout downstairs, there should be four rooms and two toilets upstairs.

The rooms downstairs are all empty; it seems they all live upstairs.

When Jiang Li walked in, Fu Xiaxia, Shi Lin, and Shi Yuan were dealing with wild boar in the yard.

"Jiang Li, is there anything I should be careful about?" It was Fu Xiaxia who spoke.

"Keep the pig brains, intestines, and liver; I can cook some dishes with them. I'll take care of the rest." These are all good stuff.

"good."

Jiang Li then explained the general procedure to them, and the group quickly cleaned it up as Jiang Li had instructed, their knife skills were swift and efficient.

While the others were processing the food, Jiang Li had already prepared the sauce, which he would apply to the wild boar later.

After a while, Gu Jin and Fang Qingxun returned with a grill and some charcoal.

The bottom of the grill can hold charcoal, and the top is for placing wild boar.

Because wild boars are quite large, the frame was also made very large, making the living room seem a bit small.

After Shi Yuan and the others finished dealing with the wild boar, Jiang Li took over and processed it even more meticulously.

The lymph nodes and fat on the wild boar's neck should be removed, otherwise it will have a foul smell. Wild boar meat is relatively firm and doesn't have much fat.

Make a few cuts in the ribs and meat of the wild boar that are difficult to cook through, then spread the prepared sauce evenly over the wild boar, including the cut areas.

The wild boar was quite large, so several people put on disposable gloves and worked together to apply the ointment to it, making sure to cover it inside and out.

After coating, it needs to marinate for a while, at least half an hour, to really absorb the flavor. During the marinating process, Jiang Li cleaned up the internal organs and saved them for later stir-frying.
