"Brother, don't rush off! Xiuxiu wants to stay a little longer!"
Xiuxiu looked at the raging fire and seemed to have taken a liking to it.
"Sister, if you want to see it, your little brother will spray it on you every day, okay?"
Red Boy also came over.
"Yes, yes, my little brother is the best!"
"Alright, don't you two know that the weather is dry and you should be careful of fire? You still have to spray it every day!"
Ye Lei dared not let Red Boy breathe fire every day. Back then, it was Red Boy who burned down the children's room in the villa, and the goddesses went to great lengths to restore it to its original state.
Now that we've arrived at the Ten Thousand Mountains, everywhere we see trees and wild grasses dried and yellowed by the scorching sun. If a fire breaks out, it could easily get out of control and even burn down the shelter.
"Dad, I know, you said we shouldn't breathe fire randomly, but my sister likes it, so what can I do?"
Red Boy seemed to be in a difficult position.
"Since Xiuxiu likes to watch, let's watch it here, okay?"
Ye Lei thought that since the Zheng family wouldn't be going to the shelter anytime soon, he might as well relax. However, it was quite rare to relax while watching a fire.
As he thought to himself, the corners of his mouth involuntarily turned up slightly, revealing a faint smile.
"Okay, thank you, brother."
Xiuxiu's voice was clear and sweet, and she seemed very happy to be able to watch the fire with everyone.
Xiuxiu sat seriously on the stone bench at the entrance of the manor, and Honghaier ran over as well. The two sisters sat together, pointing and gesturing, looking very close.
Their figures, illuminated by the firelight, appeared exceptionally warm, as if the world consisted only of the two of them. Ye Lei quietly watched the scene before him, a strange sense of emotion welling up within him.
Since the apocalypse, he had witnessed too much bloodshed and cruelty, and rarely had such a heartwarming scene appeared. Apart from occasionally seeing goddesses being intimate with their families, this was the first time he had seen zombie-like humans and human-like zombies living together so harmoniously.
Perhaps humans and zombies really can coexist peacefully! Ye Lei thought silently, a glimmer of hope in his eyes. He knew this idea might be naive, but at this moment, he was willing to believe it was true, because in this world full of despair, any glimmer of hope was precious.
The fire burned for more than half an hour before gradually subsiding. During this time, no survivors or zombies were seen approaching. Perhaps the place was completely abandoned and deserted, or perhaps the survivors chose not to get involved and simply enjoyed the fire from their own homes.
"Brother Lei, do you think this fire might burn something out?"
Soo-yeon suddenly said.
"What will come out when it's burned? Could it possibly turn into a golden Buddha statue?"
Ye Lei said with a smile.
"That's hard to say. The Zheng family is so wealthy, it's quite normal for them to hide a golden Buddha in their villa!"
Xiuyan actually believed it.
"Do you think golden Buddha statues are all made of mud? They're worthless."
"Haha...it was just a guess!"
Xiuyan was a little embarrassed by what she said.
"No, Brother Lei, look, there really seems to be something shining in that firelight!"
Tang Xiaoting pointed to the firelight in the distance and said.
Where is it?
Tang Xiaoting's words immediately piqued Ye Lei's interest: Could there really be a golden Buddha?
"Look, over there, come a little over here."
Tang Xiaoting called them over, apparently because of the angle; the sunlight wasn't reflecting off them from where they were standing.
"It really is! Brother Lei, look, it really is shining!"
Soo-yeon shouted loudly after seeing it.
"Come on, isn't that just light reflecting off the glass?"
Ye Lei said dismissively.
"Wait, with such a big fire, the glass should be blackened, so how could it be reflecting light?"
Tang Xiaoting explained from her professional perspective.
"You seem to be right, so what could it be?"
Ye Lei thought about it and realized that was indeed the case!
"Why don't we go take a look now?"
Xiuyan was already impatient.
"How are we going to get across? The fire is still so big, are you indestructible?"
Ye Lei said jokingly.
"That's right, the fire has been burning for so long, where are the firefighters?"
Xiuyan looked innocently at the entrance of the manor.
"Are you stupid? It's been so long since the apocalypse, where are there still firefighters?"
Ye Lei pressed Xiuyan's forehead with his finger, wondering if she had lost her mind.
"Oh right, I forgot. If there were firefighters, there would be police. We would have been arrested as arsonists long ago."
Soo-yeon finally realized what was happening.
"Hmm... let me think of something!"
Ye Lei stared at the glittering bright spots in the firelight, his heart filled with curiosity. Waiting for the fire to extinguish itself might take a long time, but he was eager to find out the truth.
After some thought, he decided to try using his superpower—the Frost Sword—to see if he could speed up the fire extinguishing process. He knew that the Frost Sword's effect might be limited compared to water, but in any case, it should have some use.
Ye Lei closed his eyes, concentrated his mind, and activated the power of the Frost Sword. Instantly, countless ice swords shot out from the billowing smoke and rushed straight towards the raging sea of fire. However, due to the high temperature of the flames, these ice swords quickly melted into water and steam before they even came into contact with the flames.
Although the effect was not as significant as expected, the height of the flames was noticeably reduced, indicating that his efforts were not in vain. As long as he continued to use the Frost Sword, the fire would eventually be extinguished.
