After seeing the spider retreat and stop chasing in the rearview mirror, Zhu Hezheng began to feel fortunate that Jiang Yao and the others were covering him from behind.
Wang Shiqi, however, had a different opinion when she saw the retreating spider.
Why wasn't Jiang Yao captured by the spider when they were in the lab building?
If Jiang Yao knew how much Wang Shiqi thought of her, she would probably personally escort her to meet the Spider King and attend the matchmaking banquet!
After closing the rear window of the RV, Shen Zhijie took the fat cat from Jiang Yao's arms and said while petting the cat, "Do you think I'm that easy to please, Grandpa?"
The fat cat cooperated, meowing twice in response.
No one mentioned Shen Zhijie's embarrassing incident anymore.
After this trip, everyone got along more and more naturally. Sang You was no longer taciturn and gradually began to get used to everyone's occasional jokes.
The temperature outside the car is still gradually dropping, reaching 27°C, which is a comfortable temperature for everyone. Even long-distance driving won't cause too much discomfort for people and cars.
After all, they've driven in high temperatures before, and not only could the people not stand it, but the vehicles couldn't either. But things are different now.
On the way, they passed the farmhouse again, and Zhu and Zheng suggested that they stop there tonight to rest and reorganize.
As temperatures return to normal, the farm has begun to show signs of green life, but it's unclear how long this greenery will last.
Seeing that Shen Zhijie had begun to adapt to the routine of filling the RV with gas and water whenever he stopped, Jiang Yao emptied the sewage tank and reinstalled it. Then, Jiang Yao took Shen Zhijie's cat and prepared to go to the farmhouse with Xiao Mu again to take a look, as there might have been something they had overlooked last time.
This time, Shen Zhijie wisely refrained from following.
Seeing the two heading towards the house, Wang Shiqi called out, "Xiao Mu, wait for me!"
"I'll go with you."
Zhu Hezheng and the others simply shook their heads at this, since love is a matter of personal freedom, and no one could say anything about it.
The three entered the house. They remembered seeing a potted plant, but it was now empty, as if the plant had never been there.
Looking at the spider webs in the house, Jiang Yao felt that the spider spirit must have made this place its home.
Upon reaching the second floor, the stench of decay had disappeared, though there seemed to be quite a few cobwebs.
Looking at the spider web in front of her and the two people walking ahead, Wang Shiqi had a feeling that Jiang Yao was the spider demon who led Xiao Mu to the Spider Cave.
The fat cat had no idea where it had gone the moment it entered the house.
Wang Shiqi brushed the cobwebs off the door, opened it, and went inside. The corpse on the bed had become a pupa wrapped in spider silk.
Jiang Yao frowned upon seeing the scene before her. Had the place already been taken over by spiders?
Seeing this, Wang Shiqi stepped back. She noticed that the spider web on the third room looked like it had been snagged by something. Without warning, she opened the door, and the fat cat behind the door jumped up in fright and let out a startled meow.
This startled Wang Shiqi, who was caught off guard.
Xiao Mu and Jiang Yao rushed over upon hearing the noise and found Wang Shiqi sitting on the ground, while the fat cat sat on the ground licking its paws.
Wang Shiqi glared angrily at the fat cat and said to Xiao Mu, "Xiao Mu, look at this cat! It'll destroy anything in this room."
Jiang Yao said coldly, "This is its home. I don't think anyone knows better than it what it can and can't move." She walked in, picked up the fat cat, and said, "Look at what it's running around in." She even pretended to hit the fat cat. "Aren't you afraid of scaring yourself?" After saying that, she petted the cat, turned around, and left downstairs.
Wang Shiqi had never suffered like this before, and looked at Xiao Mu with slightly red eyes.
Seeing Jiang Yao turn and leave, Xiao Mu glanced coldly at Wang Shiqi on the ground, clicked his tongue, and turned to leave.
Wang Shiqi had never been treated like this before, but seeing the empty room in front of her, she still got up and went downstairs.
When Jiang Yao returned to the RV, the wind started to pick up outside.
Early in the morning, Zhu Hezheng's voice came through the walkie-talkie. It turned out that fog had started to rise sometime during the night, and the thick fog outside had reduced visibility.
Zhu Hezheng turned on the hazard lights, worried that Jiang Yao and the others' car wouldn't be able to keep up, so he repeatedly emphasized that they must keep up. After Xiao Mu started the car, they caught up with the lead car and drove away.
After driving for more than three hours, everyone felt like someone was talking outside the RV. Shen Zhijie gently pulled Jiang Yao's sleeve.
Did you hear that?
"It sounds like someone is talking outside the car."
Zhu Hezheng also heard the voices from inside the car, and Wang Shiqi hid in a corner, somewhat frightened.
Jiang Yao's voice came through the walkie-talkie. It turned out that not only they heard the voices, but Jiang Yao and the others also heard them.
"It's me, open the door!" the voice came again.
Upon hearing this, Shen Zhijie instinctively shivered.
This feels like I've entered Ghost Valley. It's me again, open the door!
Unable to bear the mental strain any longer, Wu Han, who was in Zhu Hezheng's car, opened the door, got out, and shouted, "Who is it? Come out!" He then fired a warning shot into the air.
After a while, Wu Han screamed and then fell silent.
After hearing the gunshots, Jiang Yao and the others contacted Zhu and asked what was happening in front of them.
Even Zhu Hezheng, who had experienced many big events, was now somewhat bewildered. He couldn't see anything clearly in the thick fog, but after getting out of the car and taking a few steps, he disappeared after a wisp of fog passed by.
This immediately put Zhu Hezheng on alert; there might be something hidden inside the thick fog.
He replied over the walkie-talkie, "The gunshot just now was fired by Wu Han."
"But the person disappeared in the blink of an eye."
