Chapter 5 Building a House and Stockpiling Goods

Hot water bottles, thermos flasks, electric blankets, mini heaters—all kinds of warm items are essential; buy 100 of each.

100 electric fans, disposable lunch boxes, chopsticks, and other items.

20 laptops and 20 tablets were ordered, and customer service was required to download all of them with TV series, movies, and other entertainment programs.

During this time, I was also busy, stockpiling up all sorts of supplies that had been missed.

The delivery address filled in is Warehouse No. 1 in Area A.

The first thing I do every morning is go to the hardware market to buy 10 sets of generators, tools, electrical equipment, water pipes, and other products of various models, and deliver them to warehouse number 4 in area A.

When we returned to Area A, the houses in Shichang Village were almost finished being built.

The main gate of the courtyard was replaced with a blast-proof door and fitted with a security lock.

Hidden high-definition surveillance cameras were installed around the walls and houses.

There's a well in the yard; it's not just for drawing water, but also helps to increase natural light in the basement. (From the design team)

There are two types of indoor electricity: one is ordinary residential electricity, and the other is a backup power source, a self-provided generator.

The underground entrance is to the east of the living room, and the interior also features a one-bedroom, one-living room, one-kitchen, and one-bathroom design, just like the one built above.

As expected of Neptune Construction & Decoration Company, this shelter can be described as perfect.

Xiao Mu smiled and teased Jiang Yao, "Miss Jiang, what do you think? These were all built according to your wishes."

Jiang Yao smiled gently and said, "I have to thank our architect Xiao for giving me such a perfect house."

At this point, there were less than two weeks left until the end of the world.

Jiang Yao is busy every day, running between various warehouses to collect supplies.

There are 5 days left until the end of the world.

We began our preparations for the trial operation of the warehouse supermarket in Zone B.

On the second day of the trial operation, the temperature suddenly dropped and the streets were deserted.

Even wearing a down jacket, I felt cold outside. So I decided to leave work early.

Jiang Yao stored all the supermarket's goods into her spatial storage, turned around, and drove to the dock.

There were tankers carrying gasoline and diesel fuel docked there, but they couldn't be moved because of the sudden arrival of extreme cold.

When Jiang Yao arrived at the dock, even her thick down jacket couldn't keep out the biting cold.

They quickly connected to the metal drums in the space to transfer gasoline and diesel fuel as fast as possible. Even after filling all the drums, only one-fifth of the ship's gasoline and diesel fuel had been transported.

He then drove home without stopping.

I'll stay home for the rest of the time and not go anywhere; that way I can live a life of ease and comfort.

Just then, a cold wave warning was broadcast on TV, and I used the wood I had collected in the Gorgun Mountains to start a fire to keep warm.

The phone rang, showing it was Xiao Mu calling.

"Hello! This is Jiang Yao."

A deep voice came from the other end of the phone, as intoxicating as the person himself: "Ms. Jiang, hello. I received reliable information from a friend that this cold wave is unusual."

"You should try to stock up on as much food and supplies as possible."

"Okay, thank you, Mr. Xiao."

"Yes, you can tell me if you encounter any difficulties."

Mr. Xiao is so attentive to every customer.

She shook her head, realizing she was probably overthinking things.

Temperatures are still dropping rapidly, and the prolonged cooling has pushed the city's heating systems to their limits.

Some people are still at home waiting for rescue, and the temperature outside continues to drop.

Some people remembered the heated brick beds in the countryside and brought their whole families back to the countryside.

Some of the people from Shichang Village who had gone out to work have returned.

The fire in the stove is burning brightly, just right for simmering a pot of old hen soup.

A bowl of hot soup is wonderful in the cold winter.

The village loudspeaker is announcing that due to the cold wave, many high-voltage power lines have been broken, and the power company is preparing to cut off the power. The village is organizing young people to go to the nearest supermarket to buy necessities.

A major power outage meant there would be unrest, so for safety, Jiang Yao got herself all dirty and followed everyone to buy daily necessities.

No one knows when this cold wave will end; all we can do is pray that it will all be over soon!

Upon arriving at the nearest supermarket, Jiang Yao only bought some food and water as a token purchase; her purpose for coming today was to buy something for self-defense.

Jiang Yao wanted to buy pepper spray, but it wasn't sold in supermarkets, so she could only try her luck at a pharmacy.

Although wearing many layers of clothing keeps you warm, walking in the cold wind is still somewhat inconvenient.

The pharmacy is almost out of medicine?

I asked the store clerk and learned that people were stockpiling supplies because they were worried about the pharmacies closing due to the impending large-scale power outage.

When I bought pepper spray, I saw a whole box of BYt in the counter. It's a great product; it can be filled with water and can also be used as a tourniquet.

After asking the shop assistant and buying the items, it was already dark when I returned to the village.

When I got home, I really didn't want to move; I was too tired.
