Under his anxious and expectant gaze, Li Xin'er nodded slightly.
"Yes, I know."
Qin Siye was overjoyed and quite surprised to receive a reply; he was also secretly delighted.
"You remember me?!"
The way she looked at him just now made him think she had forgotten.
Li Xin'er glanced around, then looked away and fixed her gaze on Qin Siye, saying to him half-jokingly:
"Given the current situation, it may not be appropriate to fulfill the agreement."
This man persistently sought her out twice, just to have a competition with her.
Qin Siye certainly remembered the promise she made, but as soon as he saw her, he was only subconsciously afraid that she would leave, and he didn't think about this issue at all.
Only after Li Xin'er mentioned it did he realize it, belatedly.
Qin Siye awkwardly scratched the back of his head.
"That's true."
After saying that, as if afraid that Li Xin'er would just end the conversation and leave, Qin Siye quickly tried to salvage the situation.
"However, there will definitely be opportunities in the future. I'll keep your car."
He forced himself to start a conversation in the car.
"Um...would you like to go take a look? It's at the base."
Speaking of this invitation, Qin Siye was actually quite nervous.
After the car was damaged that night, although he had been looking for tools to repair it for days, his repair skills were limited, and materials were hard to find, so the damage was still quite severe.
He was afraid that if Li Xin'er saw this, she would think he was someone who didn't take care of his car...
Ever since witnessing Li Xin'er's driving skills, he couldn't help but categorize her as someone like him.
Race car drivers also love their cars.
Qian Leduo, standing nearby, smiled and chimed in, enthusiastically helping his brother.
"Yeah, Brother Ye treats that car like his lifeblood. He was afraid he wouldn't be able to keep it at home, so he insisted on driving it to the base to keep it safe. On the way here, we almost got killed by zombies several times because of that car."
Upon hearing the broadcast, they packed up and set off for the base. It would have been more appropriate for the two of them to travel together in one car, but unexpectedly, Brother Ye insisted on driving this sports car.
He said there were too many riots and looting outside, and it wasn't safe to leave his house in the garage.
Qian Leduo tried his best to persuade him, telling him that at this time of year, probably no one would want the car, and driving it out would be 'asking for death,' but he couldn't dissuade Qin Siye from his pleas...
The two of them made a rumbling sound as they drifted at extreme speed through the horde of zombies.
It's fortunate they were professionals, otherwise we wouldn't even know which zombie's stomach the bone fragments are in right now.
Qin Siye felt embarrassed when he heard Qian Leduo expose his past, and quickly retorted.
"No, no, don't listen to his nonsense."
He felt that almost dying in a pile of zombies sounded too pathetic and embarrassing, and he didn't want Li Xin'er to know.
That night, Li Xin'er witnessed his protective attitude towards the car, and after hearing Qian Leduo's words, she had a pretty good idea of what was going on.
She was somewhat puzzled as to why this person was so persistent.
"Why do you insist on having a match with me? Is it because you think I'm better? Or are you still upset about losing to me that night?"
"No, I have no objections."
Qin Siye was afraid she would misunderstand, so he quickly explained.
He usually appears as a rebellious and unruly young man, but I never expected him to be so restrained and nervous when facing Li Xin'er.
He forced himself to continue:
"That night, I really did lose badly."
Qian Leduo was in the passenger seat that night. As Qin Siye's professional navigator, he had a lot to say about this.
He thought to himself, "That's not just bad, it's extremely bad. It's a complete disaster in my racing career."
"At first, I approached you because I was a bit unconvinced and wanted to have a proper rematch."
"However, it's gone now!"
Li Xin'er smiled broadly, her tone slightly teasing.
"What? You've already given up before the competition even started?"
When the topic of racing came up, Qin Siye seemed to become more relaxed as he spoke, and his tone became much more natural.
"No, like you said, it's not the right time now. Let's talk about it when there's a chance later."
Qian Leduo nodded in agreement and said to Li Xin'er:
"Yes, yes, right. There are zombies everywhere outside, and there's no suitable place. I believe there will be opportunities in the future. By the way, goddess, you live in the base, right? Which district do you live in?"
Qian Leduo then picked up the conversation and started chatting.
Li Xin'er thought about it and realized that these two people might be useful in the future due to the special nature of their professions. Since they had a connection before, it wouldn't hurt to talk about it.
“I live behind the office area.”
Qian Leduo was surprised, "Is there a accommodation area in the back? I really didn't know."
Qin Siye felt that he had asked a lot of questions, so he nudged him from behind to remind him that that was enough and he should be mindful of his words.
Qian Leduo reacted quickly; upon receiving the reminder, he immediately laughed and swiftly changed the subject.
"Haha, we're always out and about, so we're not familiar with the base at all."
"By the way, I'm in the base's transport team with Brother Ye."
As he spoke, Qian Leduo tugged at his work clothes and gestured to Li Xin'er.
"Goddess, if you need anything or any help, just come to us. We live over there in the parking lot, just walk forward from the dispatch room and turn left into that area of tents."
Qian Leduo thought that since Li Xin'er was staying at the base, and she was a girl, she could find someone to help her if she needed anything, so he kindly brought it up.
"Good, the transport team is not bad, keep up the good work."
Li Xin'er wasn't very familiar with the two of them, and there was nothing that interested her at the moment, so she didn't have much to say.
