Chapter 17 Never experienced the harsh realities of society

When Nan Xiangwan got home, his younger brother was already awake and was listlessly staring blankly.

"Brother, when did you wake up? Are you hungry? Do you want to eat?"

Nan Haochen looked up at his sister and said with self-reproach, "Sister, am I really useless? I didn't even dare to kill zombies, and I even threw up all day."

Nan Xiangwan patted her brother's head and said soothingly, "It's normal to be afraid to do it. Don't blame yourself. Everyone needs a transition period. Once you get used to it, it won't be like this anymore. But I don't give you much time. After all, reality won't allow you to be hypocritical for too long, understand?"

"Yeah, I understand. Only when we become strong can we avoid being bullied."

"Yes, that's the truth. But with my sister here, no one can bully us. Okay, let's eat something. What do you want to eat?"

"I want porridge, not rice porridge."

"Okay, let's have some Eight Treasure Porridge. Drink it and then go to sleep. We still need to go out tomorrow morning, but there are only a limited number of zombies in our community, so we may have to go out and take a look."

"Okay, I'll get over it."

Nan Xiangwan took out the eight-treasure porridge, handed it to her younger brother, and went back to her room to take a bath.

Thinking that the extreme heat would soon be over, but the extreme cold would be the real cause of widespread death, the thought was exhausting. These days would last for another six months, and once they were over, they would have to leave immediately. Their villa was near the mountains, and after the extreme cold passed, it would become a dangerous place, because no one would have imagined that in the apocalypse, not only had people mutated, but even animals and plants could kill people.

After taking a shower, I started to train my special abilities. Although there was no crystal core upgrade, I could still upgrade them slowly, just at a slower pace.

She couldn't sit idly by and wait for her fate; she was ready for a major battle at any moment.

The next morning, before dawn, Nan Xiangwan woke up her younger brother and they set off.

This time they did not stay in the villa, but drove directly to the suburbs in an SUV.

"Sister, where are we going?"

"Go check out the nearby shops; you can now buy things for free."

"Really?"

"Yeah, but we can only look around. We definitely can't go to the city center."

"Why?"

"Because densely populated areas mean more zombies. With our current fighting strength, we can only protect ourselves. If we really encounter a horde of zombies, we can only run for our lives."

After hearing his sister's words, Nan Haochen trembled at the thought of a group of zombies chasing after him. He couldn't bear to think about it; it was terrifying.

"Brother, sit tight, there are zombies ahead, let's rush over."

"good."

Nanxiang floored the accelerator, sending the zombie flying, and then sped away.

The car didn't stop until it reached the nearby commercial street.

"Brother, get off the car and follow me closely. There should be a lot of zombies here. You have to be careful, okay?"

"Yeah, don't worry, sister. I'm not as scared as I was yesterday. In fact, I'll be fine once I get used to it."

"Yeah, you'll get used to it. It's something that can be solved with one cut, so what's there to be afraid of?"

"Well, let's go."

After parking the car in a secluded spot, the siblings stored it in their spatial storage, and then each grabbed a machete and headed to the first supermarket.

Seeing that the roller shutter door of the supermarket had been opened, it was obvious that someone had been there. However, I thought that even if someone had come, it would be impossible for them to take away all the things.

"Brother, you stay behind me and I'll go ahead."

"Okay, then you have to be careful."

"Um."

Nan Xiangwan used her mental power to observe the situation inside and found that there were no survivors, only a dozen zombies wandering around, and then she walked in cautiously.

"Brother, there's a zombie on the right, go and take care of it."

"Oh, I'll give it a try."

"Well, go ahead, be brave, and you'll get used to it."

Nan Haochen suppressed his fear and kept repeating to himself, "I must become strong, I must become strong, I must protect my sister." When he saw the zombie, he mustered his courage and slashed down with his sword. With a thud, the zombie's head was severed.

Why was he not only no longer afraid of the zombies he had killed, but even a little excited? It was just that the zombie blood on his clothes made him, who was a bit of a germaphobe, very uncomfortable.

Nan Xiangwan was very pleased to see her brother finally take this step. The child had finally grown up.

"Brother, come with me. There's only one zombie downstairs, but there are quite a few upstairs. It's a good opportunity for you to practice."

"Okay, let's go."

As the two went upstairs, Nan Xiangwan didn't stop either. She casually put all the remaining items in the supermarket into her spatial storage, just like a bandit passing through.

Then they went up to the second floor and continued to clean up the zombies. Of course, it was mainly Nan Haochen who did the work, while Nan Xiangwan was on guard.

The zombies on the second floor were quickly dealt with.

Here, wipe your hands with a wet wipe.

Nan Haochen took the wet wipes handed to him by his sister and not only wiped his hands, but also wiped the machete he was using clean.

"There's quite a lot of stuff on the second floor. It was definitely the right decision to come out today. Let's go and experience shopping for free."

After killing a few zombies, Nan Haochen quickly got used to it and didn't feel so disgusted anymore.

After hearing what his sister said, he happily started to search. Anyway, he had the space. The fun of this kind of thing can only be felt by experiencing it personally.

After searching the supermarket, the brother and sister went to the store next door. No matter what they saw, as long as it was clean and usable, they took it away.

After all, it's the apocalypse, and all factories have stopped production. The more supplies you can stockpile, the better. You can never have too many.

However, we really have to thank our ancestors for leaving them space; otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to take so much with them even if they wanted to stockpile goods.
