Chapter 150 Who is the important figure?

The sun was setting outside the window, and golden sunlight streamed into the carriage.

Li Xin'er turned her head and met Carl's gaze.

His green eyes shimmered with a subtle light, and the shadows cast against the light outlined his features: a high, straight nose and a prominent Adam's apple, making him look exceptionally sexy.

The thought had barely crossed her mind when Li Xin'er quickly nipped it in the bud.

One must maintain a proper demeanor in front of one's subordinates.

Li Xin'er withdrew her gaze and looked out the car window. They had already entered the vicinity of the base.

You can see that there are gates blocking the way at every street intersection, and soldiers with heavy weapons guarding them.

Furthermore, one could see groups of a dozen or so people moving between the buildings, knocking on doors to check on each household.

They were all dressed in white protective suits, completely covered up, with the Chinese national flag stickers on their arms.

They had a clear division of labor: some were killing zombies, some were carrying zombie corpses to hearses on the street, and others were registering survivors for transport...

The members of the War Wings were also watching the situation outside the window. Carl, having finally resolved a major matter that had been weighing on his mind, was unusually relaxed and became more talkative.

"One military base is not enough. In the future, this whole area should be included in the safe zone."

The pigeon affirmed, "These are all soldiers from the Flower Country."

Although they were all completely covered in white protective suits, their coordinated movements and the aura they exuded made them easy to distinguish.

The vehicle passed through six checkpoints before entering the base gate.

Once you enter the main gate, turn left to the open-air parking lot.

Looking to the right through the car window, the entire playground was filled with tents, and you could see quite a few people walking around.

The falcon couldn't help but exclaim, "My God, there are just too many people."

The golden eagle pressed its head against the window, craning its neck in curiosity, and echoed the sentiment.

"People in China rarely have guns and weapons, so it's not easy to have so many survivors."

Gavin rolled his eyes at him and said bluntly:

"You look at how many people are here, but do you even consider how many people the original population of China was?"

After these words were spoken, the car fell silent for a few seconds.

That's true...

Upon arriving at the parking lot, everyone got out of the car and it became clear that this place had been temporarily cleared. It was originally supposed to be the base's outdoor shooting range, as the ground was still dirt.

"Miss Xin'er, this way please."

Lu Chen's personal assistant immediately came over and led the way for everyone.

Li Xin'er led the way, holding Wenwen's hand. Lu Chen waited for her to join them, and was somewhat surprised to see Wenwen added to the group.

Who is this child?

Li Xin'er didn't explain further, "My younger sister is Wenwen."

Lu Chen had carefully studied Li Xin'er's biographical information beforehand and knew that she grew up in an orphanage. He only assumed that Wenwen was a child from an orphanage.

He looked at Wenwen with a gentle and warm smile and praised her:

"Wenwen is very cute."

Wenwen looked at Lu Chen with a blank expression, while her other little hand under her sleeve gripped the tail of the bamboo viper tightly.

When Lu Chen saw her looking at him, he naturally met Wenwen's gaze.

Wenwen awkwardly dodged away and looked at Li Xin'er, who shook her hand.

"Call him Uncle Lu."

Wenwen pursed her lips, not daring to look up at Lu Chen, and obediently said in a childish voice:

"Uncle Lu."

Lu Chen smiled and replied, "Hey, Wenwen, hello."

Lu Chen looked much more amiable at this moment.

At this moment, the parking lot was filled with military trucks. When they passed a shed, it caught Li Xin'er's attention.

Lu Chen followed her gaze and introduced her:

"This is a temporary dispatch area. Space is limited right now. It will be fine once the surrounding area is cleared."

Li Xin'er nodded slightly in response to his words.

A sign written in calligraphy stands in front of the shed: Dispatch Area for Outsourced Vehicles.

Inside was a large white whiteboard covered with tables filled with densely packed names and details of overseas assignments.

There are also a few tables, two for office staff, and the others a little further out. They are white with blue trim, the kind used in cafeterias, and they come with chairs.

At this moment, the tables were surrounded by men, each with a bucket of instant noodles and a piece of bread in their hands, eating heartily.

Although they were all covered in dust, Li Xin'er recognized one of them at a glance. She had met him once before and casually asked him a question.

What do they do?

These weren't confidential questions, and Lu Chen answered readily.

"They are drivers; some are from the military, and some are recruited externally."

They use the vehicles a lot now, and they are all frontline workers who have limited time for meals, so they often eat quickly here.

Li Xin'er didn't say anything more and casually looked away.

As the large group of fully armed men passed by, the drivers who were having lunch all looked up curiously.

Qin Siye was still wearing a thin hooded sweatshirt. When he looked up, he only saw Li Xin'er's profile.

His narrow, almond-shaped eyes were slightly upturned, carrying a hint of doubt. He felt that this profile looked somewhat familiar, so he couldn't help but stare at it for a few more moments.

The blond-haired Qian Leduo next to him, slurping instant noodles, mumbled:

"Who is this important figure? So many people are escorting him."

Qian Leduo followed Qin Siye's gaze and saw Li Xin'er's back.

Seeing Li Xin'er holding a little girl's hand, he couldn't help but say:

"And they have families to support them."

The others nearby also joined in the hushed discussion.
