Chapter 7: So fair and tender, like an art student studying dance
The government has cleared out all the alien creatures in the central area. If one or two appear occasionally, the military will quickly go there to deal with them.
For others, it's good news and a great sense of security.
But it is not entirely a good thing for Jiang Jie. He can't even find a mutant creature now. It is really boring to live in such a safe environment.
If you want to go to the outskirts, it's a bit far and you have to drive there. But if you run into a military patrol, you will definitely be questioned. It's hard to find a legitimate explanation for going to the outskirts at this time.
But now he had a good excuse.
Jiang Yi put his hands on the steering wheel and glanced out the window. When he saw a familiar figure walking out with a few young people, he stepped on the accelerator and the car slowly slid in front of them.
Several students didn't recognize the car parked in front of them. They thought it was a car picking up someone, so they subconsciously took a step back for fear of blocking the other person's way.
The window of the cab rolled down, revealing Jiang Jie's face. He turned his head and raised his chin, "Lin Mian, get in the car."
Before Lin Mian could react, his classmate bumped into his shoulder and said, "Lin Xiaotu, is this your friend?"
Lin Mian came back to his senses and said "ah" a little slowly, mumbling: "Yes, a friend of mine..."
"That's great! You have a friend who can drive a Land Rover." The student lowered his voice to avoid being heard and impolite, then said, "Okay, then you go ahead. We'll go find the teacher ourselves."
They were classmates in the same dormitory and major, and they came here in a car driven by a teacher from the department.
B University is located close to the central area, but strictly speaking it is not within the central area. The government took these students into consideration and cleaned up the surrounding area so that they can stay in school.
There is no other way for other schools further out in the city, so they can only follow the normal procedures.
Originally, the higher-ups had considered sending the supplies directly to B University and letting the students pick them up on campus, but they decided not to do so because they thought it would cause dissatisfaction among others.
What is worrying is not the lack of wealth but the inequality. Especially at this time when people are more agitated, it is likely to cause some unnecessary trouble.
After his classmates left, Lin Mian turned around, opened the car door and got in. The cool environment inside the car made him breathe a sigh of relief, and then he whispered "Mr. Jiang".
Jiang Jie nodded in response and said, "Fasten your seat belts."
The car drove out and Lin Mian turned around and fastened his seat belt.
Jiang Jie glanced at him sideways. Because of his fair skin, it would turn red easily when it was slightly hot. Not only his face and nose, but even the fingertips that were holding the seat belt were red.
He retracted his gaze and said, "There are wet wipes in the storage box in the front of the car."
"Okay, thank you." Lin Mian understood what he meant, reached out and opened the lid of the storage box, found the wet wipes, took them out, and took one to wipe the sweat on his face and neck.
Jiang Yan glanced at him as he wiped his face, folded the used wet tissue into a pile, and held it in his hand. It was obvious that he wanted to find a place to throw it away after getting off the bus. He didn't say anything, just raised his eyebrows and said, "Lin Xiaotu?"
Lin Mian had been sitting there obediently, not touching anything. He was just holding the supplies he had received with a bit of restraint. He was stunned for a moment when he heard his words. When he came to his senses, he immediately closed his eyes in a social deadpan manner and said awkwardly, "My classmate was just yelling nonsense..."
Seeing that he was indeed very uncomfortable about this, Jiang Jie rarely showed any kindness and stopped teasing him.
No one spoke and the car suddenly became quiet.
Lin Mian glanced sideways at the man driving the car. He had double lashes, slightly upturned eyes, and a high nose bridge, which made his profile look very superior. His lips were relatively thin, and from his angle, he could just see a mole under his right lip.
The arms holding the steering wheel are very strong. When he exerts force, you can see the bulging muscle lines, which is particularly manly.
He shifted his gaze to his own slender white arms, his mouth drooping, and he felt very envious.
No matter how many thoughts were in his head, he kept quiet. He was not good at speaking and was not very familiar with the other person. He didn't know how to start a conversation, so he simply kept silent to avoid disturbing the other person's driving.
Jiang Jie's senses were very sharp, and he could clearly feel the relatively covert gaze, including the subtle change in gaze.
The corners of his mouth curved up, and without exposing the obviously thin-skinned person, he just said, "Freshman?"
He had seen his student ID card and didn't find it strange that he knew this Lin Mian. He nodded and said, "Yeah, I'm going to be a sophomore after the summer vacation."
Who knew the world would suddenly become what it is now.
"I'm studying computer science." Jiang Jie thought about the information he saw on his student ID card. Not only were they alumni, they even had the same major.
"Yes," Lin Mian nodded again, then rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, "I'm not very good at dealing with people. Studying this major will make it good for me to become a technician who only works with computers in the future."
"Then you still need a pair of black-framed glasses and a plaid shirt." Jiang Jie rarely made a joke.
At the same time, I thought to myself, he is so fair and tender, and so beautiful. He doesn't look like an IT guy, but more like an art student studying dance.
Lin Mian was amused by his words and seemed to relax a little, "My classmate said the same thing."
When he smiled, his round almond-shaped eyes curved up, and his black pupils also had tiny glints of light, making him look much more lively.
Jiang Jie tapped the steering wheel lightly with his fingers and increased the speed of the car.
The car drove smoothly all the way to the gate of B. The place which was usually bustling with people now looked even more deserted in the night.
"Thank you for bringing me back, Mr. Jiang." Lin Mian unbuckled his seat belt and turned sideways to thank him. "Thank you for your help."
Jiang Yan turned to look at him, one hand on the steering wheel, "You're welcome."
Just by the way.
Lin Mian pursed his lips and nodded to him, "Then I'll go back. Be careful on the road."
Jiang Yan waved his hand casually at him and said, "Go ahead."
Lin Mian opened the car door and got out, but stood there for a moment without moving. After hesitating for a moment, he took out two packs of compressed biscuits from his supplies and placed them on the passenger seat. Then he bowed to the man and said, "Thank you so much."
Without waiting for Jiang Jie to say anything, he closed the car door and ran away.
Jiang Jie lowered his eyes, his gaze falling on the two packs of compressed biscuits quietly placed in the middle of the seats, and chuckled.
The car drove out again, but did not turn back to the central city, but continued to drive towards the outer areas.
The uncontrolled areas outside the city have almost become the world of alien creatures.
It looked unusual to see a car alone driving in this area.
There is no one here now. The weather is hot and electricity consumption is high. In order to save resources and reduce the load, all the power circuits outside the city have been cut off. Now it is pitch black.
Except for the range of Jiangjie's car lights, other places are dark, as if every piece of darkness is about to swallow it up. Any normal person would be scared in such an environment.
Unfortunately, Jiang Jie is not an ordinary person, and he is not at all moved by this.
Suddenly, his eyes flashed, and he slammed the steering wheel to the left. The car turned, and the rear end slid half a circle, making a harsh braking sound and leaving tire marks on the ground.
The thick snake's tail, which had been whipping down from the original position of the vehicle, missed the target and slowly curled up and retracted. In the dark alley next to it, the snake's head slid out, spitting out a bright red tongue.
Jiang Jie looked at the alien creature that appeared through the front window of the car. It was bright yellow all over and looked like a corn snake. This kind of snake is originally not aggressive and non-venomous. Because of its bright and beautiful appearance, it is usually kept as a pet.
But now its body has grown bigger, and its head is almost as big as a human head. Its body is thick and strong, and its scales are shining under the light of the car lights. They are not as smooth as in normal state. Some of them are bulging, looking ugly and sharp. If they hit a person, they can probably scrape off a layer of flesh.
It slowly coiled up into a large ball on the spot, with its head standing upright until it was as tall as a person. Its red eyes stared at its prey, and it spit out its tongue dangerously.
Jiang Jie opened the door and got out of the car, looking it up and down with the same eyes as if he were looking at prey.
As if feeling offended by him, the alien creature hissed suddenly and swam directly towards him.
In order to avoid his car being damaged by the snake and making it difficult to return, Jiang Jie quickly moved away from the car and led the snake to the other side.
Out of the range of the car lights, the snake's body was just a black outline in the night, but that did not prevent Jiang Jie, who had superior five senses, from seeing it clearly.
The snake's tail whipped out with great force and speed. If a normal person was hit by it, he would be half-dead if not dead.
Jiang Jie did not dodge. The water formed a barrier on his side. The snake's tail lashed up heavily, but it seemed like it was hitting something soft and elastic, and the force was completely dissipated.
Then the water current climbed up its tail, swam up, wrapped around a large section of it, and then froze into cold ice.
The alien creature roared, seemingly in pain, and lashed its snake tail down to the ground. The ice layer wrapped around it shattered, and the exposed part had some bloody holes left by the ice spikes.
It was completely enraged by the human in front of it, and opened its mouth wide to bite.
He didn't know if this mutant had eaten humans before. A fishy smell hit his face. Jiang Ji frowned and rolled to the right to avoid it. Then he formed a water whip in his hand and swung it hard, as if to avenge it for trying to hit him with its tail.
The mutant creature had thick skin and flesh. If it was hit by an ordinary whip, it wouldn't feel much. However, the water whip transformed by the superpower was different. With one whip, a large piece of scales on the snake's body was pulled off. In pain, it twisted its body and roared.
Jiang Jie did not let it go, and immediately swung out another whip. The seemingly soft water whip even made a sound of breaking through the air.
After being whipped twice in a row by this human, the alien creature felt pain and annoyance. When the whip came again, it simply faced it, opened its mouth and bit it, and pulled it towards itself with force, intending to throw the human in front of it away.
The power of an attacking psychic is much greater than that of an ordinary human, so Jiang Jie naturally would not let it succeed. He put force on his feet to stand firmly, and pulled in the opposite direction with his hands, creating a stalemate with the opponent.
A red light flashed in the mutant's eyes, and it bit the water whip even harder, while its snake tail lashed towards him.
It will launch a sneak attack. Jiang Jie, who noticed it, narrowed his eyes. When the snake's tail got close to him, the ice spike flew out and nailed it directly to the ground.
The alien creature opened its mouth and screamed in pain, and the water whip it was biting was released.
Jiang Jie used the force to do a somersault backwards and stood steadily on the ground. With a flick of his hand, a layer of flame attached to the original water whip. Water and fire intertwined, and a light lit up in the darkness, which was beautiful and dangerous.
The alien creature, whose tail was nailed to the ground, was still twisting when the whip came over. Not only did its scales fly off, but it also felt a burning pain, almost tearing its skin apart.
The body twisted more violently in pain, pulling the nailed snake's tail and causing more pain.
Jiang Jie didn't play with it anymore. He swung his whip and wrapped it around its body. The flames spread and burned the entire alien creature.
A flash of fire lit up in the dark night, reflecting on Jiang Ya's face.
Looking at the alien creature screaming and twisting in pain, the corners of his lips even curled up.
When the flames died out, only ashes remained on the ground. A hot wind blew past, and the ashes dispersed, revealing a transparent white crystal.
