Chapter Thirty-One: Decorating the New Home

The privacy film is one-way; those outside cannot see in, but those inside can see out, and it does not affect the amount of light passing through.

Then he took out a small table and stool from the space, placed them in the living room, sat down, and put a clay pot rice and a plate of shrimp on the table to eat.

After finishing eating and resting for a while, Jiang Li began to clean the room.

Jiang Li first put anti-peeping film on all the windows, and then changed the lock cylinder of the security door to her own. She was never at ease having a spare key with someone else.

We also need to install another iron gate like the one we had before outside. Although we already have one inside, I need to go out tomorrow to have an excuse to move it back.

After locking the door, I went into the master bedroom, swept the floor to remove the dust, and then took out wood-grain floor stickers from the storage space. These floor stickers are very easy to install; just lay them down and press the clips in place. They can be reused. Jiang Li laid out light-colored flooring.

These were things Jiang Li picked up from a renovation company he encountered on the road, along with many other materials; a whole bunch of them were piled up in the space.

The flooring was laid quickly and was done in no time. Next was the walls, which were covered with white foam wall stickers. These have self-adhesive backing, so you can just stick them on. The foam will provide some insulation when extreme cold comes.

It took Jiang Li two hours to finish pasting the curtains on all four walls. Then he took out a ladder and hung curtains on the windows of the room. The curtains had three layers: a sheer curtain, a regular curtain, and a blackout curtain.

Once these things are done, the room looks quite nice. The curtains are pink, and the whole room looks very cozy.

After mopping the floor, Jiang Li took the bed out of the space and placed it near the wall, leaving a large space between the bed and the window. Then he took out the mattress and four-piece bedding set and made the bed.

Place a bedside table next to the bed for storage, and then cover the empty space with a blanket. Place a small table on the blanket, and the room is decorated.

Several hours had passed by the time everything was finished, and it was already dark outside.

Jiang Li turned on all the lights, ate a little something to tide him over, and then continued tidying up. He planned to finish everything today and then eat something slowly afterward.

Jiang Li only decorated the master bedroom, leaving the rest of the room as it was.

I cleaned the house inside and out, then moved the sofa and coffee table out of the space and placed them in the living room, while the other loose items were put in the second bedroom.

Above the bathroom faucet, Jiang Li placed a mirror and installed a stainless steel hanging shelf next to it, where he placed toiletries.

By the time all the cleaning was finished, it was already past 11 p.m. Jiang Li was covered in sweat and dust. After resting for a while until the sweat had mostly dried off, Jiang Li got up and went to the bathroom to take a shower.

A thick, rectangular plastic board was placed over the squat toilet to cover it when it was not in use, in order to mask the odor.

After taking a shower, Jiang Li returned to her bedroom. Today was the first meal after moving into her new home, so she naturally wanted to treat herself well.

I closed all the windows and curtains, sat down on the blanket by the bed, and placed the small table in front of me.

He took out the grilled fish and cola he had stocked up on from his storage space, then set up his tablet to play the TV series he had downloaded, and happily began to eat.

After finishing the meal, Jiang Li put all the tableware into his spatial storage. There were only two households in the building where Jiang Li lived, making it three households including Jiang Li's. No one lived on the fourth or fifth floors. But just in case, Jiang Li sprayed air freshener in the room and only opened the window to ventilate after confirming that there was no smell.

After the ventilation was almost complete, Jiang Li closed the window, drew the curtains, turned off the lights, and went to bed.

Wrapped in a soft blanket, Jiang Li slept soundly until dawn, waking up feeling refreshed.

After lingering in bed for a while, Jiang Li sat up, straightened the sheets, and went to wash up and eat.

After finishing breakfast, Jiang Li went downstairs, put the gasoline that had been pumped out yesterday back into the tank, and then got into his car and drove out of the base.

There are actually two entrances to the base. One is the one Jiang Li used to enter, which is specifically for registration. The other is for people inside the base, and you can't enter without a base card. There is only one exit.

Once outside the base, Jiang Li randomly chose a direction to leave. Since he was already out, he might as well look for some supplies.

Seeing that it was almost noon, Jiang Li decided to go back. After making sure no one was around, he took out the iron fence from his space. Because the iron fence was quite large, he tied it to the roof of the car with a rope. He put some of the food he had found earlier on the back seat.

Back at the base entrance, there were some cars queuing up to enter. Jiang Li didn't need to queue like them; he swiped his card at the next entrance and went straight into the base.

Back downstairs, Jiang Li first took the supplies from the back seat upstairs. Since the trip was short and there wasn't much stuff, one trip upstairs was enough. Then he came down and dragged the iron railing back upstairs.

Jiang Li installed the iron fence on the outside of the security door, and then ran an electric wire from the gap in the security door and clipped it to the iron fence.

The other wire was plugged into a socket near the door, so that the iron fence could be powered. Jiang Li covered the exposed wire with cement from his space so that people outside wouldn't notice that the iron fence was powered.

After the iron fence was installed, Jiang Li returned to his room and sat on the blanket just like yesterday. He then took out a meal from his spatial storage, wanting to try a variety of dishes.

Jiang Li picked out a little of the dishes she wanted and placed them on several plates, so that even though the portions were small, she could still enjoy a variety of dishes.

Jiang Li ate his fill of four dishes and a soup, along with rice: corn and pork rib soup, stir-fried green beans, Dongpo pork, and cold seaweed salad.

After finishing his meal, Jiang Li didn't go out immediately. He took all the dishes and utensils from last night and today to the kitchen to wash them, and then installed two solar panels on the balcony.

Jiang Li had observed this when he returned, and found that many households had installed them on their balconies, so it wouldn't seem out of place for him to install them as well.

Back in his room, Jiang Li planned to take a nap before going out to explore the base.

Jiang Li woke up around 3 or 4 o'clock. Actually, she had only slept for a little over an hour. She had eaten quite a lot and late at noon, so she wasn't hungry yet. Therefore, Jiang Li decided to go out for a walk and then come back for dinner.

The base has changed a lot in this life, and Jiang Li doesn't even know what it looks like now. He can take the opportunity to find out when he goes out.

Downstairs, I drove to the service center. The official supermarket and other shops are located near the service center, forming a commercial area.

The car was still parked in the parking lot. As evening approached, more people came to the base. There were no other entertainment options available, so people would come out for a stroll in the evenings when they had nothing else to do.

Jiang Li went to the base's official supermarket to see if they had any seeds or other seeds, and what varieties they were. He could buy some to grow himself. Growing things from the base and exchanging them for points or other things wouldn't arouse suspicion.
