Chapter 460 Miss Lu, I'm here!
Upon hearing Yu Wei's words, Wen Qing grasped the woman's waving hand in mid-air: "Don't be afraid, we will definitely get you out of here!"
Gu Wan also squatted down, looking the woman in the eye. She tried to smile, but only managed an expression that was worse than crying.
His voice was deliberately light and cheerful: "Yes, don't underestimate us. See... I'm a level five fire-type ability user. Although I'm the weakest in our team, those scum outside..."
She paused, then her tone hardened: "I can still kill them in a matter of minutes!"
Lu Nange did not squat down; instead, she leaned forward slightly and glanced at the woman.
“There are many women here who are suffering just like you. We need to hurry and get everyone out of here.”
We will repay you a hundredfold, a thousandfold, for everything that the rock has done to you!
Now tell me, are you going to stay here, or stand up and come with us to lead the others out?"
The woman stared blankly at Lu Nange, at the cold yet intense flame in her eyes.
The sounds of resistance in her throat gradually weakened.
Lu Nange immediately straightened up: "Sister Wenqing, Sister Yan, help her up. If she can walk, let her walk as much as possible. Let's hurry."
"clear!"
Wen Qing and Sang Yan immediately stepped forward, one on each side, and carefully helped the woman up.
The woman's eyes were still somewhat dazed, but her body had indeed regained its strength under the effect of the healing power. At least with support, she was able to stand and move unsteadily.
Lu Nange didn't linger any longer and turned to leave the room first.
The group was once again enveloped in the dim light and heavy shadows of the corridor.
The corridor was long and dark, with only pale light filtering in from the windows.
They searched each room one by one.
Behind every half-open door lies a microcosm of hell on earth.
Chained up, numb and curled up, unresponsive to any sound...
Lu Nange and her group grew increasingly grim, their chests feeling as if a stone was lodged in them, causing a dull ache, and their anger burned silently in the silence.
They simply cut the chains faster, offered water and clean clothes, and soothed them in a low voice as calmly as possible before leading those who could still move and whose eyes still held a glimmer of light into the corridor.
No one spoke. The rescued women spontaneously huddled close together with Lu Nange and the others, as if these rescuers who had suddenly appeared were the only light in this darkness.
At the end of the corridor, the staircase leading to the second floor came into view.
The concrete steps, the rusted and peeling handrails, and an even stronger, more nauseating smell of blood and decay pressed down from upstairs.
The second floor was indeed more devastating than the first floor.
There were splattered black bloodstains on the wall and drag marks on the floor.
The signs of imprisonment and abuse were more obvious than on the first floor, and the survivors were in worse condition; some were unconscious, while others were covered in wounds and on the verge of death.
The woman in the first room on the second floor, a girl who looked quite young, had Wen Qing's healing white light flowing over her body, treating some of her skin wounds.
Lu Nange was standing in the corner, taking out new clothes from her spatial storage.
The woman's eyes were initially utterly empty, but as she felt a long-lost comfort in her body, she slowly lowered her head, glanced at her clean clothes, then raised her head again, her gaze slowly sweeping over Wen Qing, Luo Xingyou, Gu Wan...
Her lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she only nodded very slightly, as if to express her gratitude.
However, the next second, something unexpected happened!
A terrifying resolve flashed across the woman's eyes. Her previously limp body suddenly burst forth with its last strength, and she broke free from Wen Qing's hand, which was still transmitting supernatural power. With her head down, she slammed hard against the solid wall beside her!
Luo Xingyou and Gu Wan remained highly vigilant, and upon seeing this, they almost instinctively pounced on it!
Luo Xingyou grabbed the woman's waist tightly from the side, while Gu Wan struggled to grab her arm. The two of them worked together to barely stop her. The huge inertia caused all three of them to stagger and crash into the wall with a dull thud.
The woman was subdued and stopped struggling. Instead, she slid down the wall to the ground, knelt on both knees, and began to kowtow repeatedly, her forehead hitting the cold cement floor with dull thuds.
A muffled sound came from her throat, and the pain contained in that sound instantly brought tears to Wen Qing's eyes.
Yu Wei's face turned deathly pale in an instant.
She turned to Lu Nange: "Miss Lu... she's begging us to kill her. She's begging us to give her a quick death..."
The room was deathly silent. Xie Linlin and her group, left in the corridor, felt as if an invisible hand was gripping their hearts.
Giving death to the desperate is sometimes the only mercy.
But they came to rescue people...
Lu Nange looked at the woman who kept kowtowing, her forehead covered in blood and flesh, and at the utter stillness in her eyes, devoid of even a glimmer of light.
The silence that lasted a few seconds was so heavy it was suffocating.
She closed her eyes very slowly, and when she opened them again, only a cold determination remained in her eyes.
She didn't say anything, but simply flipped her hand and took out a pistol with a silencer from her spatial storage, then walked towards the woman.
Yu Wei's lips trembled as she looked at the woman kowtowing, then at Lu Nange, her eyes filled with struggle.
"Miss Lu, could you... let me do it?" Yu Wei's voice was so soft it sounded like it was about to break.
Lu Nange glanced at her: "Do you know how to use it?"
Yu Wei nodded, and Lu Nange handed her the gun. She took the heavy gun, her fingers icy cold.
She walked up to the woman and squatted down.
The woman seemed to sense something, lifting her face, soaked with tears, blood, and sweat, from Luo Xingyou's embrace and looking at Yu Wei.
What's heartbreaking is that there was no fear in those eyes, only an almost devout...gratitude and relief.
Yu Wei's tears welled up.
She reached out her free hand and, with utmost gentleness, smoothed the woman's blood-stuck hair from her forehead, her voice choked with sobs, almost inaudible: "...Sleep...the pain will subside when you're asleep..."
The woman took Yu Wei's unarmed hand and wrote on Yu Wei's palm with her finger: "My name is Shi Ya, thank you!"
Yu Wei: "Shi Ya?"
Shi Ya nodded, and Yu Wei raised her hand holding the gun, the muzzle of which was firmly pressed against Shi Ya's temple.
"puff--"
A sound so faint it was like a sigh.
Shi Ya's body trembled violently, then collapsed completely.
The contorted pain on her face miraculously eased, and a faint, relieved smile even appeared at the corners of her mouth.
Yu Wei remained crouched, the gun slipping from her hand and falling to the ground with a clatter.
She bent down and gently hugged the still-warm body, her shoulders shaking violently, and she curled up into a silent sob.
After doing all this, Yu Wei felt as if all her strength had been drained away. She slid down the wall and sat on the ground, burying her face in her knees, letting out suppressed, broken sobs.
Lu Nange walked to her side, said nothing, but placed a hand heavily on her shoulder.
"Remember their faces, remember the helplessness of today, remember this pain. Then, transform all of this into the power to shatter the rock!"
She raised her head and swept her gaze across the grief-stricken yet resolute faces of each team member: "Now is not the time for sorrow. We need to hurry!"
