Gavin, who was closest to the door, jumped up and went to open it.
The others also stood up and looked expectantly toward the door.
The door opened, and Li Xin'er glanced indifferently inside, then took a step back in disdain. Gavin was about to speak when Li Xin'er interrupted him.
She fanned away the pungent smell of smoke.
"Let's change rooms."
After saying that, without waiting for their reply, he turned and walked towards the room in front.
"well."
The people inside nodded repeatedly and hurriedly followed.
In the clean room, Li Xin'er sat on the sofa, and everyone from Zhan Yi, unusually reserved, stood around her.
Li Xin'er glanced at them and said irritably:
"Sit down, or are you comparing who's taller while standing?"
The people were all tall and strong, and the room wasn't very big. Standing there, it felt like they had breathed all the fresh air away, making it stuffy and oppressive.
Carl, seemingly unconcerned, sat down on a sofa next to Li Xin'er upon hearing this.
He actually hoped that Li Xin'er wouldn't agree at first. If he could survive the experiment and awaken his superpower, he would then try to persuade Li Xin'er. That would be the best approach.
Others who wanted to ask Li Xin'er for help did not sit down immediately.
Gavin took the first step forward and said earnestly and sincerely to Li Xin'er:
"Xin... Sister Xin, I also want to try awakening my superpowers. No matter what the outcome, I will accept it calmly. As long as you agree, you can name your conditions."
This was the first time Gavin had called Li Xin'er "Sister Xin" like everyone else.
Li Xin'er raised an eyebrow slightly, but did not reply immediately. Instead, she turned to look at the others.
The vulture nodded hastily, indicating its awakening.
"Yes! Sister Xin, we all want to, please give us a chance."
Ali lowered his head, and mustered his courage to say:
"Sister Xin, you know more than we do. Zombies and superhumans are both leveling up, so things won't be easy from now on. We want to take a gamble."
The cassowary chimed in, “Instead of waiting to be abandoned by this era, we should take the initiative and seize any chance to survive.”
Li Xin'er largely agreed with them, nodding slightly as she listened, and then asked a question.
"You can accept the same conditions as your captain?"
For her, this was undoubtedly a 'test subject' delivered to her door. She had only used crystal cores on animals before, and it was hard to say what would happen on humans.
One is willing to hit, and the other is willing to be hit; in any case, she doesn't lose out.
The golden eagle nodded vigorously, "I know, I know!"
Others chimed in with their own opinions.
"We're willing, Sister Xin, don't worry, from now on we in Zhan Yi will be loyal to you."
"I will do whatever Sister Xin commands. I will go wherever Sister Xin points. If she tells me to go east, I, Vulture, will never deviate even a fraction of a step west."
"Yes, we will collect the crystal cores as soon as possible."
Li Xin'er turned her head and asked Carl next to her,
"You agree too?"
Carl is incredibly bold, and he really trusts her completely, not even afraid of wiping out their entire team.
Carl glanced at his teammates; they had already agreed that they wouldn't stop him, and he couldn't stop them either.
"Yes, I agree."
Now that she had made up her mind, Li Xin'er stopped hesitating and said directly:
"The conditions are the same: each person will receive 1,000 level 1 crystal cores and work for me for the next 5 years. During these 5 years, you must be absolutely loyal, or I will deal with you at any time. After 5 years, you will be set free."
This time, they all said in unison, "Okay!"
"There are only two crystal cores left. Tonight, only two people can go first. The others can go next time we find a crystal core. Discuss which two will go first."
The vulture quickly raised his strong arm and took several steps forward.
"I'm coming! I can't wait!"
The golden eagle grabbed him by the back of his collar and tried to pull him back... but it couldn't budge him.
"Get out of the way! You're involved in everything, but I have to go first today."
The cassow rolled its eyes at the two of them.
"In terms of seniority, I've been with Zhan Yi longer than you have."
Ali remained silent, but walked closer to Li Xin'er, proving his point through his actions.
The pigeon's eyes narrowed slightly, and a half-smile played on its lips, making it look like a smiling tiger.
"When I first joined the War Wings, the leader said that I would receive preferential treatment in the team, and today I would be ranked at the front."
Gavin looked at the group with a gloomy face, speaking in a 'sickly' tone.
"Who gave you the courage to try and take it from me?"
As he spoke, the scalpel in his hand moved with such skill that it created afterimages, as if he were about to fight.
Li Xin'er rested her chin on her hand, watching them argue with great interest.
They all put on quite a show, talking about it as if it were some great thing, and everyone was eager to be the first to come.
In reality, everyone knows that the two people tonight are nothing more than test subjects.
Humans are so pretentious.
After arguing for a while without reaching a conclusion, Li Xin'er grew bored, yawned, and said to Carl, who had remained aloof from worldly affairs:
"If no decision is made soon, no one should do anything."
Although she spoke softly to Carl, the room immediately fell silent.
Then an even more intense sound rang out.
The cassow said anxiously, "No, no, Sister Xin, we've decided, I'll go first."
"Me too!" the hornbill chimed in.
Li Xin'er remained unmoved, staring at Carl, waiting for him to give a definite answer.
She won't actively choose people; if something goes wrong, the others might end up blaming her.
This kind of task is best left to Carl, the team captain.
Carl pursed his lips, his green eyes like a still, lifeless lake in the mountains under the moonlight at night.
