Chapter 1: Rebirth means escaping from famine

"Yiyi, wake up!" Who was calling? The vague voice came from far away, accompanied by the crazy shaking of the body. Yun Yiyi felt as if her head was about to explode. How could her body be moving? Didn't she die with a group of high-level zombies in order to save a healing teammate in the team? She had led the team to a pre-apocalyptic scientific research base to search for a medicine that could cure the zombie virus. The healing system of the apocalypse can only treat some of the zombie virus, but cannot completely eradicate it.

During the search, the healing teammate discovered a healing solution with a formula in a safe. Just as he was about to take it away, he was ambushed by a high-level zombie. Encountering just one high-level zombie wouldn't be a big deal, but what was surprising was that they were a well-organized, premeditated group of high-level zombies. Ultimately, to protect her teammates and bring the healing solution back for scientists to study, Yun Yiyi chose to self-destruct along with the group of high-level zombies. She never expected to die like this; it was so frustrating. It was a complete accident, a result of carelessness.

Yun Yiyi endured the pain in her body and struggled to open her eyes. She saw three half-grown boys surrounding her, anxiously calling out to her. Yun Yiyi was stunned for a moment. She raised her arm and saw a small, chubby, black hand. This wasn't her hand. Had she traveled through time? Yun Yiyi felt a sharp pain in her head, and she fainted again.

When she opened her eyes again, she saw plain curtains. Beside the bed stood a small dressing table with a mirror embedded in it. She stood up and walked to the mirror. Inside was a plump, dark-skinned girl, about six years old, with big eyes and two dimples when she smiled. She was clearly a cheerful and lively girl. At that moment, a pain shot through her head, and she fell to her knees. After a few minutes, she realized she had the memory of this body.

The little girl is six years old this year, and her name is Yun Yiyi, which is the same name as her. This is probably fate. The little girl's father is Yun the Butcher, who was born with supernatural powers. He married Zhang, the eldest daughter of the village chief of the next door village. When Zhang was young, she was a famous village beauty. She was very beautiful and had a cheerful personality, which made her very popular among the boys in the neighborhood. Once, Zhang went to the town to buy needles and thread and was molested by a thug. Yun the Butcher happened to pass by and he rushed forward to beat the thug away. After this incident, Zhang secretly fell in love with Yun the Butcher. The two of them had more contact later, and Yun the Butcher also fell in love with Zhang.

A year later, Yun the Butcher married Zhang. They had three sons and one daughter: Yunye, the eldest; Yunhe, the second; and Yunhu, the third. Yun Yiyi, the youngest and a daughter, was inevitably the most favored. Yunye, the eldest, was honest and simple, thirteen years old. Yunhe, the second, and Yunhu, the third, were twins, ten years old. Yunhe, the second, was steady and intelligent, while Yunhu, the third, was mischievous, playing tricks wherever he went. However, the three brothers were deeply devoted to their only sister.

The original owner was injured this time because his three brothers took him to the mountains to look for spring water. Under a hidden stone, they found a small puddle formed by water dripping from the rock, which was estimated to be able to hold two buckets of water. The eldest brother Yun and the second brother Yun took the water home and arranged for Yun San to watch his sister on the mountain. Yun San was a person who could not sit still. He took the original owner to catch rabbits and came across a pear tree. Because it was far away in the mountains, there were still some small pears on the tree. Yun San climbed up the tree to pick pears and asked Yun Yiyi to pick pears under the tree. Who would have thought that Yun Yiyi, who had been running around with her brothers for the past two years, was also a naughty child.

While her brother was out of sight, she secretly climbed up the tree. Unaware, she stepped on a dead branch and fell to the ground, hitting her head on a rock beneath the tree. Little Yiyi's head hit her, causing her to bleed excessively and she passed away. Unexpectedly, she traveled back in time and became Yun Yiyi.

Before the apocalypse, Yun Yiyi was an orphan. She struggled to finish college and find a stable job. However, her good job didn't last long before the apocalypse struck. Yun Yiyi's luck was truly terrible. Fortunately, at the beginning of the apocalypse, she awakened to a spatial dimension. Within the spatial dimension was a mere two acres of land. Nearby, there was a well, which supplied ordinary well water. Although the spatial dimension lacked spiritual springs, elixirs, or peerless martial arts, Yun Yiyi was still secretly happy. Relying on her innate divine power and the spatial dimension, Yun Yiyi managed to survive the early stages of the apocalypse.

Later, Yun Yiyi was lucky enough to meet a master, from whom she learned the art of the "back-stab" technique. The master said that Yun Yiyi was born with extraordinary strength and a good understanding, and it would be a waste if she didn't practice the technique. When Yun Yiyi's "back-stab" technique was good enough to be a disciple, the master left. Before leaving, he told Yun Yiyi that they would meet again if they were destined to. Yun Yiyi continued to hone her skills in the apocalypse, and just when she had become a powerful figure in the apocalypse, she suddenly found herself in this unknown dynasty. Yun Yiyi felt so aggrieved that she had no place to express her grievances.

Regardless, since she was here, she might as well live well. After all, not everyone gets to live again. Yun Yiyi's home, the village where her body currently resides, is called Yunjia Village. There are twenty-five households in the village, most of them from the same clan. Only one is the Li family, who fled famine and settled here, and another is the Zhang family, a hunter who makes a living.

Last summer, there was a light rain. It didn't rain again until the autumn harvest, and the harvest was reduced by more than half. At that point, most villagers began to tighten their belts. Unexpectedly, the following spring, when it was time for plowing, there was still no rain. Without rain, the seeds wouldn't grow. So, everyone didn't plow, figuring they could wait for the next rain to replant. By October, the river had dried up, and the riverbed was leaking. Still, it hadn't rained in Yunjia Village.
