After smashing the gate open again, Li Xin'er had He Tuo park the car in the open space in front of the office building.
As soon as the group got out of the car, a man in a blue work uniform upstairs waved and shouted down at them:
"There are living people here! Help us!"
Then a large number of people appeared, both men and women, anxious and agitated, shouting for help downstairs at the top of their lungs.
Are you government officials?
"Help! There's a man-eating monster in our building!"
"Finally, you're here... Waaah... I thought I was going to die..."
Li Xin'er and the others looked up and saw two six-story buildings. They estimated there were more than a dozen people wearing the same work clothes on the top floors of the two buildings.
With just a glance, Li Xin'er coldly withdrew her gaze, as if she hadn't seen anything.
The members of Zhan Yi all subconsciously and cautiously stole glances at Li Xin'er's expression.
Seeing that she had no intention of saving anyone, everyone secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
As expected, trusting Sister Xin was the right decision.
The shouts were so loud that the zombies inside the building became restless and banged on the locked door.
Then those people got so scared... they screamed even louder.
Downstairs, from the factory area behind, a considerable number of zombies were also coming in response to the noise.
Li Xin'er, preoccupied with the Level 1 zombie, gave the order:
"Wait here for me for a few minutes."
Everyone nodded. "Okay."
Carl, however, took the initiative to ask, "Do you want me to go with you?"
Seeing how eager Li Xin'er was to get into the zombie horde, Carl guessed that she was probably after the crystal core.
Thinking of her even more severe obsessive-compulsive disorder about cleanliness than his own, Carl couldn't help but ask.
Li Xin'er was about to shake her head when she suddenly remembered the task of collecting crystal cores, and immediately agreed.
"Okay, you can come with me."
Carl and Li Xin'er walked towards the factory area, while the others stayed behind to clear out the zombies.
There were people upstairs, and the group tacitly agreed not to let the mutated beast get out of the car, and even more tacitly agreed not to use firearms.
He slowly used the blade to slay the heads of the zombies that approached the vehicle, showing no intention of clearing the area out completely.
Those upstairs, unaware of the truth, only saw them killing zombies. Filled with hope, they stopped calling for help, and some even went so far as to 'instruct' the Zhan Yi members on their work.
"Use guns! How long are you going to keep killing like this? We're starving!"
Upon seeing the guns, they instinctively assumed that the Zhan Yi people were from the Chinese military, and that rescuing them was their duty.
Everyone started speaking as if it were perfectly reasonable.
"Could you please let some people into the building to clean up? Our doors are about to give way!"
"Yes, there are still many more in the building. Why are there so few of you?"
"Call the troops right now! A dozen of you are coming, plus a woman. Are you here for a vacation or to rescue someone?!"
"When I get out of here, I will definitely report you and expose you on Douyin."
The people on the Battle Wings downstairs almost burst out laughing. Vulture muttered to himself, "..."
"Do you think they've been driven insane by being locked up?"
Otherwise, how could he be so confused, unable to see reality, and spouting nonsense?
The golden eagle, having slashed off half a zombie's head with its curved blade, shrugged.
"Who knows?"
The pigeons, who were watching the show from behind them, chimed in earnestly:
"Also, we've been trapped inside and haven't received any news from the outside world, so we don't know what the situation is now."
He said this with a mocking smile.
"In general, it's just that we've been too well protected by the Chinese government."
The vulture nodded in approval.
"That's true. Compared to our countries, which are constantly bombarding and fighting, and where even children can fire guns, the people of China are indeed fortunate."
He sighed regretfully as he spoke.
"Before the end of the world, I envied the people of China the most. I dreamed of living a peaceful life in China."
Upon hearing this, Ali's eyelashes trembled slightly, his lips were tightly pursed, and he worked even harder to kill zombies.
He knew that the Legion sent him to China because they thought it was a safe place, a place that everyone in the Legion had longed for.
The hornbill beside it kicked away the approaching zombie, then swiftly and cleanly plunged a dagger into the zombie's forehead.
"Haha, vulture, you've finally achieved your dream."
The vulture curled its beak.
"The situation is worse now than before."
The others remained silent, not saying anything more. Who could argue with that? They'd finally managed to get into the land of China, only to have the apocalypse come...
That's really bad luck.
I wonder how the rest of the legion is doing, and even more so, how their own countries are faring...
The scene fell silent for a moment, save for the sound of blades piercing zombie bodies and the thud of zombies falling to the ground.
But the quiet didn't last long before it started again upstairs.
Gavin sat inside the car, his legs dangling in front of the door, wielding a scalpel with such skill that it created afterimages.
He looked up at the building, his eyes darkening.
"I wanted to sew their mouths shut with a needle."
The cassowary, watching the gray magpie revert to its true form the moment it left Sister Xin, couldn't help but offer a reminder.
"Sister Xin will be back soon."
Gavin threw the scalpel like a dart, and it plunged straight into the forehead of a zombie in front of him. He glanced at the cassowary with little interest.
"I know."
So he just said it, but didn't actually do anything.
In the past, he would already be upstairs...
As Gavin spoke, he jumped out of the car, walked slowly to the fallen zombie, pulled out a scalpel, and carefully wiped it with a white handkerchief.
