Chapter 64: Fierce Fight with Refugees (Part 1)

After hearing the village chief's words, everyone in Yunjia Village quickly sprang into action. Men pushed carts to the left and right sides of the procession, while the elderly, women, and children were surrounded in the middle. After a moment of confusion, everyone regrouped and continued forward.

"Uncle Yun, I noticed that the refugees behind us are speeding up and rushing towards us." A young man ran over and said quickly.

"How far is it from us?" asked Yun the Butcher hurriedly.

"It's less than a mile away, Uncle Yun." The young man said anxiously.

"Okay, I understand. Now notify all the guys at the back of the team to stop for the time being. Everyone, prepare your weapons, stand in two rows in the middle of the official road, and wait to intercept the refugees." Yun the Butcher said quickly.

"Yunhai, run to the front of the team quickly and tell the village chief that the refugees behind are rushing over. Let the village chief command everyone to line up, stop temporarily, and don't move forward." Yun the butcher patted Yunhai's shoulder as he stood in front of him and said.

"Okay, Uncle Yun, I'll go now." After Yun Hai said that, he ran to the front of the team.

"Uncle Yun, why don't we run forward? Instead, we have to stop?" a young man asked in confusion.

"Brother, our team is large and we carry a lot of stuff. No matter how fast we run, we can't outrun the refugees who are empty-handed. Instead of waiting for the refugees to rush over and then fighting them in a panic, we might as well stop now and prepare for a battle." Yun Yiyi beside him answered loudly.

"Yes, Yiyi is right. Our team can't outrun them. If we continue to move forward, the refugees will rush over and disrupt our team. Once the refugees split up and attack us, we will easily suffer casualties."

"If we stop now and form a formation, we will have the upper hand. As long as we stop the refugees at the back of the team, our relatives in the front of the team will not be easily in danger. Do you understand what I mean?" Yun the Butcher asked loudly.

"I understand, Uncle Yun."

"Understood, Uncle Yun."

After hearing everyone's answers, Yun the Butcher was very happy. This was now the team's first line of defense. As long as this line of defense was held, the relatives behind him would not be in danger.

"Uncle Yun, the village chief said he knows." The voice came before the people from Yunhai arrived.

"Okay, now you find a place to stand and hold your stick." Yun the Butcher said to Yun Hai.

"I understand, Uncle Yun." Yun Hai said as he found a place to stand.

"Wife, take the three children and follow the team forward. Our area will soon become a battlefield, and it will be dangerous if you get too close." Yun the butcher instructed Zhang.

"Boss, you and Yiyi have to be careful." Zhang said worriedly.

"I will protect myself, Mom, don't worry." Yun Yiyi replied.

"Dad, why don't I come here to help?" Brother Yun said to Yun the Butcher.

"No, boss. Yiyi and I are enough for our family for now. What you have to do now is to push the cart and follow the team in front, and then, you and your brothers should protect yourselves, your mother, and our family's cart and donkey cart. The task is very difficult, can you and your brothers complete it?" asked Yun the Butcher.

"Dad, don't worry, I will protect our family." Boss Yun said hurriedly.

"Dad, you and your sister must protect yourselves and don't get hurt." Yun Lao Er said worriedly.

"Yiyi, don't rush forward by yourself. Don't forget that you are still a child. We will all feel bad if you get hurt." Yun Lao San said.

"Mom, eldest brother, second brother, third brother, don't worry. I won't rush forward foolishly." Yun Yiyi said firmly.

"Okay, wife, stop talking. Go to the front quickly. The village chief and others have stopped. Take the child to the center of the circle." Butcher Yun gently pushed Zhang and asked her to go faster.

"Okay, head of the household, the children and I will go to the front first." Zhang said, touching Yun Yiyi's head reluctantly.

Zhang and the three Yun brothers quickly caught up with the group ahead. The village chief then arranged for everyone to form a circle. The innermost circle was occupied by the elderly, women, and children, while the outermost circle was formed by the various vehicles. The outermost circle was occupied by the men of Yunjia Village, armed with sticks and hoes. The children, sensing the tension, gathered around their mothers, afraid to speak. The very youngest were either slept in their arms or carried on their parents' backs, their eyes fixed on the outside of the circle.

The village chief stood outside the circle and directed everyone.

"Yiyi, I'll go to the front to intercept the refugees now. You stay behind to stop the ones that slip through the net." said Yun the Butcher.

"Okay, Dad. You must be careful." Yun Yiyi said worriedly. Yun the Butcher was strong, but he had never practiced martial arts. If too many refugees surrounded him, he would be easily injured.

"Don't worry, Yiyi, don't be so stubborn." Yun the Butcher touched Yun Yiyi's head, then walked to the middle of the front row.

"Young men from Yunjia Village, when the refugees come charging towards us, beat them hard. Only by defeating them will our relatives behind us be safe."

"Also, everyone, please pay attention to the method. Try to work together as a team to fight one refugee. This is not only faster, but also less likely to cause injury." Yun the Butcher shouted as he looked at the refugees who would soon rush over.

"We understand, Uncle Yun." A voice responded.

Yun Yiyi stood in the middle of the back row, watching the refugees rushing towards her with hoes and sticks in hand. Her grip on the stick tightened. Judging from the situation, there were quite a few refugees chasing after them. However, there were only about twenty people from Yunjia Village directly facing the refugees. It seemed they had to fight quickly and decisively, without holding back. If they were slow, someone might get hurt. Yun Yiyi thought about it silently.

"Everyone, follow me and charge forward. As long as we defeat the men in the team, we will not lack food. They bought a lot of food in the capital yesterday." An unpleasant voice came.

"Yes, don't be afraid. We are many and they are few. If you want to stop being hungry, just follow me and rush up." Another refugee's voice rang out.

"With this batch of food, we won't have to go hungry for a long time. Brothers, speed up and move forward." The bewitching voice sounded again.

As Yun Yiyi heard the noise coming from the refugee group across from her, she realized something was amiss. This was an organized group, and they were going to be tough to deal with. She needed to find a way to capture the two ringleaders who were inciting the refugees. She stared at the refugees rushing towards her, and made a silent decision.
