Both Pigeon and Gavin were caught up in their own thoughts, and even after being pulled apart by the vulture and the golden eagle, neither of them stopped talking.
The pigeon tugged at its collar, gave a light sneer, and its tone was full of mockery.
"It seems you have a very accurate understanding of your own position. Since you know it in your heart, you can do whatever you want with your yandere and crazy act, but please don't get involved."
The golden eagle tugged at the pigeon's hem, and said hesitantly in a low voice:
"Pigeon, you should also shut up and say less."
Everyone knows Gavin is crazy, so why provoke him?
In contrast, Gavin's expression changed quickly, regaining its previous calm.
"It's fine if we don't get involved, but you promise you won't have any feelings for her in the future."
The golden eagle, sensing something amiss, disagreed, saying, "Grey Magpie, that's going too far."
Why are they making promises now? What's going on here?
Carl happened to walk over, his eyes sweeping back and forth between the two of them, his deep voice revealing little emotion.
"What happened?"
He asked the question knowing the answer already, and everyone present knew the answer perfectly well.
The vulture was about to explain when the pigeon spoke first.
"Grey Magpie made me promise that I wouldn't fall in love with Sister Xin."
Gavin, adopting a "take responsibility for my actions" attitude, nodded cooperatively without denying anything.
"Yes, since he says it's not just liking, then I need a guarantee."
Carl looked at Gavin strangely, feeling that he seemed to be acting more and more abnormally, and that something was wrong.
The pigeon laughed in exasperation at Gavin's still self-righteous tone.
"Ha, Grey Magpie, aren't you taking yourself too seriously? What business is it of mine what I like? Why should I make any promises to you?"
Gavin didn't answer, but his expression showed his current stubbornness about the issue.
After a few doubts arose in Carl's heart, a scrutinizing look appeared in his eyes as he looked at Gavin. He thoughtfully followed the pigeon and repeated the question.
"On what grounds?"
Gavin pursed his lips and glanced at Carl, his gray eyes seeming to be in the center of a tornado, with unreadable emotions churning within them.
He seemed to want to say something but hesitated, swallowing back the words that were on the tip of his tongue.
Everyone stared at him, waiting for an answer, but in the end, he ignored everyone and turned to leave.
Seeing him walk towards the gate, the falcon quickly followed, calling out, "Grey Magpie!"
Carl didn't stop him, but watched Gavin's retreating figure with complex emotions in his eyes.
The vulture suddenly said something to the golden eagle beside it.
"Golden Eagle, don't you think the Grey Magpie is acting a bit strange?"
The golden eagle stroked its chin, tilted its head and thought for a moment, then shook its head in confusion.
Seeing him shake his head, the vulture became somewhat doubtful and asked uncertainly, "No?"
In the past, Gavin's outbursts always occurred in his dark room, during interrogations, or when he was examining corpses.
When did he become so persistent about the issue of love?
Is the power of first love really that great?
At that moment, Carl suddenly turned around and looked at the vulture.
The vulture, feeling guilty under his gaze, thought he had said something wrong and quickly tried to change the subject with a laugh.
"Hehe, the equipment over there hasn't been organized yet, I'll go right now, I'll go right now!"
Just as he was about to leave, Carl asked:
"What do you think is wrong with him?"
The vulture's eyes widened instantly; this was a question that required further discussion.
He nudged Carl with a gossipy grin and asked:
"Boss, you noticed it too?"
Carl slightly raised his eyelids, but instead of answering his question, he urged:
"Just tell me what you found."
"There are many, boss. Don't you think that Gray Magpie is like a different person whenever Sister Xin is mentioned?"
Didn't he previously want to preserve Sister Xin as a specimen?
As the vulture spoke, it also made a gesture by shrinking its neck, looking frightened.
Carl was speechless. Why was he acting like such a drama queen? When it came to accepting a task, he was quicker and more ruthless than anyone else, but now, with just a specimen, was it really necessary to be so over-the-top?
"That was before. Gray Magpie didn't know her strength back then, and she never mentioned it again."
Speaking of this, Carl couldn't help but jokingly call it a vulture.
"Didn't you say back then that even 190 would be fine, let alone 19? And what happened in the end...?"
These were things they said on their way to the hotel after accepting the mission. At that time, they didn't know how formidable Li Xin'er was, so they didn't count.
Seeing that the leader of the pigeons didn't blame the gray magpie and even chatted with the vulture, the pigeons walked away somewhat unhappily.
Carl glanced at it sideways, then looked away and continued speaking to the vulture:
"Anything else? Is something wrong?"
Vulture briefly shared his thoughts with Carl, explaining that Gray Magpie reacted strongly and strangely whenever Li Xin'er was mentioned.
Carl covered his eyes and pondered. Thinking back, it was indeed the case. After separating from Li Xin'er, he seemed to start acting strangely.
Could it really be that it was all just an act in front of Li Xin'er?
At that moment, a remark the vulture muttered to itself caught Carl's attention.
The vulture said, "Sigh, love is such a troublesome problem. Before the gray magpie called her 'Sister Xin,' she called her 'Pretty Sister, Pretty Sister' all the time, and there wasn't a problem then. How come..."
Something seemed to flash through Carl's mind, but before he could grasp it, he quickly seized the opportunity to ask the vulture.
