He Rui patted Shen Zhijie's shoulder lightly, looked in the direction of Shen Yu, and said, "How about I send you back to Haizhou, and you can lead a few of us to have a picnic without fear of death?"
Shen Zhijie stared intently into He Rui's eyes. How come he hadn't noticed before that He Rui liked to joke around so much!
Could it be that he was disciplined by the strict and repressive lifestyle of the military?
Thinking about He Rui's past and present, Shen Zhijie felt that he was really not suited for military life.
Jiang Yao realized she had underestimated the man's naivety, but Xiao Mu didn't seem to pay much attention to their conversation.
As the temperature returned to normal, the surrounding open space began to feel like springtime, with the grass and trees once again signaling the arrival of spring.
This is also the best time for wild vegetables to grow. Jiang Yao put on her backpack and walked towards the open space.
Xiao Mu watched Jiang Yao's retreating figure, his eyebrows slightly raised, his dark eyes filled with admiration for her.
Shen Zhijie followed Xiao Mu's gaze and looked ahead, asking the question that had been buried in his heart, "Why are you so concerned about her?"
"Do you like it?"
Xiao Mu simply turned around and looked into Shen Zhijie's eyes, then asked him a serious question, "Do you have feelings for me? Why are you paying so much attention to me?"
Shen Zhijie?
I didn't say anything wrong!
He misunderstood, okay?
He Rui walked over, put his arm around Shen Zhijie's shoulder, and comforted him, "I've told you a hundred times before, don't bark like a dog, don't bark like a dog, and look what happened, you got scolded."
Shen Zhijie realized that He Rui was born to contradict him. "It has to be Sang Ze! You dog brother."
Sangze looked at the two of them and asked, "Are you calling me or scolding me?"
He Rui couldn't stand these two idiots anymore, so she turned around and went to find Xiao Mu.
Shen Yu looked at the group picking wild vegetables and said to Jiang Sheng beside her, "You said you've been to the AAS area. Are those monsters really that scary?"
Jiang Sheng, with a sinister look in his eyes, said to Shen Yu in order to get her to take him and his family to Haizhou: "It's not scary. With the help of Jiang Yao and the others, that monster will be easy to catch."
Shen Yu looked at Jiang Sheng with admiration. During the snake attack, Shen Yu had been very impressed with the calm and collected way Jiang Yao and the others handled the situation. It was just a pity that they could not be used by him.
Jiang Yao packed the selected wild vegetables into her backpack, and used the backpack as a cover to store some of the vegetables in her personal space. The rest would be used for dinner tonight.
Back in the car, Jiang Yao prepared to make a cold dish with the wild vegetables, and then distributed the steamed buns she had brought to the group, taking a simple bite herself.
He Rui felt that Shen Zhijie and Xiao Mu were so lucky to have Jiang Yao, who had such good cooking skills, as a teammate. He wanted a teammate like that too.
Even if Jiang Yao doesn't team up with me, it's fine, as long as she's not that idiot Wang Shiqi anymore.
Sang Ze ate the steamed bun in his hand, praising Jiang Yao and declaring that he would be included in any missions Jiang Yao would take in from now on. He said that how many points she earned was no longer important; good food was the real deal.
Sang You never imagined that Sang Ze would abandon the brotherly bond they had built over many years just for a bite to eat.
But Sang You was still happy for his brother because he had a friend like Jiang Yao.
The night passed peacefully.
Nuoyi's tone of voice when speaking to Jiang Sheng started to change in the morning.
Jiang Yao felt strange, because Nuoyi looked down on everyone except his master Shen Yu, including his twin brother.
I don't know what tricks Jiang Sheng used yesterday to convince Shen Yu to give him an important position.
Sure enough, Nuoyi's status has begun to decline significantly.
Shen Zhijie was surprisingly calm this time, which made Jiang Yao wonder if he had given Jiang Sheng some advice.
Before setting off, Jiang Sheng came to Jiang Yao's car and greeted the others with a beaming smile.
He stopped in front of Jiang Yao and said in the tone of an elder lecturing a junior, "Jiang Yao, I don't care how powerful you were in the AAS district before, you must hand over the experimental subject you captured this time to me."
Jiang Yao found it somewhat amusing that she had to hand over the experimental subject she had captured to Jiang Sheng.
Shen Zhijie was truly astounded; he had never seen such a shameless family. He crossed his arms and chuckled, "What, is it that thick-skinned people are all in your family?"
"Why should we hand over the experimental subjects we captured to you?!"
All eyes turned to Jiang Sheng, and whispers began to circulate among them.
Jiang Sheng didn't care about the way they looked at him. Now that he had Shen Yu as his powerful backer, he wasn't afraid of these people.
A half-smile crept into Jiang Yao's dark eyes as she raised her arm and waved, "Let's go, get in the car and let's go." She acted as if she'd never seen Jiang Sheng before.
Jiang Yao's actions left Shen Zhijie and the others confused. Was Jiang Yao really going to hand over the experimental subject to him? Filled with doubt, the group got into the car with Jiang Yao and drove away.
Jiang Sheng's eyes were bloodshot, filled with gloom. He stared intently at the car that Jiang Yao and the others had driven away, and a cold smile slowly curled at the corner of his mouth. Anyone who saw it instantly felt a chill.
When the car drove back to the spot where they had met the homeless person at night, the sky was once again shrouded in thick fog. Because of their previous experience, Jiang Yao and the others did not get out of the car no matter what happened at night.
Early in the morning, Jiang Sheng, unaware of the situation, was persuaded by Nuoyi to ask the convoy to stay there for another day. To those who were unaware, this meant that more people would go missing during the night.
Jiang Sheng and Nuoyi approached Jiang Yao and the others. Jiang Sheng instructed them, "To avoid any mistakes tonight, Jiang Yao and He Rui are required to take night duty."
