"How about I carry you across?"
Just then, number 105, a silly boy, suddenly uttered a sentence in a buzzing voice.
Li Xin'er turned her head in surprise. Are you mocking me?
The red-haired guy next to number 105 slapped him on the back of the head.
"Did you drink too much fake alcohol at the bar?"
Number 105 gave a sheepish, embarrassed smile and offered an awkward "excuse."
"I just saw that she was having a lot of trouble walking."
Actually, he wasn't a kind-hearted person, but seeing the way this person was walking cautiously in front of him, he didn't know why he blurted it out.
Even without seeing the woman's face, he could sense a noble air about her that didn't belong here, as if the filth of the place was a defilement to her.
Upon hearing this, Red Hair glanced down at the ground, then looked at Li Xin'er, who was tiptoeing as if afraid of touching the ground too much, and said irritably:
"So dramatic!"
As he spoke, he raised the baseball bat in his hand again, grinning menacingly at Li Xin'er.
"Hurry up and leave, or you'll regret it."
To Li Xin'er, this threatening gesture was like a puppy with its fur standing on end, baring its teeth at her—completely intimidating.
"Oh? How do you want me to look good?"
Instead, she seemed quite intrigued, and standing there with her arms crossed, she asked him the same question.
"Hey, you little rascal..."
Red Hair rolled up his sleeves, looking ready to fight.
Suddenly, a man with a low profile, also carrying a large machete, dark skin, a high nose, and still tall and muscular, spoke up to interrupt.
"Someone's coming!"
The five men instantly became serious, reverting to their menacing expressions from before they robbed her. They walked to the middle of the alley and waited for someone to come from that direction.
At this moment, Li Xin'er glanced at the person who spoke. His features were somewhat similar to those of No. 105, so it seemed that they were relatives.
He hadn't looked in that direction, yet he was the first to know who was coming. Was it a psychic ability? Or a hearing-enhancing ability?
When number 105 walked over, she nudged Li Xin'er.
"You should leave quickly."
If they start fighting later, it won't be safe here, and they won't have time to worry about her.
Li Xin'er was quite curious: could these people really manage to rob someone using this kind of robbery method?
She took a few steps forward and stood behind the five people, ready to watch the live broadcast.
The sound of footsteps approached, and three people walked towards them.
"Stop, put your things down, and leave."
The bearded man pointed his broadsword at the three men, threatening them menacingly.
Li Xin'er looked up and peered through the gap in the five-person room at the three people who had just arrived. They looked nonchalant and each carried a bulging black canvas bag, and they didn't seem like troublemakers.
A thin man in a green casual jacket looked at the bearded man and his companions with complete confidence.
"Hey guys, you don't look familiar. Which side are you from?"
He had a gold tooth next to his front teeth, which was particularly noticeable when he spoke.
Number 105 had a stiff, somewhat unnatural expression on his face.
Red Hair's eyes showed panic, while Black Face and the other older man remained relatively calm with expressionless faces.
The man with the full beard had most of his face covered, so it was impossible to tell anything about him.
He didn't respond, as if his patience was about to run out. He impatiently took a step forward, and the broadsword was now close to Gold Tooth's chest.
"Things or life, choose one?"
Gold Tooth was genuinely intimidated by this imposing aura, and put on a fawning smile, pushing his broadsword aside.
"Brother, let's talk this out. We're all in this business, give me some face?"
As he spoke, he took out a pack of cigarettes from his breast pocket, took one out, and handed it to the bearded man.
"Here, want one?"
The bearded man glanced down at the cigarette, then looked away, staring at the gold tooth again, and said slowly,
"My patience is limited."
At this moment, Red Hair spoke up again. He stepped forward, tapping the baseball bat in his palm.
"You'd better be smart and put your things down and leave, or don't blame us for being impolite."
Li Xin'er, watching from behind, facepalmed. So there was a script after all, the routines were all the same. Had these people even rehearsed before?
The man next to Gold Tooth, wearing a floral jacket with the sleeves rolled up to reveal colorful tattoos on his arms, spoke even more arrogantly than Gold Tooth, with a disdainful smile and an air of complete confidence.
"Oh? How are you being impolite? We're Brother Xin's men. Who are you working for? Dare to state your names?"
Still no response.
Now the three men were even more arrogant, looking at the bearded group with a mocking expression.
"You're not from the west side of the city, are you? Are you casual gamblers? Or did you just arrive?"
Seeing that there was no room for negotiation, the bearded man's eyes deepened, his grip on the broadsword tightened, and he glanced at the black bags the three men were carrying, pursing his lips slightly.
"Do you know Brother Xin from the west side of the city? He's my own brother! How dare he stop me? Doesn't he even know whose territory this is?!"
Gold Tooth was still yelling when Bearded Man suddenly moved, took a big step closer, transferred the knife from his right hand to his left, and swung his right fist, punching Gold Tooth in the face.
The battle was about to break out. The bearded man threw a punch, and the four men behind him rushed forward as well.
Li Xin'er watched with great interest from behind. Three of the five men had large machetes, but none of them used them when they started fighting; they all just threw punches.
Her assessment was that they weren't ruthless enough and lacked professionalism.
The eight men were fighting in the narrow alley, ignoring the puddles on the ground and relentlessly beating the ground.
