Chapter 20 Zombies

Chapter 20 Zombies

The men were covered in a dark red liquid that had turned black and smelled foul.

Gu Qi raised his hand and gently knocked on the door: "Wanwan, open the door."

Gu Wan let go of Lu Nange's hand and ran quickly toward the door.

The door was pulled open a crack, and He Zhuo rushed inside.

Gu Wan: "Brother, what happened to He Zhuo?"

The only response she received was a violent vomiting sound coming from inside the room.

Gu Wan looked behind the group and saw that the ground was littered with dismembered bodies and blood flowing freely, almost submerging the ground.

Gu Qi blocked her eyes and pulled her around, saying, "Let's go back first."

The group entered the room, and then, as if all their strength had been drained, they leaned against the wall of the corridor outside the door.

Lu Xici couldn't help but swear: "Damn it, what the hell is all this stuff?"

Lu Nange: "Doesn't it feel like the end of the world?"

Her voice wasn't loud, but it was like a thunderclap that exploded in their hearts.

Everyone turned to look at her.

Lu Nange: "It's exactly like the post-apocalyptic dramas I've ever watched. You guys really haven't seen them?"

Chi Yanzhou frowned: "Once the water recedes, we'll head back to Beijing."

The others nodded in agreement. Everyone knew that every second of delay would make the journey back to Beijing even more difficult.

Lu Xici and the others took turns washing up.

An unknown fear spread around them. The room was deathly silent, so quiet that the ticking of the wall clock could be heard.

Everyone was lost in their own thoughts. Lu Nange snuggled up on the carpet with Lu Beiye, fiddling with Lego.

Chi Yanzhou stood by the window with binoculars in his hand.

He didn't put down his binoculars until everyone had finished washing up.

Chi Yanzhou: "Currently, it seems that only bites can transmit the virus. Those zombies appear to have lost their sense of pain."

Even with twisted and broken limbs, their torsos can still move uncontrollably, making them extremely aggressive. Their only weakness is their head.

Everyone present was intelligent, and the situation was clear, so Lu Nange chose to remain silent.

Ji Xian asked with concern, "Then how do we get back?"

Wen An's voice was still soft and sweet: "Can we leave today?"

Gu Qi: "Miss Wen, why don't you tell us how we should leave in this situation?"

Wen An: "We can just take a yacht, isn't that simple?"

Gu Qi: "The water surface is full of zombies, and besides, the rain has stopped and the water level has been dropping."

After hearing this, Wen An glared at Lu Nange in anger and embarrassment.

The more I looked at her, the angrier I got. She looked like a vixen at such a young age, and she was accusing me in a shrill voice.

"It's all their fault! If we hadn't come looking for them, we wouldn't be stuck in this godforsaken place and suffering like this!"

Lu Xici's previously calm face instantly darkened.

Lu Nange raised an eyebrow: "My brother and I don't know Miss Wen. Since Miss Wen doesn't like us, why don't you get out of my house now?"

Lu Beiye's eyes flashed with murderous intent: "If you glare at my sister again, I'll gouge your eyes out!"

Wen An trembled at Lu Beiye's gaze and quickly hid in Ji Xian's arms, pleading with a tearful voice, "Brother Xian, look at them, they're bullying us so much!"

He Zhuo had long disliked Wen An's attitude: "For Lao Ji's sake, I've tolerated you for a long time!..."

Ji Xian: "Old He, what do you mean?" His tone was full of anger and resentment at being offended.

Upon hearing this, Gu Wan immediately exploded like a firecracker: "What do you mean, Brother Ji Xian? I don't mean to be nosy, but Wen An is over twenty years old and still bullies Nan Nan and A Ye. Is that acceptable? Besides, your Miss Wen cries morning and night. It's the apocalypse, and she's still crying. If she could cry to the zombies and they would let her go, then I would cry along with them! It's so annoying."

Ji Xian's face turned extremely ugly after being rebuked by Gu Wan, his expression alternating between pale and red.

He gritted his teeth, held Wen An tightly in his arms, and suddenly stood up, looking as if he was about to fight someone.

Gu Qi quickly stepped in to smooth things over, raising his voice and shouting, "Alright, what time is it? Stop arguing!"

Chi Yanzhou: "Ji Xian, keep an eye on her!"

Ji Xian's rebuttal, which was about to burst out, suddenly caught in his throat.

He knew perfectly well what kind of status Chi Yanzhou held; he and Chi Yanzhou were not even in the same social class.

If it weren't for my good relationship with He Zhuo and Gu Qi, I wouldn't have had the chance to hang out with Chi Yanzhou.

When I was in Beijing, I could probably throw a tantrum and just leave.

But right now, there are zombies everywhere. If he wants to return to Beijing safely with Wen An, he can only follow Chi Yanzhou and the others for now.

After all, they were all trained martial artists.

Thinking of this, Ji Xian could only pat Wen An on the back and swallow all his pent-up frustration and dissatisfaction.

Wen An stopped crying and tugged at Ji Xian's sleeve. Even if she was stupid, she knew that going back to Beijing and being with Chi Yanzhou and the others was the safest thing to do.

Lu Nange glanced at Wen An, inwardly sighing: [This really is a female supporting character in a male-oriented novel. This kind of outrageous behavior is simply outrageous. Anyone with a brain wouldn't be so brainless...]

Seeing the silence in the room, Gu Qi spoke up: "What we need most right now is food and weapons."

Chi Yanzhou: "Yes, we need to go out and look for it before the water level goes down."

He Zhuo looked puzzled, scratched his head, and asked, "Brother Yan, why don't we just wait until the water level has completely receded before going out?"

Gu Qi: "We need to seize the initiative before others fully react. Once everyone starts taking action, resources will become even more scarce, and it will be much more difficult to obtain enough supplies."

He Zhuo patted his forehead: "Right, but how do we get out now?"

Lu Nange: "We have an inflatable boat at home."

He Zhuo's eyes lit up: "Nan Nan, you're really like a walking Doraemon."

Lu Xici explained, "I used to like to play around, so Nannan moved here."

He Zhuo: "By the way, where's our yacht? I've been looking for it with binoculars for ages and I still can't find it."

Chi Yanzhou: "Ci Ge and I hid it, but with the current water level, the yacht is no longer of any use."

He Zhuo couldn't help but tease, "Yan-ge, you're quite used to calling me 'Ci-ge, Ci-ge,' aren't you addicted to it?"

Chi Yanzhou glanced at He Zhuo sideways: "What, do you have a problem with that?"

He Zhuo quickly waved his hand, his face full of smiles: "No, no, how could I dare to have any objections? So when shall we set off?"

Chi Yanzhou glanced out the window: "Let's leave now. It'll be more dangerous after dark when visibility is reduced."

Lu Xici and Chi Yanzhou accompanied Lu Nange into the master bedroom and brought out the assault boat.

In the corridor.

Lu Xici patted Lu Nange and Lu Beiye's hair: "Nannan, take care of yourselves. Aye, take care of your sister."

Lu Beiye rolled her eyes at him—"Do you need to tell me!"

On the other side, Ji Xian gently stroked Wen An's cheek: "An'an, wait for me to come back."

Wen An hugged Ji Xian tightly, reluctant to part: "Brother Xian, please be careful. I'll wait for you to come back."
