Gavin was bent over, one hand covering his stomach, looking up at Carl.
"Boss, I hit the nail on the head. You seem guilty. Are you avoiding me? This isn't like you."
Carl was speechless for a moment, his face darkening. He was indeed avoiding it, even though he had never faced his own heart.
He changed direction, avoiding Gavin who was blocking his way, and then stepped away again.
"Get ready to go."
Gavin, however, remained relentless. This time, instead of blocking Carl's path, he stood up straight and shouted loudly at Carl's back:
"Boss! Give up!"
Carl was almost right in front of the plane by now, and the other members of the Fighter Wings could no longer pretend they hadn't seen him.
Gavin seemed to be doing it on purpose; a cynical, triumphant smile played on his lips as he continued to raise his voice.
“She is not someone we can even dream of. You know that yourself, and all of us know that too! Everyone understands their own status; we are not worthy of her, we cannot reach her.”
Carl's chest heaved noticeably, a sign of his turbulent anger. His hands, clenched tightly under his sleeves, were making a cracking sound.
The rest of the Battle Wing crew could no longer pretend. Falcon led the way, speaking up...
"Boss?"
His questioning tone indicated that the group had inquired about the reason for the incident.
Forced to confront the situation, Carl suddenly turned around, clenched his fist, and swung it at Gavin's face.
Gavin, who also became a superhuman, even though it was only a healing-type superhuman, still experienced an increase in speed.
Although he was still no match for Carl, the distance gave Gavin time to react, and he managed to dodge the punch.
That's when things got less lucky. Carl was determined to punch him, but he missed the first punch, and then he threw another.
"You're saying I'm running away?"
He punched Gavin in the right cheek, grabbed Gavin's collar with his left hand, pulled him closer, and raised his fist again.
"You're saying I'm not good enough?"
Seeing the two start fighting, the other members of Zhan Yi reacted and rushed over to break them up.
"Boss!"
"Boss! Let's talk this out, we're all brothers."
Vulture: "Yeah, Gavin may have a sharp tongue, but he's definitely kind to you."
It must be said that some people, unaware of the truth, offered words of advice that, without leaving a trace, stabbed Carl in the heart.
Before the others could restrain him, Carl threw another punch and angrily retorted,
"Aren't you the same? You're still dreaming! Gavin, do you really think you can give up just by changing what you call me?"
After he finished speaking, Carl was grabbed by the arms of the vulture and the golden eagle and dragged away.
He has a strength-based superpower. In fact, if things really got serious, Gavin wouldn't just have the bleeding from his mouth right now, and the two vultures wouldn't be able to pull him away so easily.
They were all brothers, and even if a dispute arose, they knew what was important. Carl reluctantly backed down.
Supported by the falcon, Gavin lowered his head, his gray eyes unreadable. He raised one hand, his thumb wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, and grinned, revealing the wound.
The smile carried a heavy sense of mockery, seemingly mocking his own cowardice. He then looked up at Carl and said firmly:
Yes, I like her!
The vulture was still confused. What was going on between the two? Had they argued about going back to find someone?
Who would have thought Gavin would suddenly say something like that? He felt a sense of helplessness, like a CPU that had burned out, and asked in confusion:
Who do you like?
The smart ones had already figured out who the main character in this matter was.
The pigeon beside it, somewhat embarrassed, grabbed the vulture's arm.
"It's alright, it's alright. Just talk it out. We should get going now. Vulture still needs to check the case again."
He wanted to use this to change the subject and ease the awkwardness on the field.
Unfortunately, Gavin had already thrown caution to the wind and was unwilling to back down.
He scanned everyone present, speaking slowly and deliberately.
"I like Sister Xin, and the boss likes Sister Xin too. Does anyone else want to express their opinion?"
When Gavin said the last sentence, he looked at the pigeon and stared at it, which was very pointed at him.
The pigeons, feeling guilty, avoided eye contact and also gave up on pulling the vultures away.
Gavin's words caused an awkward silence on the field.
Everyone's eyes darted between Carl and Gavin, their expressions serious and their gazes complex, all seeming to want to say something but holding back.
Finally, Vulture couldn't resist any longer. He looked conflicted and hesitated, saying:
"Um...we are now Sister Xin's subordinates...this...is not...good."
He spoke softer and softer, mainly because he was facing Carl, and there was a sense of guilt and betrayal in his voice when he said these words.
If it were just Gavin alone, he would definitely start arguing.
You really have a wild idea!
What kind of extraordinary person is Sister Xin? How dare these people even think of such a thing?
Carl's face was so black it was almost as dark as a vulture's.
Now that things were out in the open, he didn't try to avoid the topic anymore. He took out a cigar, lit it, and started puffing away.
The golden eagle touched its bald head, looking at Carl and Gavin incredulously, somewhat amused and exasperated.
