Chapter Twenty-Five: Granting the Request

When Gu Jin woke up again, it was already evening. She was woken up by the aroma of food and was hungry. It was already getting dark outside. A fire had been lit in the middle of the sofa. Jiang Li was standing at a table not far from the fire.

Seeing that Gu Jin had already gotten up, Jiang Li invited him to sit down. Then she poured the cooked noodles from the pot into a bowl on the side, cracked open a braised egg and added a sausage, placed it in front of Gu Jin, and then went to the other side to open the self-heating hot pot that had already been heated.

The hot pot smelled especially delicious. Jiang Li ate the spicy beef flavor, which contained lotus root, potatoes, beef, etc. It was especially tasty.

"This is spicy, you can't eat it because you're injured. I added a braised egg and ham sausage for you, it tastes pretty good too." Jiang Li explained to Gu Jin before they ate, afraid that Gu Jin would misunderstand.

"Okay, thank you." Gu Jin picked up the noodles and started eating. To be honest, they tasted really good, and Gu Jin finished eating in no time.

Jiang Li also enjoyed the meal. It was spicy and numbing, which was very satisfying, and it made her feel much better after eating.

"Where do you plan to go now that you're injured? Are you still looking for people?" Jiang Li was in a good mood, so she started chatting with Gu Jin.

"I plan to continue to Z City. My companions should be waiting for me there. If they still can't find me, I'll go to the H City base to check." Gu Jin still wanted to go to Z City; he had things to do.

Z City is on the other side of H City, exactly opposite to the base. To get to Z City, you do have to pass through H City, which explains why Gu Jin was there.

"Then your injury..." Jiang Li assumed he would go to the base to recuperate.

"Today was an accident. I ran into a tiger. My injury means I can't do much strenuous activity for a while, but I can still travel. Besides, I have a gun. Unless something like today happens, most people can't do anything to me." Gu Jin dodged in time and wasn't seriously injured. Besides, he's used to getting injured.

"What does the person you're looking for look like? If I run into them at the base, I can tell them where you are." Jiang Li didn't try to persuade him any further; everyone has their own plans.

“I’m looking for a pair of twins… and the other one is easy to spot, he has silver-white hair and is over 1.8 meters tall…” Gu Jin was interrupted by Jiang Li before she could finish speaking.

Jiang Li was just asking casually; what a coincidence that she would run into someone like that? But as Gu Jin described the person, she became more and more familiar with them, and couldn't help but doubt herself. Are there really so many people with silver-white hair?

"The person you're talking about probably has silver-white hair, looks somewhat mixed-race, and is a bit narcissistic..." Jiang Li said uncertainly.

"You've met Qingxun? Where were you when you met him? Were there any other people with you?" Gu Jin was surprised that Jiang Li had actually met him.

Well, even the names match up. Jiang Li really doesn't know what kind of luck he has to be able to run into someone like that.

“Just two days ago, in D City, I ran into him and he was all alone.” Jiang Li told Gu Jin everything she knew.

"It seems he was looking for me, but we missed each other."

Gu Jin paused for a moment and then spoke to Jiang Li.

"Jiang Li, although I know this is abrupt, could you please take me to the place where you met him? He probably left a mark on me, so I need to know where he was."

They have a specific code. Fang Qingxun must have left a mark. I can find him by following the mark he left. I quickly added, afraid that Jiang Li would disagree.

“I can pay you, I can give you a gun, you just need to take me back to where you met, and I can find him.”

"How much can you give me?" Jiang Li was indeed tempted. Although she had bought some before, it was only a small amount and they were consumables. If she could stock up on more, it would be a guarantee for her. She just didn't know how much Gu Jin could give her.

Upon hearing this, Gu Jin knew there was hope and quickly said, "Pistols, submachine guns, rocket launchers, and grenades are all available. You can choose for yourself within a certain range, but..."

Gu Jin suddenly felt embarrassed and went to say it.

"But what?"

"However, I can only give you these when I go to the base. I'm not with you now, but believe me, I..."

Gu Jin herself was almost speechless. If she didn't know better, anyone would feel that this was just making empty promises.

"Okay, I agree." Jiang Li thought about it and agreed. She trusted her instincts. After spending so much time together, Jiang Li believed that Gu Jin wouldn't lie to her. If she really was lied to, then she would only have wasted a few days, which wouldn't be a loss.

"Really? You agreed?" Gu Jin didn't expect Jiang Li to actually agree, and asked again uncertainly.

"Sure, but I can take you there. I'll only be there for 10 days. If you still haven't found him after 10 days, I'll leave too. But the payment will remain the same. If you agree, I'll take you."

Jiang Li estimated that the earthquakes were about to end, and their frequency was decreasing. It should only be a matter of one or two days. She needed to find a place to stay at the base before the extreme cold arrived.

"Okay, I agree." Gu Jin could accept this request. It wasn't far from here to D City, and besides, her injuries should have healed by ten days.

"It's getting late today. I'll find a car first tomorrow, and then we'll set off."

"Okay." Gu Jin was relieved to know that Jiang Li had agreed.

The two chatted about other topics for a while, and when the fire was almost burned out, Jiang Li added some more wood before they went to sleep.

Fortunately, Gu Jin's constitution was quite good, and the bandaging was done in time. She didn't get infected or develop a fever that night, otherwise it might have been a bit troublesome.

The next morning, Jiang Li and Gu Jin woke up early. Jiang Li cooked some porridge and Gu Jin ate it together before they went out to find a car.

Cars were everywhere on the street, some in good condition and others damaged by falling buildings. Jiang Li collected all the fuel from the nearby cars into his spatial storage. When he was almost done, he took out the Hummer from his space and put the motorcycle into his space.

He took out a small can of gasoline and put it in the car for future use.

Back in the office building, Gu Jin had already packed everything up. The two of them carried their things out, and as they were leaving, they saw someone coming out from around the corner across the street, probably looking for something to eat.

The people on the other side probably didn't expect anyone to be there, and they ran away as soon as they saw Jiang Li and the others.

Jiang Li didn't pay attention to any of that. She opened the car door and, together with Gu Jin, put the things in the back seat.

"This car is good, much more practical than ordinary cars." Gu Jin thought Jiang Li had just picked any car, but she didn't expect to find a Hummer.

"I was lucky to find it in a corner, and I filled it up with gas from a car parked on the side of the road." Of course, it's a great car. Jiang Li has had his eye on it for a long time, and it's perfect for this situation.

The two got into the car. Gu Jin was still injured, so it was Jiang's car that Jiang left in, and Gu Jin sat in the passenger seat.

Jiang Li arrived on a small donkey, and it took several days because he had to stop and go along the way.

Even though you have to take detours in some places, driving now is still faster than riding a donkey.
