Chapter 11 Cui Lie

Chapter 11 Cui Lie

The dusk was heavy, the sky was dark, the green leaves were howling in the strong wind, and the heavy rain was pouring down, clanging against the glass windows.

In the duty room of the community guard post, seven or eight people were having a heated discussion.

"Why are we going to the residential building? Even if the people upstairs have some stored food, how can we divide it among so many of us? If they don't give us anything, do we have to rob them?" A tall young man said coldly.

"We can buy it with money." said another person unwillingly.

"Do people living in this community lack money? Do you still want to force buying and selling? Who dares to go out in this situation? Can money buy food? It is better for everyone to be self-reliant. At this time, there is no news from the government, and others are not obligated to help us." The young man said again.

"Then what do you think we should do? This is a note Wang Lin left for us. Maybe he has a solution. We are injured and sick now. If we don't rest, how can we find food? We will be killed by monsters before we find any food. Have you forgotten Xiaoli and Xue Wen who died in the convenience store?" The man who just said he wanted to take money to buy food said again.

"We have already opened the door of the convenience store and got a lot of food. We hurried back last time because we didn't have a backpack and couldn't bring back much. It will be much easier to go there now." The young man added.

"Captain, which is more important, face or life? I admit that the defensive formation you organized is very useful, but when we went to get food, our attention was distracted and the monster took advantage of the opportunity to sneak in and kill Xiaoli and Xue Wen. Now there are eight of us left and who knows who will be the next to die. Captain, you have martial arts skills, you run fast and have quick reactions, so you are naturally not afraid, but I am afraid, are you afraid too?" After hearing this, several people looked at each other, their hearts had already been shaken.

"No matter what you think, Ren Tian is my fellow villager, and I want to find him and go home together. I ate a few biscuits yesterday and haven't eaten anything all day today. The weather has been like this for the past two days, and it's dark and gloomy. I don't know when it will clear up. If I wait here all night, I'm afraid if the monster comes, I won't have the strength to run." Seeing that everyone was silent, the man said again.

"Captain, let's go find Wang Lin and the others. It's okay even if we just rest for a night." Another person advised.

"What do you mean by rest? Isn't it just begging for food?" Although the captain said it impolitely, his tone lowered involuntarily. After all, he didn't want to go out and die alone.

"Let's borrow some first, and when we're done, we can go out and find some food to return to them, right?" Several people found excuses for their actions. After discussing, they started to warm up, took their weapons, formed a formation, and headed towards the building area mentioned in Wang Lin's note.

The eight people coordinated with each other and their formation was quite neat. The trees planted in the community swayed in the shadows and low roars could be heard from time to time.

The eight people were on guard in all directions with trepidation. The screams and roars that came one after another made the dark world even more terrifying. They walked the short distance of just a hundred meters in fear, and after repelling the monsters' attacks several times, all eight of them were injured to some extent.

"Whether you're walking above ground or underground, you need to swipe your card to enter the unit door. Now there's a power outage, will the lock still work? What if it can't be opened?" said Xiao Zhang, who was walking on one side.

"At least we can still see people outside now, but it will be pitch dark in the underground garage. It will be difficult to maintain the formation then. Is there anyone who can unlock the door? If no one can, we can only break the door violently." said the captain.

As they were talking, they arrived at the door of the unit. Fortunately, the door lock was broken or not locked properly, so they opened the door smoothly. Several people walked into the building and breathed a sigh of relief.

With so many people coming in at once, the originally spacious corridor suddenly became crowded.

The young man's name is Cui Lie, and he is the captain of the security team.

At this time he reminded, "Keep in formation and pay attention to defense." Before he finished speaking, there was a scream of "Ah" from the left rear of the team, a sound of broken bones, and three pairs of blood-red eyes appeared in the darkness.

Just as Cui Lie reminded them, several people rushed to the stairs, having long forgotten about the defensive formation. The three monsters were originally hiding from the rain in the underground garage, but were attracted by the strong smell of blood on them. The corridor was narrow and they could not move around, so they could not maintain their formation and ran upstairs in panic.

Cui Lie shouted several times to form a defensive formation, but no one paid attention to him. It was dark in the corridor and even the human figures could not be seen clearly. The blood-red eyes were like a beacon, scaring everyone so much that they ran away in panic.

The monster was as fast as lightning. Cui Lie seemed to smell the stench from the monster's mouth. He quickly thrust the sturdy wooden stick in the direction of the smell. With a scream, Cui Lie took the opportunity to rush to the second floor. "Help me, help me."

At the stairs on the second floor, a monster bit a prey. Its intermittent cries for help revealed reluctance and despair. Cui Lie glanced at the blood-red eyes that were chasing him closely. After a moment of hesitation, a gust of fishy wind blew towards him. He raised his stick to block it. With a click, the stick broke. Cui Lie glanced at the broken weapon in his hand. Without hesitation, he took a few steps and caught up with the people in front.

"Captain, you are good at martial arts, you stay behind and I will go knock on the door." Several people blocked Cui Lie's way, intentionally preventing him from running ahead.

The person who spoke was the one who proposed going to the residential building. His name was Ren Cheng. He and Ren Tian were from the same village and had long been dissatisfied with Cui Lie's meddling.

Cui Lie didn't say anything. The light in the corridor was very dim. The few people who gradually adapted to the environment could barely make out some shadows, but the expressions on each person's face were invisible, so Cui Lie didn't see the fierce light that instantly flashed across Ren Cheng's face.

The monster came up very quickly, its scarlet eyes were eerie and terrifying, and the low roar from its throat seemed like a horn for an attack at any time.

Cui Lie saw that only one monster was catching up with him, and his tense heart relaxed a little.

He climbed up the stairs carefully step by step, holding the broken stick tightly to guard against the monster's attack.

The situation was at a stalemate, and suddenly there was a scream of "Ah", and the monster jumped over Cui Lie and rushed straight towards the person behind him on the left side.

Hunter Cui swung the broken wooden stick at the monster with a "snap". The monster that was hit ignored all physics and ran downstairs dragging the prey it was biting.

Although the corridor was not wide, Cui Lie alone could not block the entire corridor.

The monster thought Cui Lie was a tough guy, so he decisively looked for another target.

The bitten prey grabbed the stair railing tightly and cried out in a crying voice, "Captain, save me, I don't want to die." It was Jiang Jie's voice.

Cui Lie didn't have time to think, he picked up the stick that fell on the ground and hit the monster on the head. The monster opened its mouth and pounced on Cui Lie.

While Cui Lie was fighting with the monster, Ren Cheng and the others had already run up to the 17th floor.

"Ren Tian, are you there? Open the door quickly." The heavy and messy footsteps and hurried shouts broke the tranquility of the night.

Just after dinner, Rong Xianxian was taking her children to look at an anatomical atlas.

Hearing the voice telling Xuanxuan and Xiaoluo to read by themselves, she got up and walked out of the bedroom. The strong smell of blood made her sniff unconsciously.

There is such a strong smell of blood, it seems that someone is injured and bleeding a lot.

It should be Wang Lin’s colleagues who came over. I thought there were not many medicines at home and I didn’t know the condition of the injured people.

She put on her coat and was about to go out when she heard a "roar". It was the sound of a wolf monster. Wolf monsters usually don't act alone. How did they provoke such a guy? Rong Xianxian's face turned pale instantly.
