Chapter 234 They've Arrived

The surviving elderly man continued his 'property management' work, gathering other survivors in the community to begin clearing out the zombies.

Liu Lei is one of the few original residents among these young people. He has lived here since he was a child, and the elderly people in his neighborhood have all watched him grow up. In addition, all his family members have turned into zombies, leaving only him, so he joined the 'property management'.

Liu Lei looked firmly at Tan Jingrui, leaving no room for negotiation, and blocked Tan Jingrui's path.

“We could be together before, and we can be together this time too.”

An old man wearing a woolen hat patted Tan Jingrui on the shoulder.

"It's settled then, stay."

Tan Jingrui wanted to refuse again, "But..."

An elderly woman with completely white hair across from him raised her cane and poked Tan Jingrui's shoe with displeasure.

"Those things we exchanged also ended up in my mouth, so don't argue with us."

When there was no food left in the neighborhood, Liu Lei remembered the warehouse key that Li Xin'er had left him.

The distance is far, and the outside is chaotic; it's impossible for him to safely bring the things back by himself.

They told everyone about it, and after discussing it, they organized a group of young people from the neighborhood to drive to a warehouse in the suburbs and bring the supplies back.

Everything was going smoothly until they were almost home, when that scoundrel spotted them and set his sights on them.

The two groups stood facing each other at the main gate, each holding their own weapons.

One side uses a large spoon, broom, and mop, while the other side uses a stick and cleaver, clearly demonstrating a higher level of power.

What was expected to be a fierce battle turned out to be a lot of zombies due to the commotion.

Fortunately, Liu Lei's group managed to hide inside the community's iron gate in time, while the thugs were either caught or bitten.

Most of the thugs managed to escape, but the unlucky leader was bitten to death.

The leader of the gang, Wei Sanwa, was a formidable figure. He used to be involved in the underworld in this area and had quite a few henchmen under his command.

The surviving underlings went back to report, exaggerating the story, and thus the feud was sealed.

At the beginning, there were too many zombies and too much chaos. Wei Sanwa probably didn't have time to deal with them. He just sent a few scattered henchmen to block the neighborhood and carry out all sorts of looting and vandalism.

They would rob and run, never lingering in battle, and would occasionally provoke zombies, never letting the neighborhood have any peace. The residents were furious but helpless.

Later, news of the base spread, and the people in the community prepared to go to the base. Wei Sanwa also received the news. It's unclear whether he was prepared in advance or was finally free after finishing his work.

With one side arresting people and the other hiding, the residents of the community were unable to leave the western part of the city and suffered considerable losses.

During this period, Wei Sanwa formed an alliance with another group of people, and his power grew stronger and stronger, and he soon became the big boss of the western part of the city.

He even planted spies to keep an eye on everything, all in order to find Liu Lei and his gang and avenge his brother.

Liu Lei and his group couldn't win in a fight, nor could they confront them head-on. So they had the people in the community split up and go to their respective bases, since not everyone Wei Sanwa's men could recognize them.

In this way, some people left, either because they got into a fight that day and were remembered, so they couldn't leave even if they wanted to, or because they didn't want to leave.

Tan Jingrui and his group were the former. They were tenants in the community and went along when the supplies were being delivered. They were also the ones who blocked the first wave of the fight.

Those who stayed behind found the underground drainage tunnel a good place. If they initially did it to escape Wei Sanwa's pursuit, they later found it to be a great place, better than the outside world, where they didn't have to worry about zombie attacks, so they set up camp there.

The drainage system only leads to the western part of the city. They can't get out from above, and there's still no good way out below. With their supplies running out and the western part of the city completely occupied by several forces, they have no chance to get out.

An old man with a beard sighed sadly, "Alas, it's us old folks who have dragged you down."

"We shouldn't have gone and stolen it, this whole thing..."

Before he could finish speaking, the old woman next to him, who was holding a baby, immediately glared at him sideways. Her husband had voted against her during the election, making him the opposing party!

"So what if we take from them? They're allowed to take from us, but we can't take back what we took from them?"

When the thugs escaped, they didn't forget to take some of Liu Lei's original batch of supplies with them. The zombies destroyed some of them, and in the end, less than half of them were preserved.

Some young people nearby also chimed in, disagreeing with him.

"Exactly. What's left in the west of the city isn't anything good. I think we did the right thing by robbing them."

“Their things weren’t obtained cleanly either. This is our way of getting revenge and ridding the people of a scourge.”

Others chimed in, "Didn't Wei Sanwa declare that the west of the city is his territory? There's nothing wrong with us taking over his territory!"

Mentioning Wei Sanwa fills everyone with righteous indignation, and they wish they could chop him up and feed him to the dogs on the spot.

Many of their family members had been killed by Wei Sanwa. Rather than going to the base, those who stayed seemed more interested in avenging their families. Staying here was also a way to fight Wei Sanwa to the end.

A man with a buzz cut leaned casually to one side and said nonchalantly:

"Forget all the grand principles, I'll say it again: in this world, good people die young, while bad people live long lives causing trouble. So what if I robbed it? I ate it anyway."

I'm willing to be the bad guy. It's just that it wasn't our team that went out that day. If it were me, I wouldn't have let those people leave either. What kind of good people do you think Brother Xin and his gang are? They've done plenty of arson, murder, robbery, and torture."

The elder who had spoken first raised his hand to stop everyone's chatter and said in a deep voice:
