The metal dog leash is rich in color and gleams under the flashlight.
Gu Ningyue grabbed the handle of the metal chain and shook it.
The dog leash rustled.
"Does it sound good?" Gu Ningyue asked.
"It sounds nice." Jiang Qingwan would naturally agree.
“A nice-sounding leash is a good leash!” Gu Ningyue revealed a smug smile.
"Sister Jiang, what should we do with them?" Gu Ningyue asked obediently.
"Just throw them into the zombie horde," Jiang Qingwan replied casually.
"That's quite troublesome. We'll have to take them to find zombies." Gu Ningyue said with some regret.
"I was worried you might have trouble bringing yourself to do it. It's fine to settle things on the spot." Jiang Qingwan hadn't expected Gu Ningyue to be so receptive.
"Of course not. Why would I let my enemy live so that he could come back to take revenge on me later?" Gu Ningyue shook her head.
Gu Ningyue licked her lips and continued, "My comics often feature this kind of plot. I let an insignificant character develop, and in the end, he transforms into the mastermind behind everything."
"I won't do something that would dig my own grave."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Qingwan thought to herself: No wonder he was a famous expert in her previous life, otherwise his ideological awareness would be so high.
In her previous life, she foolishly believed in the so-called blood ties and willingly degenerated into a bloodsucker.
I learned through my own life that in the end times, one must be decisive and ruthless.
We must not be soft-hearted.
The metal dog chain tightened, and sharp spikes grew out from inside.
The intruder's throat was a bloody mess, and he was making muffled noises.
They have lost the ability to shout.
All was silent.
Gu Ningyue's hands trembled slightly.
With a snap, the chains were dropped.
"I...I killed someone." Gu Ningyue's voice trembled, mixed with confusion.
People's mindset can change.
Even those who have been living in a peaceful and law-abiding society for a long time may experience a sudden sense of loss, no matter how resolute they were before.
Jiang Qingwan leaned over and gave her a hug.
She whispered in Gu Ningyue's ear, "You're amazing. They don't deserve to live. If I hadn't discovered their intrusion today, what would have become of us?"
Gu Ningyue's trembling back gradually calmed down.
His eyes, which had been hesitant and uneasy, regained their former sparkle.
"You have to get used to it. This is the cruel apocalypse!" Jiang Qingwan continued to comfort her.
"Yes, I understand. I will try my best to adapt." Gu Ningyue responded to Jiang Qingwan's hug tightly, her fingertips turning white, and her clothes showing deep creases.
"Thank goodness you were here. You're really alert," Gu Ningyue said thankfully.
The embrace loosened.
Sparks suddenly fell.
In the blink of an eye, the living room was restored.
No ashes were left after the fire.
Seeing this, Gu Ningyue also removed the items formed by her metal superpower.
"Do you know these two people?" Jiang Qingwan started a new topic.
“I don’t know him.” Gu Ningyue shook her head.
Gu Ningyue used her painter's discerning eye to recall the scene from just now.
Rough, dark hands, fingernails stained with dirt.
The lining of the down jacket, visible through the collar, had torn edges and pilling in several places.
Gu Ningyue analyzed, "I noticed their clothes weren't from any expensive brands. They also had frayed edges and pilling, so they probably weren't originally residents of this community."
Jiang Qingwan pondered for a moment, reviewing her decision: "Then our decision to leave tomorrow was correct. The neighborhood is probably a mixed bag right now."
"Yes. The order in our community has been maintained until today, and it's not that chaotic. It's truly a miracle!" Gu Ningyue commented on today's events.
“Yes, it’s a miracle,” Jiang Qingwan repeated.
There is no word other than "miracle" to describe the Yaochi Villa community.
This place is practically the last sanctuary in the apocalypse.
Now even the Pure Land is gradually becoming murky.
It's time to embark on a new journey.
Outside, the wind was biting and the temperature was extremely low, but there was no snow or hail.
This is only temporary.
The world is about to experience significant snow and ice weather.
Jiang Qingwan had to take advantage of the weather, which was only experiencing drastic temperature changes, to move her position first.
After a quick breakfast, Jiang Qingwan and Gu Ningyue went downstairs.
The sky was just beginning to lighten in the early morning.
Jiang Qingwan conjured a modified pickup truck out of thin air in the open space.
The pickup truck has a gleaming black paint job, cold, hard lines, a sleek design, wide tires, a high chassis, and a robust body.
"Let's go." Jiang Qingwan walked towards the driver's seat.
Gu Ningyue got into the passenger seat from the other side.
Jiang Qingwan drove westward.
Gu Ningyue conjured a small metal cube and kept tossing it around in the car.
After tossing the toss hundreds of times, Gu Ningyue suddenly spoke up: "How boring, let me sing you a song."
Jiang Qingwan looked straight ahead and tilted her ear to listen: "Sure! What do you want to sing?"
"Bajie, Bajie, you're not a bad person~" A cheerful song rang out.
Jiang Qingwan couldn't help but burst out laughing, and said in a surrendering tone, "Stop, stop, stop! Don't sing this kind of song. It's hilarious."
“How fitting! Look at us heading west, doesn’t it look like we’re going on a pilgrimage to the West?” Gu Ningyue said playfully.
"Help! Shut your mouth! I don't want to go through eighty-one tribulations. I can't be an ascetic at all." Jiang Qingwan disagreed.
"Ugh, this is boring." Gu Ningyue just wanted to liven things up; she didn't actually want to sing.
Gu Ningyue simply shut her mouth and continued to toss the cube in her hand.
"There's a gas station up ahead." Jiang Qingwan's desire to stock up on supplies resurfaced.
