Chapter 399 Something Happened

Chu Ling was given a small plate of fruit scraps, which were left over after Xie Purou cut them and thought they didn't look good enough for displaying on the plate.

But there were still a lot of scraps left, and the more I cut, the more there were. In the end, I just packed out the scraps and served them as an appetizer for everyone.

Although it was just leftovers, everyone was very satisfied with the fruit and enjoyed it very much.

The person who felt the most satisfied when seeing everyone’s smiling faces was Xie Purou.

After cutting the fruit, the fish are almost ready.

The cruise ship stopped for an hour, the opening was closed, and it started again and continued to move forward.

Xie Pu Rou cleaned up the mess in front of her, turned on the working man mode, and quickly and efficiently packed up the fish she had raised.

He took out some crabs and shrimps and processed them together with Chu Ling and the others, chatting and laughing.

With a flick of the knife, he cut the small crab provided by the system into two halves and used the small crab to make a dish of fried crab in the typhoon shelter.

The big lobster she caught was made into baked shrimp, and the crayfish provided by the system were used to make garlic crayfish and spicy crayfish, which were cooked in two super large pots to serve so many people present.

The cooked crayfish is simmered over low heat for a while until it absorbs the flavor.

She also cooked some other sea fish, such as braised, steamed, and garlic-fried. She kept them warm and waited until they were grilled before eating them.

Fresh and delicious

She was so busy that she was sweating profusely. Even the people who were also busy picking vegetables at the side reflected that they were not doing enough work. Otherwise, why was the owner so busy and they could only help out and wait for food.

Chu Ling's hands were numb from peeling garlic, and Chu En was mincing garlic so much that the only smell in his nose was the garlic. And yet, the barbecue hadn't even started yet.

"Is the charcoal ready?" Xie Purou shouted at Qiu Kan.

Qiu Kan: "It's already been heated, you can come over and roast it!"

I don’t know if it’s because Qiu Kan’s aura is too strong or because of his status, but no one approaches him.

If Xie Pu Rou hadn't shouted, no one would have come over.

The charcoal was indeed already lit early. Qiu Kan had some skills. When Xie Purou went to check on the charcoal fire, she praised him generously: "You must have worked at the night market before, didn't you? You're an expert at lighting fires."

Qiu Kan rolled his eyes at her.

Which of these soldiers didn't go through this? Which of them didn't endure hardships?

Finally unable to hold back, Qiu Kan said, "You may have forgotten that I am also a soldier."

Xie Purou blinked: "Is the base commander also a soldier?"

"We all went through that stage, right? There can't be someone parachuted in to become the base commander, right?" Qiu Kan took the charcoal clamp and moved the charcoal that was burning perfectly in the charcoal stove to several positions.

She really forgot that the base commander also had a hard time.

"Maybe it's because of your age, I always subconsciously forget." she explained.

Qiu Kan shook his head. If he took this position at such a young age, he would suffer more.

There was no need to let everyone know about his suffering, so Qiu Kan said nothing.

Sometimes he always felt that the shop owner should be the same kind of person as him, because they were both people who took on a lot of responsibilities at a young age.

Xie Purou ran away playfully, took out a few large buckets, and together with Chu Ling, made several large buckets of fruit tea with fruits.

The barbecue went on very quickly. The person who wanted to grill fish occupied a whole stove by himself. Because grilling fish required a lot of space, with everyone's consent, he grilled three fish at a time.

While the barbecue was going on, Yue Xiwen woke up and came down. After Xie Purou finished grilling the beef and mutton skewers in her hands, she sat down at the table with Yue Xiwen.

Qiu Kan had no other friends, and he had met Yue Xiwen a few times, so it was not awkward for them to sit at the same table.

Xie Purou took some of the various grilled foods and put them on a plate, then brought them back to the table where the three of them were sitting. After sitting down, she immediately pulled Yue Xiwen over and asked her to eat this and that.

Yue Xiwen, who had just woken up, was not hungry. The smell of the charcoal-burning barbecue in front of her tempted her and awakened her appetite which was still lingering.

The guests and hosts enjoyed the meal very much, but the people at the B&B were not so happy.

The reason: None of the delicious food they had on the cruise ship was spread out.

Originally, any food Xie Pu Rou prepared would be automatically sent to the B&B, but this time she stopped it and refused to open the store automatically for the B&B.

Just kidding, she cooks all sorts of dishes and she hasn’t figured out how to run the business yet.

She felt very comfortable with the tidy B&B that was finally built and she wanted to keep it for a while longer.

A voice murmured from the side: "How strange! I clearly followed the owner's instructions to make the skewers, but why is the owner's meat crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while mine is tough."

Xie Purou heard it and glanced over. One look at the skewers and she knew what the problem was: "You brushed the oil on too late. You didn't use the oil to lock in the moisture of the meat in time."

"WC! Miracle doctor!"

"Dude, you're one of those people who always makes mistakes when copying homework in school, right?"

Just as Xie Pu Rou was eating happily, her heart suddenly started beating irregularly. The inexplicable panic made her feel very uncomfortable.

In this world, she felt panic for no reason, which meant that something big was about to happen.

But looking out, the water was calm. What could have happened? The only possibility was that it had occurred at the First Base they were about to reach.

Xie Purou's heart tightened, but she didn't disturb anyone. Instead, she instructed M80, "Adjust the cruise ship's speed to the fastest."

M80: [Okay, host.]

It was a barbecue and everyone enjoyed it very much.

Only Yue Xiwen clearly noticed that something was wrong with Xie Purou.

Yue Xiwen: "What's wrong?"

Xie Purou shook her head and said nothing, "I just feel a little sleepy. The destination is still far away, so everyone should get more rest in the next two days."

"We know. We'll definitely rest well after playing today and work harder then!"

After a simple 'team building', the unfamiliar group of people continued to eat and drink. After dark, they cleared a stove and lit a fire, then gathered around the simple bonfire, cheering and dancing in circles.

This was the most relaxing and happy day they had ever had since the apocalypse. No, not even before the apocalypse had they been this happy.

Qiu Kan sat leisurely beside him, holding a book in his hand, reading while eating.

Xie Purou asked, "Aren't you worried about the base?"

"What are you worried about?" Qiu Kan asked back.

Xie Pu Rou was speechless and couldn't say anything.

"There's nothing to worry about. Just do everything well and live in the present. Don't be overly anxious." Qiu Kan rarely enjoyed an afternoon of leisure time. If you ignore the apocalyptic environment, he felt that it was even more comfortable than a day off.

It’s not that he isn’t anxious, but years of anxiety have taught him how to adjust himself to the environment, and he will slow down when it’s time to slow down.

Yue Xiwen asked with concern: "Are you too anxious?"
