Before the group even reached the vicinity of the second floor, they saw the man on the second floor waving at Yuan Chuyi.
Yuan Chuyi spoke first, saying, "Brother, I came to see you."
"The door downstairs isn't locked, so please come up."
Yuan Chuyi looked at the spacious area on the first floor, which was several hundred meters wide and had a wall piled with rice and flour, as well as several large pots. It was clear that this first floor was a warehouse and a place for cooking.
The man came down from the second floor and said, "What's wrong, young man? What's wrong? Just tell me."
Before Yuan Chuyi could speak, Tang Yan covered her mouth and chuckled.
The man looked at Tang Yan with a puzzled expression, so Tang Yan quickly said, "Let me explain. We've come here to invite you to live with us."
The man scratched his head and said, "There are about twenty of us here. Can you feed us? Besides, there are too many zombies in the city. Where is there any safe place?"
I think it's not even as good as in our countryside. There are only a few zombies there, and seven or eight of us men could handle them together.
"And my son's leg is injured, so he can't move."
Tang Yan then said, "If we can cure your son's leg, would you be willing to come with us?"
Upon hearing this, the man excitedly said, "If you can cure my son, I'd go with you, even if it costs me my life. But young lady, are you telling the truth?"
"Won't we know for sure once we see your son?"
"Come with me quickly." With that, he led the group up to the second floor.
When everyone arrived on the second floor, they saw two women sitting at each end of the tenement building, observing the situation outside.
The man opened the first door at the top of the stairs and invited the group in. As they entered the room, they saw two beds in a space that was over 20 meters long.
When one of the boys in one of the beds saw someone come in, he quickly got up and asked, "Dad, who are these people?"
The man said, "These people are from the city looking for coal, but one of them is a doctor who says he can treat your leg."
The boy looked at Yuan Chuyi and the others warily and said, "You're all superhumans, right? You're here for food, aren't you?" He then sighed and said, "Take whatever you want. But please don't hurt the people here."
Zheng Shuang looked at the boy and said, "Are you a soldier?"
The boy looked at Zheng Shuang with a questioning gaze, while Zheng Shuang pointed to the photos on the wall.
The boy then realized and said, "You don't need to pretend anymore. I know all too well what people with superpowers are like."
Looking completely bewildered, Yuan Chuyi glanced at Tang Yan, puzzled. Tang Yan gave him a reassuring look and then said to the boy:
“I don’t care what kind of superhumans you’ve met before, but we are definitely not the same kind of people you think we are. I think instead of you constantly cursing those people in your heart, you should heal your leg and take revenge.”
The boy stared at Tang Yan in surprise, remaining silent for a long time. Tang Yan gestured to Yuan Chuyi with her eyes to quickly treat the boy's leg. Yuan Chuyi, realizing what was happening, slowly stepped forward and lifted the blanket.
The boy's knees looked as if they had been hit by some kind of sharp weapon; almost all of them were shattered.
The boy smiled bitterly, a mixture of helplessness and despair in his eyes, and asked, "Do you still think you can cure it this time?"
Yuan Chuyi didn't rush to treat you. Instead, he said, "I can save you, but after I heal you, you have to join my camp. What do you think?"
The boy said incredulously, "Are you sure you can really cure me? If you really can cure me, joining you is no problem, but you can't force me to do anything immoral."
Yuan Chuyi hesitated for a moment and said, "Whether something is immoral or not is not for you to judge. If you subjectively believe that killing someone is immoral or not, then you don't need to join our camp."
Seeing the awkward atmosphere, Zheng Shuang quickly added, "Actually, the principle is very simple. You just need to judge whether this person will ask you to do anything immoral or immoral."
This is the same as in the military. You think to yourself, if your superior ordered you to shoot an old lady, would you pull the trigger?
“Of course I can!” the boy replied.
Zheng Shuang asked, "Then why do you know that?"
"The officer wouldn't let me kill people randomly. If I killed her, there must be a reason."
Zheng Shuang shrugged and said, "That's settled then. What's the difference between this and now? You just need to know whether he will do something that defies all reason or law. You just need to carry out whatever he says." (pointing to Yuan Chuyi)
Wan'er pressed her advantage, saying, "In my opinion, we absolutely cannot take in a person like that into our camp. What if one day, you, the camp commander, order him to kill a woman covered in explosives, and he then subjectively believes that you are against all reason? That would put us in danger."
After thinking for a moment, the boy said, "I understand. I choose to believe you."
As a healing spell was cast on the boy, his knees began to heal at a visible speed. Within minutes, the boy tentatively placed his feet on the ground.
The boy's father, seeing that his son could walk, knelt down with a thud and began to kowtow to Yuan Chuyi.
The commotion inside the house probably alerted the other residents on the second floor, because several men rushed in carrying sticks and shouted, "Brother Zhu, why are you crying? Did these city folks bully you?"
The group of men who were about to take action quickly said, "I'm just happy." They pointed to the boy and said, "Look, Tie Dan'er's leg is healed and he can stand up again."
Tie Dan paced back and forth in the room, saying to the people who came in, "Uncle, Aunt, look, I can walk now!"
A woman said, "That's right, Tiedan can leave now, that's great!"
Zhu Zi coughed twice and said, "Since everyone is here, I have something to tell you."
As everyone already knows, these guys are from the city. They have a camp there that I'm planning to join. I'm asking if anyone is going with my son and me.
Is the camp you mentioned safe?
Do they have anything to eat?
Seeing everyone whispering and discussing amongst themselves, Yuan Chuyi said loudly, "Listen to me, everyone. My camp has several thousand people, and it's definitely much safer there than here."
Please rest assured about the food situation that everyone is worried about. We have enough food. As for the rice and flour downstairs, they will still be your private property once they reach the camp.
We also have a mission building there; we can take on missions when we have free time to replenish our supplies at home.
As soon as Yuan Chuyi finished speaking, the crowd started discussing again. After a while, a man took the lead and said, "Both Zhuzi and his father went, so I'll go too."
Then came shouts: "And our family too!"
My daughter and I are going too!
In the end, all 22 people here decided to follow Yuan Chuyi and his group to the camp.
Tie Dan suddenly said, "Can we wait a while before leaving? Brother Ping Shan hasn't come back yet."
Tie Dan looked at Yuan Chuyi and said, "Brother Pingshan is my comrade-in-arms. He's the one who saved me. He's gone hunting in the mountains now and should be back soon."
Yuan Chu nodded and said, "You all pack your belongings first, and we'll go downstairs to prepare the carriage."
