While everyone was still chatting, Carl handed one of the balls to Gavin next to him.
Then, before anyone could react, he swallowed his own.
Ali was startled by his sudden movement and cried out in surprise.
"Boss!"
The others' expressions changed drastically, and they all looked at Carl with concern, involuntarily moving closer to Carl's sofa.
Carl calmly waved to them.
"fine."
The crystal core is about the size of a thumb. Judging from its shape and the feel of it, I thought it would be as hard as crystal.
He was prepared to choke and desperately swallow, but to his surprise, the crystal core was as if it were made of water and melted instantly in his mouth. This made Carl feel the magic of the crystal core once again.
Carl felt a surge of confidence for no apparent reason.
Perhaps, it really is possible.
The pigeon crept closer to Gavin, intending to snatch the crystal core while he was off guard.
Gavin immediately sensed his intention, glaring at him with his sharp eyes. His gray eyes seemed veiled in mist, and combined with Gavin's gloomy expression, it was rather eerie.
The pigeon raised its hands in a gesture of surrender, smiling ingratiatingly, its tone implying negotiation.
"Please let me go first."
As someone who works with computers, he knew that although China had made preparations in advance and saved one satellite, the signal had become increasingly unstable recently, and it was only a matter of time before the satellite crashed.
In the end, he will be less useful than the mutated beasts in the team.
Gavin at least knows medicine; he's the most important player on the team...
Gavin didn't reply, and instead, under the pigeon's pleading gaze, he triumphantly swallowed the crystal core.
Then she smugly showed him her empty hands.
"It's gone."
Pigeon: Damn it, my heart is about to give out.
Although...but...
The gray magpie's expression is just too irritating.
Ali stood behind the sofa where Carl was sitting, his hands clenched tightly together in nervous worry.
"Sister Xin, what... will happen next?"
"Let's wait and see if they turn into zombies or awaken superpowers."
As she spoke, Li Xin'er raised her chin, indicating that she was saying:
"Get your knife ready. If you see the corpse turn into a zombie, just kill it with one strike."
Apart from the two individuals directly involved, everyone else was even more terrified...
Li Xin'er, however, showed no sign of worry. She even had the leisure to take out tea sets, fruit, and drinks from her spatial storage and place them on the coffee table in front of her.
He brewed tea for himself, then greeted the restless crowd.
"If you don't want tea, just have a beverage. Order whatever you like, don't be shy."
The members of Warwing: ......
The pigeon kept a close eye on the time, and seeing that ten minutes had passed and the two people still remained expressionless and showed no reaction whatsoever...
Just as I was about to breathe a sigh of relief, thinking that this might be a good outcome, I saw my boss's forehead veins bulging, his face flushed, and his body begin to curl up in extreme pain.
"Boss!"
Now, everyone except Li Xin'er panicked.
Ali's eyes were red and he looked like he was about to cry; his hands were trembling.
"Boss... how are you?"
Carl felt unbearable pain in his internal organs and bones.
He's been wounded countless times in battles, big and small. It's commonplace for him to dig bullets out of his body without anesthesia; he wouldn't even flinch after being slashed.
This time, however, the pain was so intense that his body convulsed and he curled up, unable to utter a single word, which gives you an idea of just how extreme the pain was.
The golden eagle looked at Li Xin'er as if pleading for help, and asked nervously:
"Sister Xin, isn't this... bad for the boss?"
She didn't finish her sentence. Understanding his concern, Li Xin'er took a sip of tea before speaking slowly and deliberately:
"Normally, once the pain subsides, the results will follow."
No sooner had she finished speaking than Gavin, who was standing next to her, started to lash out...
The sofa wasn't very big to begin with; two people curling up wouldn't even fit.
Seeing that Carl was about to slide to the ground, Vulture and his men quickly lifted the two of them onto two single beds inside the house.
The two were writhing in excruciating pain, curled up like shrimp.
In the dead of winter, sweat soaked the entire bed sheet; you could wring water out of it.
A foul stench wafted over...
Upon smelling the odor, Vulture and his companions were quite frightened, because they subconsciously believed that only zombies smelled bad.
The tall, burly men's eyes instantly reddened, and they all stood still, not daring to go forward to check on the two men.
Ali slumped down, burying his head in his knees, clutching his hair tightly with both hands, his whole body trembling with sobs.
Li Xin'er, who had been paying close attention to the two, smiled.
Li Xin'er could tell that the two people who ate the crystal cores had similar reactions to ordinary people who drank spiritual spring water: pain, stench, and waste discharge... all exactly the same.
So, does the crystal nucleus also have the effect of cleansing the marrow and rejuvenating the essence?
Pigeon was already in tears, and he was just about to turn back to beg Li Xin'er to see if there was any other way.
Then he saw Li Xin'er smile. This smile instantly cleared his head. His pupils contracted, and after a moment of stunned silence, he rushed to the bedside.
He placed his finger under Gavin's nose, felt it for a moment, and then nearly jumped for joy.
"He's breathing! He's alive!"
Ali immediately raised his head.
The vulture was overjoyed and couldn't believe it. "Really?!"
As he spoke, he quickly reached out towards Carl on the bed next to him, but before he could even see it, Carl grabbed his wrist with an invisible speed.
