Chapter 21 The floodwaters receded.
Chi Yanzhou and his group, armed with weapons, walked downstairs like cold-faced demons.
The murky water had receded to the second floor, and the debris floating on the water left mottled brown stains on the walls.
Chi Yi bent over and carefully checked the surrounding environment, fortunately finding no trace of zombies.
Everyone nimbly climbed out of the window.
The speedboat's engine roared to life, successfully attracting the attention of nearby survivors and zombies.
Lu Nange specifically brought out the electric assault boat because of its speed, which would allow her to quickly escape danger in critical moments.
Chi Yi was quite skilled, controlling the assault boat towards the office building that Lu Nange had circled on the map.
In just over ten minutes, several towering office buildings stood on the water.
Chi Yanzhou: "He Zhuo, smash it!"
He Zhuo gripped the baseball bat tightly with both hands, gritted his teeth, and mustered all his strength to smash it against the windowpane.
With a loud bang, the glass shattered.
The loud noise startled the zombies that were wandering aimlessly down the corridor.
They were instantly activated and rushed madly towards Chi Yanzhou and the others.
The zombie at the front had grayish-white eyes with its pupils shrunken to a point, making it exceptionally terrifying.
His body was covered in bite marks and his face was covered in blood.
Half of his lip was torn off, exposing his gums completely.
You can still vaguely see what looks like shredded meat between the teeth.
"Hehe."
Chi Yanzhou swung his Tang sword directly at the target.
With a sharp "crack," the zombie was cleanly cleaved in two, starting from its scalp.
He fell to the ground with a "thud".
The group was standing on the assault boat. Chi Yanzhou and Lu Xici held long knives, their movements agile, and with flashes of light, they continuously repelled the approaching zombies.
The severed zombies were forcefully slammed into the water by He Zhuo and his companions, splashing up murky water.
The group searched upwards along the floors, the third, fourth, and fifth floors. Due to the previous heavy rain and rising water levels, the water had just receded, leaving the ground in a mess.
Various supplies were scattered on the ground, soaking wet and swollen from being soaked in water, emitting a pungent, sour smell that was nauseating.
The ground was littered with soaked and rotten paper, damaged office supplies, and spoiled food; the scene was utterly disgusting.
The group quickly glanced at the items, without even bothering to bend down and pick up the damaged or water-soaked ones.
Up to the sixth floor, there was no trace of flooding.
After searching, they dealt with a lot of zombies and found three large bags of food.
However, most of the items found were snacks, instant noodles, and drinks found at workstations, in offices, and in the break room.
When they returned to the residential area, the weapons in the hands of Chi Yanzhou and his companions were still dripping with blood.
The commotion of the assault boat attracted the attention of the zombies in the water.
The zombies, their stiff bodies twisting and turning in the water, lunged at the assault boat with bared teeth and claws.
Chi Yanzhou and Lu Xici remained unfazed, cutting each other like vegetables with a single stroke.
The survivors in the building, hearing the noise, craned their necks to look out, and upon witnessing such a bloody and violent scene, quickly pulled their heads back in.
For a moment, zombie corpses floated on the water, their crimson blood staining the surface and mingling with the murky waves.
In a dark corner of the neighborhood, there was a man called Lao Shen who used to hang out with He Guang.
She was surrounded by four burly, hulking men.
They carried iron bars and daggers, their eyes revealing greed and ferocity.
One of the men kept his eyes fixed on the assault boat carrying Chi Yanzhou and his group.
He swallowed hard and whispered, "Brother Shen, their assault boats are probably full of food. Should we try to steal some?"
Old Shen reached out and grabbed the man by the neck, cursing viciously, "Are you blind? Can't you see they're all trained martial artists? If you want to go and die, I won't stop you!"
The man's face turned red from being strangled, and he quickly waved his hand to indicate that he dared not say anything more.
Chi Yanzhou and his six companions carried the supplies they found, along with the assault boat, into the building.
The zombies in the building had been cleared out by them before they left.
Hearing the noise, the neighbors quietly peeked out through their peepholes.
Seeing the large bags of supplies in the hands of the group, he was extremely envious.
Recalling the scene he had just witnessed by the window, the men were all blatant, living devils.
We can't afford to mess with them!!!
He could only suppress his desire and give up in secret.
On the sixteenth floor, a knocking sound and Lu Xici's voice rang out, and Wen An rushed out immediately.
Just as his hand was about to touch the doorknob, he suddenly froze and took a few steps back into the hallway.
Gu Wan, who followed along, rolled her eyes. Her mother tongue was speechless!
As soon as Gu Wan opened the door and Chi Yanzhou and the others stepped into the corridor, Wen An rushed into Ji Xian's arms.
Ji Xian looked at the bloodstains on his body and quickly took two steps back.
I can't be bothered to look at the others!

The next day, the sun shone brightly, but the shadows did not dissipate, and hunger and fear spread to every corner of the city.
The raging floodwaters have completely receded, leaving behind only devastation.
The roads were muddy, and the neighborhood was teeming with wandering zombies.
Many corpses lay scattered across the streets, gradually swelling under the scorching sun.
A putrid stench emanated from the corpse, filling the air, while flies buzzed around it.
Families running out of ammunition and food were a common sight. In order to survive, most people mustered their courage to face the monsters, step out of their homes, and search for supplies.
The exposed grain and supplies, soaked by the flood, were mostly rotten and emitted a nauseating sour smell.
Only the well-packaged food survived by sheer luck.
Or canned goods and drinks, but these supplies are just a drop in the ocean in the face of enormous demand.
With too many wolves and too little meat, the extreme scarcity of resources makes the conflict even more brutal.
Every city has become a battlefield where the strong prey on the weak, with bloody scenes of killing and being killed constantly unfolding.
Relatives, friends, strangers...
In the apocalypse, the dark side of people's hearts is magnified infinitely.
The only useful thing is the weapon in your hand; only the strongest fist has the right to speak.
In the living room on the sixteenth floor.
Chi Yanzhou leaned against the window, looking at the zombies wandering downstairs: "Today we'll find a car, and tomorrow we'll head back to Beijing."
Gu Qi stepped forward: "There are ten of us now, so we need to find three cars."
He Zhuo sighed, his tone tinged with frustration: "Given the current situation, is it even possible to find any cars? I'm afraid all of them have been submerged."
Lu Xici: "Perhaps we can try our luck in places that are relatively high up, such as around the mall or on the rooftop parking lot."
Chi Yanzhou tilted his head slightly: "Auto show, 4S store."
He Zhuo's eyes lit up, and he slapped his thigh excitedly, saying, "That's right, especially luxury car dealerships, which are usually upstairs. Maybe there will be some surprises there."
Gu Qi and Lu Xici walked to the table, spread out the map, picked up their pens, and circled several locations on the map.
