Chapter 97 Running Wild Boar Meat

Looking at the green mountains and fields, Sang Ze turned to He Rui behind him and asked, "Do you think there are still wild rabbits here now?"

He Rui, Jiang Yao, and the others were taken aback by Sang Ze's idea.

A hint of shock appeared in Shen Zhijie's eyes as he said, "That's right! Now that spring has returned, there should be at least one or two wild rabbits or pheasants!"

Seeing their facial expressions, Xiao Mu guessed what they were thinking and said to them, "Do you all remember what we're doing right now?"

"Hurry up and take a rest!"

Shen Zhijie frowned and cleared his throat: "I should be fine!"

Jiang Yao looked at Shen Zhijie in the rearview mirror and said seriously, "You can go if you want, we'll just wait for you here."

"As for whether you can catch the rabbit or get caught by the Jade Rabbit Spirit, that's between the two of you."

Jiang Yao's words instantly reminded Shen Zhijie of the unpleasant incident in the laboratory building.

Sang Ze recalled the last time he asked Shen Zhijie about the spider demon. Shen Zhijie had looked at him with cold eyes, and the thought of it now sent chills down his spine.

The sudden silence made Jiang Yao feel a little uneasy. She turned on the car's music player, and a Japanese song by Mika Nakashima started playing.

As the music started, the group, who had been engaged in fierce battles for several days, began to drift off to sleep.

Soon, Jiang Yao drove the car out under He Rui's direction.

Xiao Mu and Sang Ze relieved Jiang Yao and He Rui to rest. The two only had a short break when the car stopped to refuel, and the rest of the time was spent on the road.

Shen Yu's car stopped the moment it left the mountainous area. It turned out that the fuel tank alarm had gone off. There was no other way but to stop on the side of the road and wait for the fuel truck behind the group to catch up.

Xiao Mu glanced at their gas tank and pulled over to the side of the road. Jiang Yao noticed that Xiao Mu had stopped and got up to ask, "Are you out of gas?"

After checking the fuel gauge, Sang Ze replied, "Yes, it's Shen Yu and the others' car that ran out of gas."

Xiao Mu took out a cigarette, lit it, took a light drag, and slowly exhaled a clear white smoke. "After Shen Yu finishes refueling, we'll go refuel too."

Jiang Yao knew what Xiao Mu was thinking, so she didn't say anything more and continued to rest with her eyes closed.

When Nuoyi saw the gas truck coming up behind them, he and Nuofan stopped their car and started refueling. The cars that came up behind them all waited by the roadside to refuel.

Since Jiang Yao and her group were leading the way this time, the rest of the convoy learned a valuable lesson: refuel the car as soon as you stop.

Otherwise, once the car in front starts moving, it really doesn't care about the cars behind. If you don't have gas, you can only watch everyone else drive away while you wait on the side of the road for the tanker truck behind you.

When Jiang Sheng was in the mountains, he suffered a loss because he didn't have enough gas. Fortunately, the gas truck couldn't go fast on the roads in the mountainous area due to its weight, so it was always at the back of the truck, which is why Jiang Sheng wasn't abandoned in the mountains.

After resting for a while, Jiang Yao and the others set off again.

The journey was much safer, with no more experimental subjects suddenly rushing out to attack the convoy, and the convoy gradually began to lower its guard.

At night, a faint howl suddenly came from deep in the mountains.

Jiang Yao looked out the car window at the depths of the mountains and felt a vague unease.

Xiao Mu turned on the RV's headlights, and he and Jiang Yao got up and went outside. Standing behind Jiang Yao, Xiao Mu looked into the distance and said slowly, "It seems we have to continue our journey."

Nuoyi had been secretly watching Jiang Yao and the others' movements. When he saw them start their car and prepare to leave, he quickly woke up Nuofan and drove after them.

The sound of the car starting woke everyone who was still asleep.

Listening to the shouts coming from the mountains outside the window, Jiang Yao felt that the sounds were getting closer and closer to them, and subconsciously told Xiao Mu to drive faster.

Soon, a thunderous roar came from the vicinity of the mountains. Jiang Yao and Shen Zhijie looked back through their binoculars and saw that the wild boar herd was heading in their direction.

For a moment, Shen Zhijie felt as if he were seeing a group of pork running towards him. He excitedly told Jiang Yao, "The pork is here."

"And it's pure, natural wild pork, how about that?"

Jiang Yao glanced at the herd of wild boars outside the car, somewhat tempted. Seeing that Jiang Yao was starting to show interest, Shen Zhijie sat down next to her and continued to persuade her, "I think we should take some before they mutate."

Jiang Yao closed her eyes and ignored Shen Zhijie's pleas for what he wanted to say.

Suddenly, Xiao Mu in front slammed on the brakes, startling Jiang Yao and the others awake.

"What's going on?!" Shen Zhijie asked, rubbing his lower back.

"There's no road ahead."

He Rui walked forward and saw that the road was blocked by a landslide.

Shen Yu was nearly knocked out of her hand by Nuofan's sudden stop.

Upon seeing this, Nuoyi hurriedly came over to report: "The lead car suddenly braked; something must have happened up ahead."

"I'll go take a look right now."

Nuoyi came to the front and looked at the rocks in front of him. He had no choice but to call everyone to clear the rocks away. While everyone was working, Jiang Yao quietly walked towards the mountainside by the roadside.

As she walked along the mountain path, Jiang Yao left markers along the way, carefully observing her surroundings, afraid that her sudden appearance might disturb the wild boar herd.

A humming sound came from the side of the dense grass. Jiang Yao looked over carefully and thought, "Ha, it really takes a lot of effort to get this!"

Jiang Yao carefully took out the corn laced with sleeping pills from her spatial storage and gently sprinkled it on the ground. Now it was just a matter of time.

The moment Jiang Yao left, Xiao Mu knew she must have gone back to find the wild boar herd, so when Shen Zhijie asked, Xiao Mu simply replied, "To be with your pure and natural self."

When Jiang Yao saw the wild boar approach Yimili, she first carefully observed her surroundings and waited for more than ten minutes before starting to eat.

Jiang Yao glanced at the watch on her wrist, silently chanting "down, down, down" in her mind.

Finally, as the first wild boar fell, the others followed suit. Haha, it really is all natural!

It only collapsed after eating so much of my specially seasoned corn.

After storing all the wild boars in her spatial storage, Jiang Yao hummed a tune as she walked back along the path she had carefully memorized.

As they approached the convoy, Jiang Yao released the wild boars she had captured from her spatial storage. After setting up the scene, she took out her gun and fired two shots at the two wild boars on the ground.

The sound quickly reached the convoy.

Xiao Mu knew that Jiang Yao had returned, and said to Shen Zhijie, who was watching the commotion beside him, "Hurry up and go, your pork is here."

Without hesitation, Shen Zhijie was the first to rush towards the direction of the gunfire. With Shen Zhijie leading the way, everyone else ran towards the place where the gunfire had occurred.

When they saw the two wild boars on the ground, everyone stared wide-eyed, because they hadn't eaten meat, let alone fresh meat, in a long time.

No one remembered asking where the wild boar came from; everyone was only focused on the wild boar meat. They processed and butchered the boar on the spot and brought it back to the convoy.
