Chapter 75 The Secret of the Laboratory Building 2

There was an inconspicuous groove at the bottom of the hibernation chamber. Sang You tentatively put his hand in, and when he took it out, there was a layer of light yellow filamentous material on his hand, which looked a bit like spider silk.

So he crouched down and looked at the bottom of the hibernation pods. It turned out that the bottoms of the two hibernation pods were different; the bottom of one of the hibernation pods was normal.

There was a groove on the bottom of his own machine. Sang You squatted down and pressed hard on the groove, making a click.

The bottom of the hibernation pod was opened, revealing several vials of medicine and a piece of paper inside.

After reading the contents of the paper, Sang You's expression immediately turned grim.

It turns out that this experimental building was not the main experimental building, but one of its branches. As for the content on the paper, it roughly means that the experimental subjects in the hibernation pods began to show signs of being uncontrollable by drugs shortly after the natural disaster began.

During the replacement of the hibernation chamber, an operational error resulted in the accidental injury of a staff member, causing the experimental subject to escape.

Just as they were about to destroy the other test subjects, genetically mutated spiders appeared in the laboratory building. Only then did they realize that the experimental reagents had already been leaked.

They eventually managed to seal off the building, but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful.

Sang You is now certain that the experimental subject in the hibernation pod is not in the AAS area, otherwise it wouldn't have remained hidden for so long.

Thinking of the genetically mutated spiders still inside the building, Sang You anxiously asked Zhu Hezheng, "Where are they?!"

Zhu Hezheng assumed that Sang You had sent people to move things, and slowly said, "Well, I had them go upstairs to investigate."

Sang You instructed, "If they don't return within an hour, immediately send people to search for them and prepare for evacuation."

Zhu Hezheng followed closely behind Sang You and asked, "Did you discover something?"

Sang You feared he was overthinking things; after all, so much time had passed, even if there were still spiders, they couldn't have lived this long.

With his back to Zhu Hezheng, he waved his hand and said, "Maybe I'm overthinking it."

After saying that, he took out the two vials of medicine that Jiang Yao had given him before she left, and put them into the machine along with the medicine that Xiao Mu had given him. He also put in the medicine that he had just obtained, and then started the detection, analysis of ingredients, and measurement detection buttons.

When Wang Shiqi saw Zhu Hezheng arranging for Jiang Yao and Xiao Mu to go and investigate the figures leaving upstairs, her jealousy was almost overflowing, and even her gaze towards Zhu Hezheng was filled with dissatisfaction.

When the group arrived on the second floor, the thick layer of dust on the ground indicated that no living creatures had been there. However, for safety's sake, they still searched the upper floors.

However, as she walked down, Jiang Yao noticed something strange.

When they first went up to the second floor, there were clearly only four people, and there were four footprints on the ground at first, but after walking around, there were only three footprints left.

Looking towards the third-floor stairwell, there were also three sets of footprints. Does this mean that someone had already disappeared when they first went upstairs?

Jiang Yao picked up the walkie-talkie and said to Zhu Hezheng, "Everything is normal upstairs."

"How's it downstairs?"

Zhu Hezheng breathed a sigh of relief when he heard that everything was normal after Jiang Yao and the others finished their investigation: "The downstairs area is normal."

Jiang Yao, Xiao Mu, and the others exchanged glances, their expressions not very pleasant.

Zhu Hezheng said it was normal, without mentioning who went down first, and the second floor instantly became quiet.

Wait, be quiet.

The quiet space reminded Jiang Yao of Shen Zhijie. Shen Zhijie, who was usually the most talkative, hadn't said a word the whole time, which was very unusual.

Jiang Yao turned around and shone her flashlight on everyone's faces, but Shen Zhijie was nowhere to be seen.

Xiao Mu and the others looked behind them warily and realized that one person was indeed missing.

They didn't know when the guns went missing. Everyone pointed their guns at the empty second floor, their muscles tense, as if afraid something might suddenly appear from some corner.

Xiao Mu narrowed his eyes and shone the flashlight in his hand around.

Some people couldn't believe it. In such a quiet environment, without making a sound, a living person had just disappeared!

Jiang Yao felt somewhat puzzled. How could Shen Zhijie, with his intelligence, make a mistake in judgment and fall into the trap?

Xiao Mu looked at the footprints on the ground and began to search.

Jiang Yao followed the footprints to search for Shen Zhijie, but as she walked, the footprints stopped here and then disappeared.

Jiang Yao looked around and, seeing nothing, nervously shone her powerful flashlight upwards.

Looking up, I was met with a sight that made my scalp tingle; it turned out that no one had ever been here before.

Instead, no one ever made it out alive; the ceiling was covered with dense cocoons made of spider silk.

Jiang Yao gestured for Xiao Mu and the others to come over. When they saw the scene on the roof, they all gasped – such a huge cocoon!

How big must that spider be?!

The three of them used a human ladder to lift Jiang Yao up.

He raised his hand and used his sword to cut open the cocoon. Shen Zhijie fell heavily to the ground, ripped the spider silk off his mouth, and cursed, "You dare to fish me out? I'll burn you all to the ground!"

Upon hearing Shen Zhijie's words, everyone began shining their high-powered flashlights around the ceiling. Shen Zhijie waved his hand and said, "No need to shine them anymore, it's not here now."

"If I were still alive, I would have turned into a dried-up corpse long ago."

"They might have already turned into skeletons outside."

"By the way, how did you find out I was missing?"

Everyone looked at Shen Zhijie with a wicked grin, thinking, "Who knew you could attract a female spider!"

Jiang Yao glanced at Shen Zhijie and replied emotionlessly, "It just feels too quiet."

Shen Zhijie never imagined that he, a handsome but not frivolous young man, would be seen as a chatterbox by you.
