Chapter 34 Gu Wan
As night fell, as dark as ink, they chose a shop in the middle of the room.
After confirming several times that the brightness of the candlelight would not be perceived, I lit several candles one after another.
The flickering candlelight cast a few warm yellow streaks in the darkness.
Looking out the window, I could see shadowy figures of zombies moving about in the night on the street.
They were much more active than during the day, with roars echoing everywhere.
The group ate the self-heating rice in their hands.
"Luckily we separated them beforehand," He Zhu murmured softly, "otherwise, I really don't know if we'd still be breathing!"
Chi Yanzhou: "We'll take turns keeping watch tonight."
He Zhuo: "Brother Yan, am I in the first half of the night or the second half?"
"You, Aqi, and Chi Yi will be in charge of the first half of the night. One person will be in charge of the window, and the other two will be in charge of the main entrance and stairwell!"
He Zhuo: "I guarantee I'll complete the mission!"
Gu Qi: "So chuunibyou!"
"Ci-ge, Ji Xian, and I will be in charge of the second half of the night!"
Gu Qi: "Okay, I'll go talk to him!"
Lu Xici ruffled his sister's hair: "You and Miss Gu just need to rest. Your brothers can't rely on you for everything!"
The whole night was relatively calm.
As dawn broke, a few scattered zombies wandered slowly downstairs.
Yesterday's dramatic events seemed like a figment of everyone's imagination.
The door on the first floor stood quietly, and the iron rod that Lu Nange had placed yesterday was still stuck in the door handle.
Lu Nange pulled out the iron rod and handed it to Gu Wan.
Chi Yi pressed his face against the door, listened intently, and then nodded slightly to Chi Yanzhou to indicate that it was safe.
The RV in front of the door was still blocking the way perfectly.
With a "squeak," the sound of metal rubbing together was particularly jarring.
As soon as the side door of the car was opened, a mouth full of pus and blood, baring black and yellow teeth, rushed out.
Chi Yi's pupils contracted sharply, almost instinctively, and he thrust out the knife in his hand, plunging it into the zombie's head.
The zombie's body went limp instantly.
No matter how fast Chi Yi is, he can't outrun Wen An's mouth.
A scream burst uncontrollably from her throat.
Ji Xianxin tensed up and reflexively reached out to cover Wen An's mouth.
Although Ji Xian's action of covering his mouth had become increasingly skillful, the sharp scream still escaped for two seconds.
Everyone could clearly feel rustling sounds coming from all directions, slowly moving towards the RV.
Ji Xian looked at the reproachful looks from He Zhuo and Gu Wan and couldn't help but complain in his heart: Dead Hand, can't you be any faster?
Before they could even feel regret, Chi Yi and Chi Yanzhou quickly got into the RV.
The car was filled with a putrid stench. Besides the freshly dead zombie, another zombie had jumped out from the driver's seat.
Chi Yanzhou thrust his Tang sword forward, and the zombie fell heavily to the ground, motionless.
After dealing with the zombies in the car, Chi Yi crouched down and approached the center console.
The driver's side window was shattered, and looking out from the center console, there were quite a few zombies wandering around on the first floor.
Chi Yanzhou and Chi Yi exchanged a glance.
Just as Lu Xici threw the zombie on the ground, he saw Chi Yanzhou carrying another one as he stepped out of the car.
As soon as the side door closed, Chi Yi stepped on the gas and sped off, the front of the car crashing straight into the zombie in front of him with a dull thud.
Once the car was moved, Lu Nange and the others' view became clear.
A thick, putrid stench assaulted their senses. Gripping their weapons, the group charged without hesitation toward the surging zombies outside the door.
Chi Yanzhou kicked the zombie in front of him away, sending it flying and knocking down several other zombies behind it.
Lu Nange pulled Lu Beiye along, using the "power pill" to its fullest extent, creating a lightning-fast, sparking explosion.
One stun baton, one zombie; their heads exploded, blood splattering everywhere. Lu Beiye continued throwing small darts at his sister's side.
Lu Xici and Chi Yanzhou were not far from the two, each taking down their opponents with a swift and clean strike!
To their side and rear, Gu Qi and He Zhuo were being harassed by several zombies, and the two were desperately trying to defend themselves.
Protecting Gu Wan behind him, in the blink of an eye, a small zombie roared and pounced on Gu Wan.
"Wanwan!" Gu Qi was extremely anxious, his voice trembling slightly.
"Gu Wan!" He Zhuo shouted, veins bulging on his forehead.
Gu Wan gripped the iron rod in her hand, gritted her teeth, closed her eyes, and smashed it against the zombie with all her might.
Following his sister's instructions, Lu Beiye threw the golden dart directly at her.
As the zombie fell to the ground, Gu Wan exclaimed excitedly, "Come on, I'm incredibly strong right now!"
Lu Beiye...
Ji Xian held Wen An tightly in his arms, but Wen An ignored him and burrowed into Ji Xian's embrace, screaming incessantly.
Ji Xian was distracted by her shout and only cared about the zombies in front of them, not noticing that two zombies were baring their teeth and claws and rushing towards them from behind.
In the midst of the chaos, Wen An caught a glimpse of this scene out of the corner of his eye and instinctively pushed Ji Xian, who was in front of him, away.
Ji Xian was caught off guard by Wen An's push, stumbled, and fell to the ground.
It roared and pressed forward relentlessly, the stench of decay assaulting our senses.
Ji Xian stood there, stunned, his mind blank. He Zhuo rushed over and slammed a baseball bat into the zombie next to Ji Xian.
The zombie's head was smashed to the side, and blood splattered all over Ji Xian's face.
"Ji Xian, what's wrong?" He Zhuo called out to Ji Xian while panting heavily, and at the same time reached out and grabbed Ji Xian's arm.
Ji Xian then came to his senses and quickly got up with the help of He Zhuo.
"Thanks!" He wiped the blood off his face and glanced at Wen An.
A mocking smile played on her lips, and she truly didn't turn her head back!
Seeing that he was alright, He Zhuo turned around and swung his baseball bat.
He walked towards Gu Wan, cursing viciously, "You bastards, die!"
At this moment, Gu Wan had just killed another zombie and was loudly taunting the zombie horde: "You bastards, come on, try again!"
Lu Beiye...
Wen An cowered, not even glancing at Ji Xian, and took advantage of the chaos to quickly hide behind Gu Qi and Gu Wan, who were closest to her.
The Gu siblings ignored her.
Wen An stopped screaming and hid, but her eyes kept sneaking glances at Ji Xian, who was fighting desperately among the zombies.
When she came to her senses, she saw several zombies rushing towards her from the side.
He reached out and shoved Gu Wan, who was in front of him, hard towards the zombie.
He shouted in his heart with great satisfaction, "Tomboy, die!"
"Wen An, I'll fuck your grandpa!" Gu Wan never expected Wen An to suddenly pull such a move from behind. Her body lunged forward uncontrollably, and she blurted out an angry curse.
Gu Qi grabbed his younger sister's wrist.
With a right side kick, he sent Wen An flying.
Gu Qi...it's really not my fault, it's just that my foot had its own ideas!
"Help!"
"Brother Xian, save me!"
"Help me!!!"
With a sharp scream, Wen An fell to the ground and, before he could fight back, was devoured by a swarm of zombies.
Its teeth were tearing at her flesh frantically, and dark red blood gushed out, spreading rapidly across the ground.
Stimulated by the strong stench of blood, the remaining zombies roared and charged forward.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, the group brandished their weapons and dealt with the remaining zombies.
Wen An's body was in a terrible state; his internal organs had been torn out, and several large holes had been gnawed into the flesh of his legs.
Before anyone could even sigh, the crowd was stunned.
Wen An, who had already closed her eyes, slowly opened them again as her eyelids trembled.
But at this moment, there was no life in his eyes.
Its eyes were grayish-white, and it made a "hoho" sound from its mouth.
The flesh on its legs had been almost completely eaten away, exposing the stark white bones, making it impossible for it to stand.
But she twisted her broken body and slowly crawled toward the crowd.
