Chapter Thirty-Seven Wild Boar

When Jiang Li woke up again, the charcoal in the stove was almost out, so he quickly added new smokeless charcoal.

The water froze last night, so the toilet water was definitely unusable. Jiang Li could only use the litter box. Although it was cold outside, Jiang Li still decided to take care of this important matter in the toilet, since it felt strange to do so in the room.

Jiang Li got dressed, put on his hat and mask, took a deep breath, opened the door and headed straight for the bathroom, but the moment he opened the door, a blast of cold air hit him, and Jiang Li shivered from the cold.

Three minutes later, Jiang Li came out of the bathroom and went straight to the room.

I used to stay inside and never felt it was warm enough, but now that I've experienced the cold outside, I realize how incredibly warm the room really is.

Once she felt less cold, Jiang Li took out her toiletries, brushed her teeth, and washed her face. She knew she had to use the toilet outside, but she decided to brush her teeth and wash her face in the room, otherwise the water might get cold halfway through.

Over the next few days, the temperature dropped by more than ten degrees each day: more than thirty degrees below zero on the first day, more than forty degrees below zero on the second day, more than fifty degrees below zero on the third day, and more than sixty degrees below zero on the fourth day.

Finally, it stopped at around minus sixty degrees Celsius and never fluctuated again.

The snowplows at the base start working every morning, and some people also bring out their own tools to shovel snow, since relying solely on machines is not enough.

Fortunately, the base had given advance warning, and most people had made preparations in advance, so supplies were sufficient for the time being.

The base supermarket also has coal available for purchase, which should be enough to cope with the cold in the short term.

However, with so many people at the base and the coal being constantly consumed, it's definitely not enough, so this can only be considered a temporary solution.

Some people even cut down the trees in the neighborhood to use as matches for heating, and none of these require points.

Once they got the first one, they went on to get the second, and soon the number of trees in the base visibly decreased.

Even so, people are still being carried out of each building every day, mostly to their deaths from the cold.

They were all discovered by neighbors or friends. There may have been some who were not discovered, but the base is so big that it is impossible to check each house one by one.

Jiang Li never went down. She already had supplies, so she didn't want to compete with the people below. When Jiang Li moved the supplies she had brought back, the people didn't know exactly what they were, only that there were quite a lot and that they could definitely last for a while.

That day, Jiang Li was watching a TV series in her room when she suddenly heard a commotion outside. She got up and looked out the window, only to see many people running in all directions.

Jiang Li was wondering what had happened. He remembered that nothing else seemed to happen in the extreme cold. Could it be that there was something else that Jiang Li didn't know about?

However, Jiang Li soon found out what had happened: wild boars were chasing the group, and there were many of them.

Jiang Li quickly got dressed, packed everything in the room into his spatial storage, and prepared to go downstairs.

That's practically food on the go! We can't let something delivered to our door go to waste.

But why are there so many wild boars in the base?

When Jiang Li got downstairs, those people were gone; they must have fled to another place.

After walking a while, I saw that many trees had been knocked down and many people were injured.

Captain Wang was leading his men, armed with guns, to hunt wild boars. However, the wild boars were large, numerous, and incredibly strong. They had to be careful not to get hit while hunting them, and Captain Wang's men alone were definitely not enough.

"One wild boar is worth 100 points. Anyone who catches one can come here to exchange it."

Everyone was excited when Captain Wang said that, because that was 100 points!

After Captain Wang's words, some people stopped running away and started thinking of ways to hunt wild boars. If one person couldn't do it, several people would work together.

This diverted a lot of the wild boars' attention, and Captain Wang and his team were under much less pressure.

Jiang Li took out his gun and joined the group. Wild boars have thick hides and tough flesh, so a knife wouldn't be effective for reckless charges.

With the snow and ice around, wild boars are definitely faster than humans. Luckily, the snowplows had already cleared the roads around the base, otherwise our movement would have been even more hampered.

He dodged while firing, and his aim was almost perfect; thankfully, he had trained recently.

While some wild boars were lying in the grass or in inconspicuous corners, they were secretly put into the space when no one was paying attention.

Jiang Li has no shortage of points, but wild boar meat is firm and, if the gamey smell is handled well, it can be very delicious. Jiang Li had eaten it a few times in his previous life, and he could never forget the taste.

Jiang Li ran into Gu Jin and his group at a corner; they were also catching wild boars.

"Jiang Li." Gu Jin was the first to see Jiang Li.

"Hey girl, over here... Damn it, why are all the wild boars chasing me?" Fang Qingxun shouted loudly at Jiang Li, attracting the attention of most of the wild boars around him.

Jiang Li...

He went up to them, gave them a brief greeting, and the wild boars approached again. Jiang Li didn't dare to hesitate and immediately ran to the side.

Gu Jin was no worse than Jiang Li, and the two quickly ran to a place with trees, which could also slow down the wild boar's advance.

Jiang Li and Gu Jin turned around at the same time, pulled the trigger towards the wild boar behind them, and two bullets flew out, one fast and one slow, hitting the wild boar in the forehead. Jiang Li was a step slower than Gu Jin, and his bullets missed vital organs.

The wild boar, running wildly, was hit and fell to the ground. It continued to rush forward for a distance before stopping, coming to a stop right in front of the two men.

When Gu Jin saw Jiang Li's shot, she knew Jiang Li had a gun, but she had never seen him actually use it. She was surprised to find that Jiang Li was quite skilled with a gun.
