Chapter 69 Hot Potato

Yes, and the little girl from the couple is also missing.

The vulture picked up an iron bar, which looked like a crowbar, from behind the door and showed it to Carl.

"Boss, when I arrived, the door was blocked from the outside by this iron bar."

Carl glanced at the dented iron bar, then turned his gaze to the broken window inside the restaurant.

Gavin had already put on white gloves, carefully inspected the window, then nimbly climbed out and checked various parts of the outside windowsill before finally drawing his conclusion.

"The window was smashed open from the inside by the broken-legged chair next to it, and some people managed to escape through here."

"Based on the footprints outside the window, it can be inferred that a man left from here, over 1.8 meters tall, and weighing more than 200 kilograms. The radial, brownish-red drops of blood suggest that the incident occurred about four hours ago."

"Two hundred jin?"

The vultures asked in confusion, "Among the people we saw yesterday, there shouldn't be anyone weighing more than 200 pounds."

Gavin shrugged and said casually,

"Add that little girl, and you'll have it!"

After saying that, he opened the medical kit, took out the sampling tools, and climbed out the window again.

At this moment, the others who had gone to check the hotel returned and reported to Carl:

"Boss, we didn't find anything inside the building. The downstairs door was deliberately damaged. The zombies downstairs were all cleared out by gunfire, using 5.56 bullets."

Carl frowned, his gaze heavy, and commanded the group:

"The investigation needs to be expanded, and results must be obtained within two days."

He and Ye Ming agreed on a three-day timeframe: Ye Guangyu would be buried three days later, and they had to find the seven missing people before then.

"Yes, boss!"

Carl was left with only Doctor Gavin and Ali, while the other team members dispersed and went their separate ways.

"Boss, are these people locked up by Li Xin'er?"

Ali couldn't resist asking Carl out of curiosity.

Before Carl could answer, Gavin eagerly jumped in to start the conversation.

"Although this method isn't very elegant, I think it's alright if a pretty lady does it."

It's a pity again; if it were him, he would have a thousand ways to make these people die more perfectly.

Ali suddenly realized that Li Xin'er had actually gone easy on him when she beat him up, and couldn't help but sigh.

"Indeed, beautiful women are the most dangerous."

Carl, his face still cold, seemed uninterested in the small talk, and turned to leave.

"We'll know if it's her or not once we find her."

He guessed it wasn't her.

The woman's cold arrogance was impossible to conceal; if she wanted to kill, she might have been more direct.

·

Not far from the hotel, there is a construction site under construction.

The area is enclosed by blue sheet metal, and inside are two newly built buildings that currently appear to be nothing more than a concrete frame riddled with holes.

Behind a square cement pillar on the third floor, Yu Ping was disheveled, his torn clothes covered in mud and blood. He was holding a little girl in his arms, staring blankly at the ground with his big, dark eyes.

Yu Ping was dozing off, his head drooping, when suddenly a large movement pulled his neck, jolting him awake.

He instinctively hugged the little girl tighter, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily. He looked towards the stairwell, and only breathed a sigh of relief when he found nothing unusual or dangerous.

"Wenwen, are you hungry?"

Yu Ping looked down at the little girl in his arms and asked softly.

The little girl turned her head and glanced at him a beat late, staring blankly without saying a word. A few seconds later, she looked down at the ground again.

Yu Ping sighed helplessly, raised his hand and ruffled her little head with its two braids.

"You heartless little brat, you're ignoring me now. If I hadn't brought you out, you'd probably be nothing but bones by now."

Recalling what happened last night, he still felt a lingering fear.

Last night, Du Shi died, and to make matters worse, Wang Dewen also passed away shortly afterward.

He suspected that Wang Dewen had been frightened to death because when everyone said that Du Shi had died, he had also checked on Wang Dewen, and he was fine at that time.

They didn't know that normal death could turn people into zombies. At the time, Zhong Guoyi was planning to wrap the person up and put them in a room, but Du Shi bit him instead.

Blood gushed out, and everyone was terrified. The room was in chaos, and it was at that moment that Wang Dewen underwent the same strange transformation.

He lunged at Liang Heping, who was closest to him. By the time Liang Heping reacted, it was too late; a large chunk of flesh had been bitten off his thigh.

He grabbed a stool and urged everyone to kill the zombies together, but all they did was run. When they got to the door, they tragically found that the door couldn't be opened.

Everyone can guess why the door can't be opened; it's either Fu Xihan's group or someone else.

Is it to avenge Li Xin'er?

Nobody had time to think about that then; everyone was blocking the entrance. The cleaning staff got scratched first, and then...

Then the room descended into hell.

Seeing that there was no other way, he went back and smashed the window, intending to climb out. At the time, he was desperate and thought that dying from a fall was better than dying from chewing on something.

He had just climbed onto the windowsill when Wu Jie suddenly appeared out of nowhere, grabbing the back of his shirt and pleading with tearful eyes.

"Yu Ping, I beg you, please take Wenwen with you."

He was going to refuse, but he himself was in a precarious situation, let alone taking care of a six or seven-year-old child.

"She's still young, she's very well-behaved..."

Wu Jie clung to him tightly, refusing to let go, and kept forcefully turning Wenwen, who was in her arms, to show him.
