For Jiang Li, the more guns the better.
"So you're planning to stay at the base long-term?"
"Unsurprisingly, in this situation, it's the same no matter where you go."
Where is my home now?
"Hey girl, come visit us sometime. We're in the courtyard two rows ahead of this building, the one furthest to the end."
"Okay, I'll go when I have time." Although Jiang Li might not actually go, she still agreed.
The group chatted for a while longer. Jiang Li told Gu Jin and the others about what he knew about the base, as well as the information about the temperature drop that the base had previously broadcast, so that they could make preparations.
As lunchtime approached, Gu Jin and the others said their goodbyes, as they certainly couldn't stay for lunch at Jiang Li's house with so many people.
After seeing Gu Jin and the others off and closing the door, Jiang Li opened the bag they had brought.
Rocket launchers, submachine guns, pistols, grenades, and a large bag of various types of ammunition—enough to last Jiang Li a long time.
Jiang Li was very satisfied with what he saw and put them all into his spatial storage. It seemed that saving people back then hadn't been in vain.
In the following days, Jiang Li did not go out except to have an air conditioner installed, and Gu Jin and the others did not come to look for her again.
Jiang Li obtained the air conditioner by exchanging food at the official supermarket. The base had previously broadcast it, and many people believed it, so they all went to buy air conditioners, and Jiang Li also bought one.
The price of air conditioners has already started to rise, and it is estimated that it will be even more expensive in the future. Fortunately, the air conditioners are sold by the official store, so the price increase is only small and not outrageous.
Every day after that, Jiang Li would exercise in the morning, take a nap in the afternoon, and watch TV series in his spare time.
Jiang Li stopped making food for the past two days and has been living a leisurely life. The only change is that it's getting colder every day than the day before, so many people have started to believe the previous broadcast.
There have been many people coming and going from the base these past few days, all looking for supplies. Of course, there are still some who don't believe it and think the weather is starting to return to normal, but that's only a small minority.
Jiang Li estimated it would be within the next few days, so he plugged all the small electric heaters, fan heaters, and space heaters into the sockets, and then they could all be turned on with a single press.
To prevent carbon dioxide poisoning, Jiang Li also dug a hole in the wall, just big enough for the stove's chimney to go outside, and then sealed it with tape. He could then simply put charcoal inside for warmth.
Jiang Li lit the charcoal first, then stored it in his spatial storage. When he took it out later, it was still lit, so he could simply put it into the furnace.
Everything is ready; we're just waiting for the extreme cold to arrive.
The day the extreme cold arrived was one night. The temperature suddenly dropped from over ten degrees Celsius to minus thirty degrees Celsius. Outside, large snowflakes fell heavily, and soon the ground and eaves were covered with a white layer.
Jiang Li had been paying close attention to the weather these past two days, so he didn't sleep very well at night. As soon as he sensed something was wrong, he woke up immediately.
The first thing I did when I woke up was to put on a few clothes, then turn on the light and find the remote to turn on the air conditioner that I had installed a few days ago.
He ran to the stove that had been prepared in advance and put the smokeless charcoal that was burning in the space into it.
I turned on the heater and the small electric heater next to me, and then took out a thermos from my storage space and drank a few sips of hot water to cool down.
I glanced outside and saw that everything was covered in snow.
Once she had recovered somewhat, Jiang Li changed the four-piece bedding set to a thicker one, added five or six mattresses to the bed, and also added an electric blanket.
Suddenly remembering something, Jiang Li put on two more layers of clothing, opened the door, and went to the third floor.
Jiang Li knocked quite hard, afraid that He Shan wouldn't hear him.
Just as Jiang Li was about to break down the door, it opened, and He Shan, dressed in thick clothes, came out to open it.
"Xiao Jiang, I knew it was you. It's okay, we're all awake, and we've already started a fire." He Shan knew that only Jiang Li would knock on the door at this time, but she was a little slow because she was starting a fire.
"Sister He Shan, I'm so glad you're all alright. I was just worried you might have fallen asleep."
"I didn't expect it to get so cold. Luckily, I listened to you and prepared some extra supplies."
Where is An'an?
“An’an is fine. I dressed him in a few more layers of clothes, and he’s asleep in bed now.”
"That's good. I'll head back now if Sister He Shan is alright."
"Okay, let's go back. It's so cold outside, let's go back quickly."
Back in the room, it was much warmer. Jiang Li took off his coat, grabbed a hot water bottle, turned on the electric blanket, and snuggled into bed.
With the arrival of extreme cold, many people are sleeping. Hopefully, no one will freeze to death in their sleep.
"Knock knock knock, Jiang Li, are you there? Are you awake?" Jiang Li heard someone knocking on the door. Who could it be at this hour? Why did she think she heard Gu Jin's voice? She quickly got dressed and ran out to open the door.
Upon opening the door, they found it was indeed Gu Jin. Because Jiang Li's door was electrified, he was wearing plastic gloves and holding a wooden stick, knocking on Jiang Li's door. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Jiang Li come out.
"It's snowing so heavily outside, why did you come?" Jiang Li noticed that his head and shoulders were covered in a thick layer of snow, probably because he hadn't had time to clean himself up in his haste.
"It's a good thing you're not asleep. If you hadn't opened the door, I might have had to tear it down."
Jiang Li tried to open the iron gate, but Gu Jin stopped her.
"Don't turn it on, I'll leave right away. Just make sure you're not asleep."
"You came all this way just because you were afraid I'd fall asleep?" Jiang Li looked at the man outside the door, and at that moment, she sensed something was different.
"Well, I was afraid you might be asleep and not know. Now that you're awake, everything's alright. You should go inside now; it's too cold outside. I'll be going now." Gu Jin finished speaking and was about to leave when Jiang Li called him back.
"Wait a moment."
Jiang Li immediately ran back to her room, and a moment later she ran out again, opened the iron gate, and handed the things in her hand to Gu Jin, whose face was already red from the cold.
"It's cold on the road, take these with you to keep warm."
It was a hot water bottle, a pair of gloves, and a fleece-lined hat. Gu Jin had come in a hurry and hadn't brought anything with her; the plastic gloves and wooden stick were given to her by Shi Lin.
"Okay, thank you." Gu Jin took the things and stared at Jiang Li intently.
Jiang Li blushed slightly under his gaze and dared not look Gu Jin in the eye.
"Let's go quickly, it's so cold outside, be careful on the road."
"Okay, I'm off then." Gu Jin put on the hat and gloves Jiang Li had given her, and left with the hot water bottle in her arms.
Jiang Li watched Gu Jin go down the stairs before closing the door and returning to her room.
Back in the room, looking out the window, I could see Gu Jin walking briskly through the snow, disappearing from sight in no time.
I went back to bed with the hot water bottle and fell asleep without realizing it. I slept very soundly that night, I don't know if it was because the bed was too warm or something else.
While Jiang Li was asleep, many people died in their sleep from the cold; some were unprepared, while others simply did not wake up.
