Chapter 17 Leniency for Confession

Chapter 17 Leniency for Confession

"Let's go, don't delay!" Zhu Ci took the initiative to carry the heaviest backpack, picked up Xu Zhiyang, and the three of them continued to move forward in the dusk.

As the eerie night fell, they successfully found a forest outside a bend in the highway. The trees were dense and it looked well hidden.

Zhu Ci found a tree that was in a suitable central but inconspicuous location and climbed up.

Qin Shiyu was carried on Li Huiyin's back up a tree.

Two people each found a wider branch and used it as their bed for tonight.

Zhu Ci sat with his back against the tree trunk, thought for a moment, then laid Xu Zhiyang flat, letting him rest his head on his calves.

Li Huiyin brought two mesh hammocks in the interlayer of her backpack. They didn't take up much space and could make them more comfortable to lie on when opened.

Zhu Ci tied up the hammock, put Xu Zhiyang in it, and lay on the tree branch himself. He had been trained not to move around when sleeping, so there was no need to worry about falling off the tree.

Next to the two of them were Li Huiyin and Qin Shiyu. Qin Shiyu was still young and didn't take up much space, so he and Li Huiyin slept back to back in the same hammock.

"Xiao Yu, are you still thinking about what A Yang said today?" Li Huiyin suddenly spoke in a low voice, although it still seemed a little abrupt in the quiet night.

Qin Shiyu looked through the gaps between the branches at the pitch-black darkness in the distance. "There's no moon tonight. It's too dark."

"Are you scared?"

"It was a bit scary, but luckily the solar street lights on the roadside were still on, so it wasn't that scary."

After all, Qin Shiyu is only a seven-year-old child. No matter how smart he is, at this age he should be acting like a spoiled child in his mother's arms.

Li Huiyin turned over with great effort and covered his small body with her coat. Like an adult, she patted Qin Shiyu's back gently and awkwardly.

"It's okay, we're here with you."

At this moment, Qin Shiyu realized that although Sister Li looked carefree and like a boy, it turned out that she also had two sides.

This girl is actually very gentle.

Qin Shiyu was a little touched and whispered, "Actually, I have hidden a lot of things from you."

"We know." Zhu Ci answered in a low voice and was about to take a coat to cover himself, but when he stood up, he saw the boy still sleeping in the hammock.

This dark green coat still fell on Xu Zhiyang.

Zhu Ci was about to withdraw his hand, but Xu Zhiyang suddenly opened his eyes and saw the face so close to him. Xu Zhiyang was so scared that his pupils suddenly shrank and he reached out to push him out.

"What are you crazy about?!" Zhu Ci growled, grabbing Xu Zhiyang's wrist and pressing it above his head, making him unable to move.

Xu Zhiyang's eyes gradually regained clarity. He shook his head and saw that it was Zhu Ci. He apologized, "I'm sorry. I just pushed you subconsciously. I didn't mean to push you."

Hearing the noise, Li Huiyin sat up and said in surprise, "Xu Xiaoyang! You're awake!"

Xu Zhiyang smiled at Li Huiyin, then remembered something and looked apologetic. "Are you hurt? Did the dark personality attack you?"

"Dark personality?" Zhu Ci stared at Xu Zhiyang, "It seems you know the existence of the second personality."

Seeing that there was no need to hide it any longer, Xu Zhiyang admitted: "Yes, I know."

Zhu Ci was a little unhappy, "It seems that two people are going to confess tonight."

Xu Zhiyang pushed Zhu Ci away, rubbed her wrist, and smiled coldly, "Everyone has secrets. Doesn't Mr. Zhu also have a mission? I kept it a secret from Huiyin because I didn't want her to worry about me. I didn't tell you because we need to cooperate with you."

"If you had known the day we met that I had a potentially dangerous personality, you would definitely not have come with us. For your own benefit, it's not impossible to hide some things."

Xu Zhiyang reached out and lightly slapped the tree trunk, forcing a tree thud. "Besides, Mr. Zhu has more secrets than me, right?"

Seeing that he guessed correctly, Zhu Ci was not at all panicked. Instead, he reached out and grabbed Xu Zhiyang's chin to move him away.

Qin Shiyu pushed his glasses and said, "It's wrong of me to hide it from everyone. I will be honest, but I won't force you brothers and sisters to tell the secret. Everyone has secrets. As long as it doesn't harm our collective interests, it doesn't matter if you don't tell us."

Xu Zhiyang raised an eyebrow at Zhu Ci provocatively, "I will explain my story clearly, but Mr. Zhu's secret should be a state secret, right?"

Zhu Ci looked at him without saying a word.

"I'm understanding, so Mr. Zhu doesn't need to say anything." Xu Zhiyang turned around and lay back on the hammock, explaining the whole story in a low voice.

"Huiyin should also know that I talked to myself the day after I received the Five Elements Energy. That was when I discovered that there was another clone of myself inside my body."

"He said he was my dark side, that he wanted to go against me, and that he was irritable and ruthless. He usually stayed dormant, and only appeared that day when I was nearly swallowed by a mutant centipede."

"When I killed the mutant centipede, Ah Yang took control of my body. I was conscious at the time, and I discovered that when Ah Yang appeared, the Five Elements Energy in my body actually reached the third level!"

Hearing this, Zhu Ci looked at Xu Zhiyang with surprise in his eyes for the first time without concealing it.

The other two also exclaimed in surprise, and Qin Shiyu asked anxiously, "Brother Xu, are you sure it's level three? Originally, your energy was incredibly powerful, like a cheat, but it's temporarily restrained by level zero. But if Ah Yang shows up, your energy will reach level three, which is really... too terrifying..."

"I'm sure his ability is at the third level. He can easily suppress Huiyin and prevent her from using her gold energy with just a simple raise of his hand."

Xu Zhiyang was actually a little scared. "If he really wanted to kill you one day, it would only take a flick of his finger."

"Then do you know how to suppress Ayang and prevent him from appearing?" Qin Shiyu asked.

Xu Zhiyang shook his head, "I don't know, but maybe my brother will have a way when we get to the imperial capital."

After hearing Xu Zhiyang's confession, everyone fell silent.

After a long while, Xu Zhiyang broke the silence, "How about this, I'll leave early tomorrow and walk ahead of you. Huiyin, you follow Mr. Zhu. Together you and him should be able to reach the imperial capital safely."

"I won't!" Li Huiyin refused without thinking.

"I'm not afraid of Ah Yang. I came out with you, so I'm going to follow you. I advise you to give up the idea of leaving quietly as soon as possible. This isn't a novel or a TV show, so don't do anything childish!"

Xu Zhiyang: “…”

What's the matter with feeling a little touched and a little wanting to beat someone up?

"Brother Xu should stay. Don't look at things one-sidedly." Qin Shiyu's smile was very healing. "Although Brother Xu's dark personality is moody, his fighting ability is also first-class. The journey north is bound to be dangerous. With Ayang's presence, the benefits outweigh the disadvantages for us."

The attitudes of the two people have been made clear, except for a certain cold-faced gentleman.

Noticing the gazes of the three people, Zhu Ci raised his eyes and looked quietly at Xu Zhiyang.

"I never meant to kick you out."
