Chapter 79 I am who I am

A cold wind brushed against Li Xin'er's cheeks, her black hair danced wildly, obscuring her eyes and covering her face.

"Whether it's a red spider lily or a red datura flower, it's no longer important to me."

Her voice was unusually gentle, yet it carried a chilling aura, giving people a sense of distance and estrangement, and an unbreakable sense of distance.

Previously, she was fixated on her memories of her life, but now that she knows, it's better not to have known.

Li Xin'er walked along the narrow side of the building, from in front of the sofa and coffee table, toward the little girl.

This process is like walking on a tightrope; one wrong step and you'll be smashed to pieces.

The little girl stared intently at her feet, not daring to utter a sound, for fear that something might happen to her.

Li Xin'er stood facing the little girl with her heel half dangling in the air. Her expression remained calm and composed. She gently patted the little girl's head and smiled:

"From the moment you started to worry about me, it's clear that you're no longer me."

Perhaps we were once one, but after we separated, you blossomed with goodwill, while I remained mostly in a state of confusion.

Therefore, we have grown up separately, had different experiences, and developed different thoughts. Now we are two separate individuals.

The little girl grew increasingly anxious as she listened, her eyes welling with tears as she shook her head repeatedly.

"No, no, I've always been a part of my sister."

Li Xin'er denied her again, the curve of her lips seemingly mocking her naivety and ignorance.

"You are just a part of us, carrying our shared memories, nothing more."

Our part isn't your whole, is it?

Are you still a mandala flower? Have you lived on the other shore for a thousand or ten thousand years?

You are still Li Xin'er in this world, from an orphan to a superstar.

You are the Heavenly Dao, the Heavenly Dao that lies dormant, awaiting the opening of a new world.

Don't you understand? You are simply you.

Li Xin'er jabbed her right index finger hard into her heart, stared directly at the little girl, and spoke again, each word firm and earnest.

"And I am just me."

I was born in the River of Oblivion!

I am immortal, my body forged from my soul!

I've caused chaos and unrest in both the Lonely Cloud Star and the other two realms!

I was 'crowdfunded' by humans and ghosts and transported to this apocalyptic world, taking over Li Xin'er's identity!

You're the one who hasn't seen the truth, you're still living in the past, and it's Shahua who can't move on!

He went to great lengths to find Manzhu, but did he ever ask me, Xin'er, if I agreed?

Perhaps you still deeply love Shahua, but I don't!

Some things are gone and can never be undone!

Manzhu died on the River of Oblivion, and I am Xin'er.

I endured immense suffering in the River of Oblivion, undergoing a phoenix-like rebirth, not so that one day I could merge with others and become someone who is not truly me.

Her chaotic thoughts gradually cleared up, and she remembered that Xin'er was the name she had given herself.

Xin means that the spirit eats the breath.

Xin refers to the fragrance of offerings enjoyed by spirits and deities during sacrificial rites.

She always mistakenly believed herself to be a wandering ghost, and whenever delicious food was displayed on the offering altar, its aroma filling the air, she was filled with envy.

She envied those ghosts who were remembered, while she had nothing.

After Li Xin'er finished speaking, she immediately formed hand seals and forcibly separated her soul from the physical body of 'Li Xin'er'.

The little girl turned pale with fright at her sudden action.

"Sister! No!"

The Heavenly Dao is asleep, and although this world is temporarily in a state of idling, the rules of the Great Dao are still in effect!

Li Xin'er, having separated from her body, is likely to be excluded by the rules, forcibly pushed out of this world, and sent to a world with rules governing souls.

She stepped forward and grabbed Li Xin'er, but all she grasped was a soulless body.

She pulled 'Li Xin'er' back onto the sofa, and when she looked up, she saw Xin'er floating in the air, dressed in a red dress with wide sleeves.

Her red skirt fluttered, like a blood-red butterfly emerging from its cocoon.

Despite having the exact same appearance, the person before me was cold and alluring, with an arrogant and domineering look in her eyes, and a slight, cold smile on her red lips, flamboyant and unrestrained.

With her right palm facing upwards, Xin'er saw a flowing mass of soul power gradually materialize and take on color.

The red light rippled like a red ribbon, with visible streaks of black mixed in.

As more and more of his soul power manifested, white appeared!

Although few in number, they do exist!

"How...how could this be..."

The little girl exclaimed in disbelief.

Xin'er bluntly exposed the truth.

"That's the truth. I am still whole without you."

The little girl clutched her aching chest and was speechless for a moment.

Li Xin'er withdrew her soul power and said calmly:

"So, let's just each go our own way."

The little girl nodded repeatedly.

"Okay, I'll do whatever you say. We won't merge. You can go back into your body first, okay?"

Perhaps because they shared the same origin, setting aside the divine aura belonging to the Heavenly Dao, Li Xin'er felt a natural sense of trust and affinity with the little girl before her. Li Xin'er smiled gently.

"Fool, if the Great Dao wanted to leave me, it would have done so long ago."

This world is different from others; before the end of the apocalypse, the direction of everything is unknown, and the rules are yet to be determined.

Humanity may be elevated to a higher level of existence due to factors such as supernatural power crystals.

It may also gradually deteriorate, becoming far worse than before.

In any case, until then, the Great Dao will not clearly define what should and should not appear in this world.

Therefore, even if she is a spirit, she will not be removed from the body.

The little girl suddenly realized what was happening, looked her up and down, and only felt relieved after making sure she was alright.
