The hotel has 13 floors, and the occupancy rate is not high, probably because it just opened.
Li Xin'er's soul power probe revealed that there were zombies in 7 rooms, all on the 6th or 8th floor, and no living people were found.
So Li Xin'er led everyone directly to the 3rd floor, and didn't rush to clean upstairs.
There were plenty of rooms; each person had their own room, and even the mutated beasts were assigned rooms.
Dinner was prepared by Carl and his Zhan Yi team. Carl obtained Li Xin'er's permission to eat dinner with them.
Li Xin'er certainly knew what Carl wanted to talk to them about. The chances of surviving this were uncertain, and she needed to discuss it with his brothers beforehand.
Carl delivered dinner to Li Xin'er's room separately for Li Xin'er and Wenwen.
When he came out, Li Xin'er gave him two bottles of fine red wine.
"You can drink less."
Carl did not refuse, and after taking it, he said in a deep voice, "Thank you."
He then asked, "Then I'll come over after I finish eating?"
Li Xin'er smiled slightly and said calmly:
"No rush, I'll call you when I'm ready."
"Let's go to your room; I need to sleep here tonight."
She habitually sleeps in her own bed, and she has put everything in this room into her spatial storage, replacing it with items from her own space.
If Carl's luck runs out and she gets sick, she'll have to move, which is such a hassle...
Carl immediately understood what she meant and nodded.
"Okay, I won't disturb your meal."
"Um."
Carl walked into the next room, and the people who were eavesdropping by pressing their heads against the door quickly retreated.
Before Carl returned, everyone was excitedly gossiping and exchanging knowing glances.
The eldest brother and Sister Xin have something going on!
The eldest brother is going to see Sister Xin tonight... Hmm~ Tsk tsk~
Gavin couldn't stand these idiots anymore and said irritably:
"Stop having those thoughts."
The golden eagle grinned, raising an eyebrow at Gavin with a deliberately ambiguous smile.
"Grey Magpie, you're just jealous, totally envious!"
"Hahaha···"
The others burst into laughter, but before Gavin could react, Carl pushed the door open and entered from the outside.
"Boss!"
Everyone immediately stopped smiling and greeted him in a serious manner.
Carl nodded slightly to the crowd and asked:
"Have you fed Ersha and the others?"
Vulture chuckled as he stood up and brought Carl the best executive chair in the room.
"Don't worry, boss. All the food has been sent over. I guarantee everyone will have a good meal."
"Okay, let's eat."
Carl placed the two bottles of wine on the table and sat down in the chair.
The golden eagle next to it, acting like a "wine barrel," nearly popped its eyes out when it saw the two bottles of fine wine.
Wow, there's wine tonight? We're so lucky!
Carl, contrary to his usual sternness, nodded, his tone gentle.
"Everyone should drink less, and we should still have people take turns on night duty."
"no problem!"
Everyone ate and drank, chatting and laughing, creating a lively atmosphere.
Two wounded soldiers lying on the ground were moved over and placed next to the vulture as if in a prank. The vulture watched them eat and drink, and then teased them from time to time.
Carl seemed to be in a rare good mood today, and he would chat with everyone from time to time.
Gavin poked at the rice in his bowl with his spoon, then couldn't resist and slammed the bowl down on the table with a 'bang'.
The room seemed to have been paused, falling silent instantly.
Gavin looked up at Carl across from him, his face sour, and said:
"Boss, tell me what's wrong now, I can't eat."
The cassowary tried to speak to calm things down.
"Gray magpie..."
Carl raised his hand to stop him, put down his chopsticks, and placed his hands on his knees.
"There is something I need to tell you."
"I begged Li Xin'er for help to awaken my superpower using a crystal core."
The vulture's eyes widened, and it eagerly replied.
"That's a good thing!"
He'd been wanting superpowers for a long time.
The golden eagle exclaimed, "Wow, Sister Xin is truly omnipotent! She can even awaken her superpowers again?"
Apart from Gavin, the pigeons, cassowaries, and falcons present were much more perceptive and also sensed that something was amiss.
Their faces were all serious. The falcon, enduring the pain from its wounds, tried to sit up.
"Boss... is there any danger?"
Upon hearing this, the other few simpletons immediately suppressed their previously excited expressions.
The vulture raised its voice, "Is there danger?"
Carl scanned the room, looking at everyone in the team. The longest they'd been with him was over a decade, and the shortest was five years.
The days they spent together were filled with both bloodshed and revelry, joy and sorrow.
They've long since gone from being partners in taking jobs to becoming reliable brothers and family members who can be entrusted with their lives.
He knew his choice was selfish, but he had no choice but to go.
Carl pursed his thin lips and nodded.
"They may successfully awaken their superpowers, or they may mutate into zombies; the odds are currently unknown."
Ali was the first to stand up excitedly.
"no!"
His eyes were bloodshot, and for the first time, he spoke loudly to Carl in such an insubordinate and offensive tone.
"You can't go! We can still survive even without superpowers!"
The vulture muttered, "I disagree too."
The golden eagle scratched its head anxiously, "Boss, why don't you not go? I'll go and try it for you first?"
After saying that, he quickly explained, as if afraid Carl would misunderstand.
