Chapter 41 You're so ugly

Chapter 41 You're so ugly

With electric sparks flashing on Jiang Xun's fingertips, he walked towards the house step by step. Jiang Mi provided cover with a gun at the door.

Until Jiang Xun's figure was completely immersed in darkness, there was still no movement on the bed.

The electric arc shot out and landed on the bed. The old bedding was blown away, revealing a curled up, dry and black corpse. The whole body was in a shriveled state, as if it had been dried by the wind. At the same time, a strong stench instantly spread.

Even with the filter on, the smell of corruption still penetrated into his nose. Jiang Mi couldn't help but frown and took two steps back.

Jiang Xun looked around the small house, and when he found nothing unusual, he quickly walked out of the house. After breathing in the fresh air outside, he looked visibly relaxed.

"There's something wrong with the corpse." Jiang Xun frowned slightly in thought.

"A typhoon landed in late September and a tsunami hit in early October, but P City was not affected by either disaster. Snow fell in early November and the temperature dropped rapidly. This man clearly died before the temperature dropped. His flesh and blood disappeared, leaving only skin covering his bones. He showed no signs of struggling before he died."

"There was a small fish tank next to the bed. The fish tank had been broken. There were two dried fish on the ground. There were signs that the house had been searched, but nothing else was found."

Jiang Mi secretly licked his teeth, analyzing the scene described by Jiang Xun in his mind. After pondering for a long time, he whispered: "Maybe he was killed by some mutant creature, but the strange thing is that even if he is weak, the human body's instinctive protection mechanism will subconsciously struggle."

"So, this person was probably killed while completely defenseless and drained of blood and flesh."

Jiang Xun frowned, "It's a pity that there are no more clues on the body."

"Let's go to other houses and maybe we can find some useful information." Jiang Mi had some guesses in his mind, but there were too many deformed animals that would devour human flesh and blood after the end of the world, including various plants.

The two left one house and went to the next one.

After searching three houses in a row, they were all empty. Apart from the mess in the house, no useful clues were found.

Until the seventh house, there was a corpse struggling to crawl out lying at the wide open door. Just like the corpse seen in the first house, the blood and flesh had been sucked out of the body, leaving only a layer of human skin. The fear before death could be vaguely seen on the face. The skinny right hand was trying to stretch forward, and there were signs of broken bones in the left arm.

Jiang Mi squatted down and looked carefully, and found that there were obvious signs of strangulation on the waist of the corpse, and the lumbar vertebrae were dislocated, as if it was caused by being tied up with something like a rope.

"Maybe it's a mutated plant." Jiang Mi whispered.

The deformation of species is bizarre and strange. Even though she has survived in the apocalypse for three years, she still can't guarantee that she knows all the deformed species. She can only roughly judge what type they are.

"The range of the plants is too wide." Jiang Xun walked out of the house. "All the supplies in the house have been looted, but this family has a basement. In the basement, there is a female corpse chained up. She died of natural causes and has already rotted away."

"Chained?" Jiang Mi raised his voice slightly, and cast a cold gaze on the mummy. "It seems that this guy was not a good person when he was alive."

"In that case..."

Just as she was about to lift her leg, Jiang Xun handed her a wooden stick and said calmly, "Don't dirty your shoes."

Jiang Mi nodded, took the wooden stick and swung it at the mummy's head like a golf club, watching the pitch-black head fly away.

Throwing away the stick in his hand and clapping his hands, Jiang Mi curled his lips and said, "Let's go to the next one."

After all the seventy households in the village had been searched, nothing else was found except three more bodies that had been drained.

After working for two hours without any results, the two men cleaned up a cleaner house and took a rest. An hour had passed since lunch time and Jiang Mi was already very hungry.

Although I really wanted to have a spicy hotpot in such a cold day, the environment of the place where I stayed was not very good, and there was also an unstable factor in the village. In the end, I just ate three meat pies and rested on a recliner with a cup of hot milk tea.

"Let's go straight into the city." Jiang Mi said incoherently while chewing a mouthful of pearls, squinting his eyes in satisfaction.

Anyway, the mutants in this village have little to do with them, so there is no need to waste time here.

Jiang Xun naturally had no objection. He responded calmly and began to condense a fist-sized thunder ball in his palm to practice his control.

After resting for an hour, the two men parked the helicopter in a relatively secluded place and headed towards the city. They had no intention of hiding their whereabouts along the way and walked directly on the road openly.

Although it is tiring and a waste of time to take bus 11, there is no other way. A first-tier city like P City before the apocalypse not only has a large population but also a large number of vehicles. After the apocalypse, the traffic is completely paralyzed, and abandoned vehicles can be seen everywhere in the streets, lying in the middle of the road.

The four-wheeled one cannot be driven, and the two-wheeled one has to be dismounted after riding for a while and carried over the roadblocks. Jiang Mi thought it was too troublesome so he simply didn't use them.

The village they settled in was the outermost part of the entire P city. After walking for more than two hours, the two entered the urban village.

The snow on the ground along the way is no longer smooth, and traces of trampling can be seen from time to time. Although there are not many, it means that there must be survivors here.

Perhaps because it was broad daylight, the two did not encounter any mutants. Although they saw quite a few corpses, they were all dead. After all, only some broken limbs were left. No matter how deformed they were, it was impossible for them to move again.

Jiang Mi's gaze fell on a dark little shop on the street. The visible parts of the shop were messy, but in the deep invisible darkness, there seemed to be something shaking.

Jiang Xun followed her gaze, stared at it for a moment, and then whispered, "It's a deformed human, not a survivor."

His eyesight was very good now, so he could clearly see the figure swaying in the darkness. Its body had been severely deformed. Its arms were as thin and long as folding sticks, its body was shriveled, its skin had large areas of ulceration, one eyeball was missing, and the other one was protruding from the eye socket, relying on the black blood vessels and nerves to move on its face. Its sparse hair was stuck to the exposed scalp, and there was a kitchen knife embedded in its cheek. Half of its face was covered with purple-black blood, and its teeth, which should have been flat, had become uneven and extremely sharp, with rotten flesh hanging on them.

Just one glance and Jiang Xun couldn't help feeling a little nauseous. He looked away, closed his eyes and tried hard to clear the image from his mind.

Jiang Mi couldn't help but grin when she saw his reaction, "Is it ugly to you?"

Jiang Xun remained silent, but his expression clearly showed his agreement.
