Chapter 37 Superpowers
Thick, black rain poured down, raging all night long.
The next day, however, was still a sunny day.
The blazing sunlight pierced through the clouds, causing the damp ground to emit distorted waves of heat.
The temperature was rising at an alarming rate. Lu Nange measured the outdoor temperature, and the thermometer was already pointing to 48℃.
On the sofa, Chi Yanzhou's body temperature was still frighteningly high.
"We can't delay any longer," Chi Yi said hoarsely, "Young Master's temperature is already 40 degrees Celsius; we must see a doctor."
Gu Qi looked at the map, gesturing back and forth between Nanshi and the city ahead: "We're farther from the next city than we are from Nanshi. Should we retreat to Nanshi?"

As the sun set, a ray of orange-red light shone through the car window onto Chi Yanzhou's pale face.

He lowered his eyes and remained silent for a moment before suddenly speaking: "My body... seems to be a little different."
The group paused, and Lu Xici frowned slightly: "What's different?"
Chi Yanzhou did not answer immediately, but instead looked down at his palm.

He suddenly clenched his fingers, and the instant his knuckles tensed—"Crack!"
A silvery-white arc of electricity exploded, coiling around his fist and flickering inside the carriage.
The electric current hissed, and a faint smell of burning filled the air.
He Zhuo and Gu Qi's eyes widened suddenly, and they both leaned back, exclaiming in unison, "Holy crap, what the hell is this?!"
Lu Nange: "It's like the kind of superpowers you read in post-apocalyptic novels!"
Everyone turned to look at her, their expressions varying: "...?"
Ignoring their shock, Lu Nange asked Chi Yanzhou directly, "Want to get out of the car and try it out?"
Chi Yanzhou felt that unfamiliar energy surging through his veins, almost bursting through his skin.
Pushing open the car door, the air was still thick with suffocating heat.
Chi Yanzhou opened his palm, and silvery-white arcs of electricity danced at his fingertips, emitting a faint "buzzing" sound.
He flicked his wrist and swung it forward with a sudden "Boom!"
A blinding flash of lightning struck the large tree outside the red-painted door.
The tree trunk snapped in half under the blinding light, its charred surface emitting wisps of smoke, with residual electrical currents still flickering and flowing through the wood grain.
Lu Nange leaned against the shadows of the car: "Lightning-type superpowers, in novels and TV shows, these kinds of superpowers are all top-tier in terms of offensive capabilities."
He Zhuo whistled and grinned, "Brother Yan, you're awesome! That's incredibly cool!"
Gu Qi: "It seems we have another layer of protection!"

Chi Yanzhou's awakening was like a shot in the arm, finally bringing some life back to the team that had been listless all day.
After a day of eating bread, everyone decided to have cola with self-heating rice for dinner.
Little Lu Beiye can't drink iced cola, so he can only sip milk from a milk carton, leaving milk stains around his mouth.

Lu Nange led Lu Beiye and pulled Lu Xici to the other end of the unloading area.

Lu Nange: "Gu Qi looked at the map today and said that at our current speed, we're about two days' journey to the next city."
