Chapter 65 Shop

Chapter 65 Shop

On the street, Lu Nange and her companions stepped directly into the first shop.

The two-story shop was filled with the sound of footsteps echoing through the walls.

Even the signboard is reduced to a few rusted screws stubbornly nailed to the lintel.

You can't tell at all what they did before!

Go up the stairs inside the store; the second floor appears to be a newly rebuilt small space.

A musty-smelling bathroom and a narrow passageway that requires you to squeeze through sideways.

The shop was filthy, so everyone left, turning their backs to the shop and forming two lines, warily watching their surroundings.

Gu Qi's fingertips glistened with water as a high-pressure water jet gushed across the dark ground and walls.

The murky water, carrying accumulated dust, surged toward the main entrance.

After Gu Qi finished cleaning the two floors.

Lu Nange's wind blades swept past, carrying dry air currents, and the watermarks instantly evaporated into white mist.

Once the last trace of moisture had dissipated, the group filed in.

"Whoosh—" The rusty roller shutter was yanked down hard.

After the curtains were nailed back on the windows, Lu Nange took out the tent and sleeping bag from her system backpack.

"The area isn't big enough, let's squeeze it in."

Chi Yanzhou stood by the window: "I'll go out and scout out the route out of the city tomorrow."

"There are roadblocks everywhere, we need to scout the area beforehand," Gu Qi agreed, while setting up the tent.

Lu Nange: "I'll go!"

He Zhuo, Lu Xici, and Lu Beiye all looked up at the same time: "I'm going too!"

He Zhuo let go of the tent in his hand: "Yan Ge, Mei Bao, who do you think should go!"

Chi Yanzhou looked at Lu Nange, who rubbed her temples: "Quzhou is a mixed bag, with many small, scattered groups."

We're completely out of the loop right now, so it's not a good idea for a group of us to go out together; it would be too conspicuous.

Sister Wanwan, Sister Wenqing, Brother Chi Yi, and Ji Xian stayed behind.

Big brother, shall we go out and take a look first?

"Gu Qi and He Zhuo, you two stay here too. It'll be more reassuring if any superhumans come!"

Gu Qi and the other person exchanged a glance and nodded silently.

Gu Wan and the others felt that Lu Nange's arrangement was the most suitable, and nodded in agreement.

Lu Beiye grabbed the hem of his sister's clothes like a stubborn koala.

Lu Nange looked down at him: "You're definitely with my sister."

Lu Beiye released his hand with satisfaction.

After leaving behind cooking utensils, food, and a walkie-talkie with the channel tuned, Lu Nange and her three companions quietly disappeared into the streets of Quzhou.

Not a single wandering zombie could be seen in the entire city.

Most of the shops around were wide open, and every few streets there were roadblocks lying haphazardly.

The four people walked out according to the signs, but almost every road leading out was blocked by layers of abandoned cars.

The survivors you occasionally encounter all resemble frightened weasels.

The two sides sized each other up from a safe distance, then retreated in unison.

The midday sun baked the cement ground until it was scorching hot, and in the distorted heat waves, the distant buildings looked like they were swaying in water.

Having determined their route out of the city, Lu Nange and the other three moved quickly along the shadows of the walls, making several turns as they made their way back along the street.

On the way, Lu Nange saw a nicely decorated place and immediately checked in through the system.

I plan to check the sign-in rewards when I get back.

Suddenly, a fierce exchange of fire broke out.

At the crossroads, two groups of people are fighting over food.

Amidst the bang of a bullet shattering a shop window.

Lu Nange and the others retreated to a dead corner in the alley.

Using her psychic abilities to spread outwards and confirming that no one was nearby, Lu Nange took out four cups of homemade iced milk tea.

Lu Beiye hugged Xiaotianshui and sucked on her mouth vigorously, her little feet swaying back and forth.

The four continued their advance only after the gunfire ceased.

Turning the corner, several corpses lay scattered on the roadside.

The skulls of each corpse were roughly pried open, exposing the cranial cavity.

Squeaking sounds came from all directions—rats swarmed in, drawn by the scent of blood, greedily gnawing at the remaining tissue.

...

"Aqi, Azhuo, open the door." Chi Yanzhou held the walkie-talkie and gently knocked on the roller shutter door.

"Splash—"

He Zhuo pulled up the roller shutter door.

"Are you alright? We heard gunfire."

"They're not after us." Lu Xici bent down and walked inside. "Two groups are fighting over food."

When the roller shutter door closes again.

Gu Qi and the others turned on their flashlights: "Have you found a way out?"

Chi Yanzhou screwed on the mineral water bottle: "Well, Quzhou City should have been occupied, and many small forces have scattered around it."

Every road leading out of the city was blocked, and there were also many roadblocks inside the city.

We can only walk out tomorrow and drive out of the city.

Let's get some rest tonight and leave tomorrow morning.

The weather is getting hotter and hotter, and even the cool indoor environment on the first floor has turned into a steam room.

Lu Nange wiped the sweat from her forehead and pulled out a small generator and several electric fans from her system backpack.

Chi Yanzhou and He Zhuo plugged in the power, and several fans immediately started whirring, stirring up the sweltering air.

Lu Nange then took out two more refrigerators.

He directed Gu Qi to fill the freezer with water—

Lu Nange wanted to take out the ice she had collected from her own supermarket.

However, the power system had long been paralyzed after the apocalypse broke out, and when Chi Yanzhou and the others were collecting supplies, there were no readily available blocks of ice!

It's a bit troublesome now, but the advantage is that there's no need to explain.

She glanced at Ji Xian out of the corner of her eye.

She was being petty and always felt that she and Ji Xian were incompatible according to their birth charts.

They couldn't wait for the water to freeze, so they poured the icy water directly into the iron bucket.

Gu Qi poured water back into the freezer compartment.

"call--"

Lu Nange released a stream of air from her palm, and a cool breeze carrying moisture swirled in the room.

The temperature inside the store finally began to drop slowly, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

In the evening, Wen Qing stir-fried a few refreshing side dishes and also made claypot rice with Chinese sausage.

The group ate until their bowls were cleaner than their faces before putting down their chopsticks.

"Hiccup—" He Zhuo patted his stomach contentedly.

After the meal, the group leaned back in their chairs and drank chilled hawthorn water to aid digestion.

While the boys were clearing away the dishes, the girls took turns going upstairs to wash them.

Chi Yi and He Zhuo kept watch during the first half of the night.

At three o'clock in the morning, Chi Yi and his companion were preparing to change shifts with Chi Yanzhou and Lu Xici.

The roller shutter twisted from all sides towards the center, making a piercing sound.

Lu Nange suddenly opened her eyes, and her mental abilities seeped outwards.

"Get up!" She flung open her sleeping bag. "Dozens of people, heavy weapons, get up!"

Everyone quickly took their positions behind the twisted roller shutter door.

“Zhuo-ge, A-Ye.”

He Zhuo slapped the ground with both hands, and the earthen wall rose up with a "boom".

Golden light flashed at Lu Beiye's fingertips, instantly reinforcing the metal barrier.

"They reacted pretty quickly." A voice came from outside the door, coming through a loudspeaker.

The static crackled with an arrogant, condescending tone: "Outsiders, listen up—Quzhou City now belongs to the Su family!"

"While I still have patience," the voice suddenly rose, "surrender and crawl out obediently!"

As Lu Xici watched Lu Nange collect the supplies, a flash of fire appeared, and he threw out a fireball that exploded from his palm.

Almost simultaneously, Chi Yanzhou's lightning cleaved through the night, illuminating the entire street.

"Heh... Earth, Metal, Fire, and Lightning?" The electronic voice, far from being flustered, instead carried a hint of mockery: "Wind and Water elements too? Not bad—"

The "click-clack" of heavy machine guns being chambered rang out in unison.

"Unfortunately, in Quzhou..." the voice suddenly turned cold: "Even if you're a tiger, you have to lie low; even if you're a dragon, you have to coil up! Our number of superhumans—"

A cold laugh rang out: "It's more than five times yours."
